  1. EDIT: Upgraded Windows and problem vanished. I would delete this thread or edit the topic for other's convenience, but apparently I can't do that.
  2. I think our file might be totally hosed. I tried to fix it but didn't get anywhere. Here's the corrupted file: --- ..if anyone has the know-how / willingness to fix it if salvageable. We just spent a good 8 hours updating it (and saving it every now and again), but it suddenly got corrupted.. and it's the only copy of the file. Also it's one of the tracks on the CD we were mere hours/days before releasing. ;_; EDIT: Nevermind. The most recent .wav export is perfect except for its lack of a crazy bassline I added in at the end before the flp was corrupted. I'm using the entire export as an audio clip for a makeshift brand new noncorrupted flp file, and remaking the bass line.
  3. Well, then screw Reason. Only thing I don't like about FL I can think of off the top of my head is the inability to change time signature mid-song. Though, I doubt Reason is any different in that regard.
  4. What can you do in Reason that can't be done in FL? Or let me rephrase: What final audio result can you create with Reason that you can't do with FL?
  5. Is there any way to make FLStudio7 not default to have autoscrolling checked on startup? That is to say, have it default to -not- autoscroll on the playlist? It always pisses me off to play the song, and scroll over in the playlist to skip to a particular section, only to have it jump back before I can click, and it's kind of annoying to have to uncheck autoscrolling every time I start FL. There's no scenario in which I would want autoscrolling, because whenever I do a listen to the whole song, I just maximize the playlist and set the zoom so that the whole project fits on screen.
  6. Nah, actually not new to the music world at all. This is more or less why I didn't intent to submit it as an OC Remix. Reckless Gint is about saying "Why not?" And I say, why not pan the master channel in this particular track. Check out "Warning: Drugs [may be habit forming" on our myspace. Probably closer to mainstream for your tastes, production-wise. http://www.myspace.com/recklessgint P.S. I'm the same Mikuuu that -was- known as Miku (forgot the password), and before then Leggiero.. or Kimchi, or something.
  7. Damn right he's influential. It makes perfect sense to me for colbert and miyamoto to occupy #1 and #2... but.. most of the other names on that list seem ridiculous to me.
  8. Might I ask, if you're gonna post a reply... try to make sense?
  9. Colbert's mostly up there because of truthiness and the white house correspondent's dinner.
  10. And if you enjoyed that diatribe, feel free to also check out our MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/recklessgint
  11. I wasn't really sure whether to put this in OCRemixes or Remixes other cause.. well.. I don't know that I'll ever submit it as an OCRemix (or if it's even good enough for OCR's standards), but it does feature a well-known video game tune at the end. I'm not gonna tell you what though; The effect is best when it's a surprise. Anyway, this song is one of many many collaborations between me and my friend Niles. We go by the band name 'Reckless Gint.' This track has no real name.. we couldn't decide on a proper name cause everything we thought of didn't really seem to do it justice. It's a batshit insane track where most of it is whacky/trippy intro and then gets incredibly epic at the end.. It could use some expansion on the drum parts for the first half of the track, but other than that, it's complete. Comments and criticism welcome. Behold and be helpess against... it. The Track With No Name <-- this is a link P.S. If you don't mind, listen to it LOUD. It'll be worth it once it gets near the end.
  12. If you're looking to get a program to make this remix in, I recommend FL Studio. All DAWs (digital audio workstations) have some learning curve, but FL's one of the easiest to learn. It comes with decent synths for a rock instrumentation (Slayer, BooBass, FPC..) and plenty of help documentation, but it's gonna run you $99.
  13. I'm fairly certain event editing is an option in any version of FLStudio. Make sure you're in the desired pattern for the event to be linked to, and right click a knob and select 'edit events.' If it's a knob from some VST or effect that has some crazy graphical interface, you might need to get to the edit events another way, such as clicking on the little dropdown thing at the top left corner of the particular window and clicking "browse parameters" and then right clicking the knob of your choice out of the ones that will display in the browser. Speaking of which, can anyone tell me, what is the deal with automation tracks? What sets them apart from normal event editing and how do they work?
  14. The change # of beats for individual patterns option is helpful, but it doesn't affect the playlist, which would be the source of your annoying gaps. Note however that you can start patterns on the playlist not just at the beginning of a bar, but anywhere you choose. Change the increment from "line" to "beat" and move patterns over correspondingly to eliminate gaps, when alternating between 4/4 and 3/4.
  15. You know, like Antares, only except doesn't cost money.
  16. The first two ears take care of hearing that stuff to begin with. The rest is about understanding and/or defining what you're hearing in your brain. But the 'third ear' thing is symbolic anyway as we all know, so I don't know why I even made this post, heh.
  17. The SM58 is essentially the same thing as the 57; They're both dynamic microphones (not condensers). Examples of condenser mics are M-Audio's Luna and Solaris models, to name a few fairly inexpensive ones I know to do a good job for the money. The difference between dynamics and condensers is that condensers require a power source (either Phantom power or a battery) to work, are more sensitive, tend to be more expensive and can break if you drop them hard. Condensers, at least in my opinion, tend to pick up a much better sound; But a few merits of dynamic mics is their durability, and the decreased sensitivity is good when you don't want to pick up certain noises (a really good condenser can record your stomach growling). Condensers work well for a lot of things. You mentioned rain; A condenser would definitely be much better for rain than a dynamic, as they don't suffer so much (and can even benefit) from space between it and the sound source.
  18. One of my favorite modes for a wind chime is the dorian mode. So you have.. C D E G A B C? you could make it D, (D), F, (G), (A), (, D, or something like that.
  19. M-Audio makes some good mics: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.list&ID=microphones I own two of the Solaris ones and they work really well for recording piano anyway. I've heard good things about the Luna too, which is a little cheaper. It's probably very similar to the Solaris minus the additional pick-up patterns.
  20. I can't for the life of me figure out where to find or how to produce drum sounds on par with something you might hear in say an Infected Mushroom track. If you're not familiar, I'm going for sort of a goa-psy trance thing. Anyone have any tips / links / etc. that might help me?
  21. Might've been asked already, but.. With my M-Audio Prokeys 88 keyboard hooked up to my computer via a USB Midi cable, the sustain pedal doesn't seem to be picked up on by Fruityloops. Is there something I could try fiddling with?
  22. i need some sort of funky adventurous electronica that uses really vintage sounds and takes you all sorts of places imagerywise, and without any sort of vocals. is there a name for this / where can i get some?
  23. I'd be glad to give it a try if you guys need some help.
