  1. What? Mike didn't get anything in? I gave him some pointers after he sent in a WIP over the weekend. I thought he was gonna get somewhere Anyway, that's TWICE I've worked with a novice that didn't send anything in. If this compo is meant to be there to build up my assistance confidence, it's not doing a good job at the moment, though I got to say that this time it's not the compo's organisation's fault. Still... yeah. I'm disappointed.
  2. For some reason, Hogging Molly is the most viewed OCR mixpost I got involved with on Youtube. xD If you just want something inspirational or crowdpleasing outside of my own, 7bit Hero's Bubble Dragon comes to mind. Sure it's more recent, but not only would it add variety to what else has already been listed, but it's hugely accessible to a pop music loving crowd too and had a beautiful production direction to go with it. Try it out!
  3. Just sent my first WIP to Hakstok! Very quick turnaround too; also turns out I got my dates muddled up for the final, so I guess that's more time allotted to really making this pink crystal of a track shine.
  4. I haven't heard from Mike either. But I still feel that he'll be able to get something down - I'm not giving up just yet.
  5. NEW FORUM OMG... STATUS UPDATES OMG... it's just like at The Shizz & Sonic Stadium! okay, I'll stop rambing now...

  6. This is totally gonna get a while to get used to. xD It's neat though! Just out of question (or if for some reason someone already asked this and it had already been answered and I was too ignorant to notice it); since there doesn't seem to be much warning in your settings box, do we FINALLY have infinite space for PMs?
  7. I sent an update! I feel as if I no longer have a medusa head chasing after me!
  8. Stronghold on stronghold action, eh? It'll be nice to work with you, Mike! Good luck!
  9. The first web forum I ever signed up to was the now-defunct Crashcorner.com, which was a huge Crash Bandicoot fan community back in the day. Many of its members named themselves after characters in the series, items from it, locations and the like, and I jumped in on that with standing out immediately with my old nick being a reference to the rideable Baby T-Rex in Crash 3's prehistoric levels (works just as well for me as I've always liked animals). Then gradually, as I spent more time there, one person (forgot who) started using 'Rexy' as an affectionate nickname. Others started catching on too, and I ended up letting it stick.
  10. I'm down with helping someone out on this one! I'll enrol as a Star, and use Sky Sanctuary Zone as my Sonic source.
  11. Concept wip in Kristina's Facebook mailbox! I can enjoy Easter Sunday in peace!
  12. Wow, now this actually makes a lot of sense! When you mentioned "date" in avaris's recent mixpost, I felt as if I seemed to be missing something, but now I understood the magic. Thanks for the clarification!
  13. So if DJP said the tracks were mostly based on date (which is odd because for the most part I felt my mixposts seemed accurate), I'm now interested to know which date-range had tracks that were actually techno. Nice gag yesterday!
  14. Brandon, I sent you a brief 'demo' trying to get the sound design on the Prelude arps down. By the 31st, what I want to do is to at least make sure it A) sounds exactly like the chip-harp that I'm looking for, and unable to get the boot from Squeenix PA. Other than that, there are 4 other projects that WILL be out this year that want input from me within the next 6 weeks.
  15. I'm still awake. And I'm TOTALLY up for it!
  16. If there's gonna be a talkback tomorrow or on the 27th, consider me ready to defy Daylight Savings to join you guys.
  17. Did you try going through the Apex albums (2013 | 2014 | 2015)? These albums were created to tie in with the Apex fighting game tournaments that happen every year, Super Smash Bros being one of them. The tracks are all very fast and aggressive, so you should be able to find what you're looking for! As for long intro problems, if you're making a machinima you should still be able to do some audio editing to take out any long pieces of intro. What software are you using to assemble the video(s)?
  18. As there are over 3000 remixes, here's one question I should ask in order to narrow that number down - what is your machinima going to be all about?
  19. No one got in touch with me. Although to be fair, I was kind of also expecting a post announcing the star-and-novice pairups as well. Either way, I'll still be around if anyone needs me.
  20. Mokram, YOU ARE THE MAN. Not only did I indeed transcribe the source for everyone (like the good ol' days when I used to host PRC), but I also covered this in a past PunchFest competition. xD It'll be cool to see what everyone will do with it!
  21. I'm still on target! It's just gonna be the exposition of the piece as it stands, but it'll give you an example of what I'm going for x)
  22. As someone who constantly seeks out new material to play on SEGA Mixer Drive, the standards that I have for playing a mix on the show relate either 1) an artist giving some personalisation when writing the remix, or 2) in the arrangement of a live instrument cover, satisfactory production values. Considering that you're seeking out a maximum of around 150 new Sega remix releases over the course of the year, it's actually not very easy at all just to find the ones that click. On my own personal standpoint though, I'm with timaeus in wanting to sense an emotional connection to the source material. You can still hit the player's feelings without having to resort to some hastily-done MIDI-rip - as Chernabogue also had said, every piece of music would have a story behind it, which in this case is most likely to relate to the artist's personal feelings towards that point in the game. I'm not too fussy on length (though if it's longer than 10 minutes, it's also less likely to be radio-friendly); production values can also vary on what the person is capable of and I am fine with getting the best out of what they have; and for the most part, I wouldn't mind seeing it taken in a different direction - but do remember though, heart-felt ballads turned into techno songs is one of my biggest musical pet peeves. (I'd still play it on the show anyway, lol.) Anyway, yes. That's my two cents.
  23. To be fair, there's still a few people that would focus on elder / retro-sounding music simply because it reminds them of their youth. Nothing wrong with more recent soundtracks, but you gotta expect a lot of people to go way, way back. Even then, there are games from the 5th and 6th console generations (aka around 1995-2005ish) that had scores that aged badly over time on a production standpoint, so being able to see stylistic arranges for these is also a great plus. Tl,dr: that past mission statement seems to ring true for today's arrangers, except we got a couple more gaming generations to account for now o.O
  24. Not IN Majora's Mask itself, but no doubt I was very pleased about that costume.
  25. Got a tip from someone on Twitter this evening. Someone requested a Reest Generation mix for tonight's SEGA Mixer Drive, and I was all "can't play it, Sega didn't do anything". But then they pointed out something that got them all confused: http://ocremix.org/game/569/reset-generation-ngage The developer for the game is listed as Sega for some reason. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reset_Generation The actual developer is RedLynx, which was actually acquired by UbiSoft 3 years after Reset Generation was released. Is there any way you guys can go into the database and fix this slip? Thanks.
