  1. Silly Wes must've forgotten his coffee this morning In regards to the listening party, I shall be there; though are you sure the Arecibo chatroom would handle a high volume of people? Even during the previous few episodes of NGI it had its clunky moments, which might draw room for concern. Whatever happens, it's going to be ballsy!
  2. Let's also wish Sir Nuts a happy birthday as well - one of the old pioneers in trance must be lucky to have his birthday shared with one of OCR's more abstract performers. So have a good one to the pair of you!
  3. It's a long time coming Kyle/Alan! Glad to see you gentlemen got the project out of the door after all those years
  4. Yeah, when I first heard it through headphones the day after Brandon did the mixdown, my first thought was "is the compression going to form as a new flaw for the track?", but after several listens I managed to get used to it. Given that the judges didn't bring this up in the re-vote, I'm not really sure if it's a big deal as such. I do however acknowledge that this irk is probably going to split people. But at the end of the day we both had fun working on it over the past year or so, and we will be sure to keep learning from the experiences we run into
  5. Welcome back Sir Nuts! Given your contributions to the various Mega Man competitions in the past, it's obvious that the Concrete Man EP wouldn't really be the same without you. The 80s italo-disco direction was actually pretty neat, which shows your strengths in regards to adapting to various different fields of electronica rather than the regular trance. Strangely I wasn't quite feeling the writing the first time around as I felt it seemed a bit clashy, with most of the key points of disonnance residing with the parts with the hard-right-panned synth from around 1:20 onwards, not to mention the weak ending with the brief drum solo, but you soon made for it with a lot of care and detail taken to the genre and some of the crazy controller work closer to the end. I couldn't really say I was as crazy about this one as some of the other forum dwellers were, but in regards to your recent posts this is definitely a return to form and we hope that you'll keep sending stuff more regularly. I know you got the capacity, Nuts
  6. If any tracks were to be auto-posted as a result of the Concrete Man EP, I'm glad it was Flexstyle's. He's certainly been coming a long way since his PRC participation back when I was hosting it, and his contributions towards the site have shown his progression a great deal. Course, given that it was merely made over a couple of days does indeed show the mix's more conservative nature, but he managed to make up for it with a hugely polished production package that has been really catered strongly on that field. It's a safe direction, but it's one that managed to come up strongly as one of the best tracks on the album sheerly due to all the attention paid towards all the attention paid towards the genre adaptation. Be sure to keep contributing to the site Flexstyle; I am proud of your progression
  7. Looking at the OP - "I actually don't know who he is..." Okay, admit it; which of you guys got the gender wrong?
  8. Cue me in for Donkey Kong Land! And I'm pretty sure my involvment in four of OCR's projects in the past year has what you need to show my capacity
  9. One day Kyle, I may throw in a guitarist to a future project with your involvement. Hey, I have the capacity to write such wankery at least.
  10. Popping by to wish a fellow British arranger a happy birthday! And be sure to keep bringing in the quality mixes like you did with the FF8 ones :D

  11. I've just realised something with the track order; this is loosely based on the stage order in the original Japanese version, isn't it?
  12. That was one funny trailer for sure! Nice work José; did he also do the speaker's voice as well or was that someone else? But yeah, gogo release soon-ish!
  13. Wait a sec; you're meant to offer the cake *to* the birthday boy, NOT the other way round? Alas, have a great time for all of us - to one of the growing faces within the remixing community, and to one mean glockenspiel user to boot! (will be coming in a mix pretty soon, I hope )
  14. Gotta say that I love the detail that you put into your animated signatures :P

  15. Oh I'll provide something alright... ...provided I know what's the procedure to submit. Do I send it as an OCR/OLR PM to you or do I send it like an OLR submission like normal?
  16. Eino ^_^

Popping by to say thanks for the feedback/support on the new version of 'Hogtied'!

I admit, when I first heard the track via headphones the day after the resub, I thought the "punchiness" that you were feeling might end up being a new criticism from the panel, but over the weeks it gradually became something more comfortable; I do acknowledge the thoughts either way, and am glad to see you were there for its release!

    Thanks again :)

  17. Another highlight from Lucid Dreaming! I was wondering whether you two would chip in with the mix submission or not When hearing it in the listening party, it felt like it had a great position near the end of CD 1 as one to wind down after some of the liveliver performances there ("New Jack Mantle in particular). In regards to the arrangement, so much had been done to maintain both the melody line and the general atmosphere behind it to maintain the heart and soul behind the source material, while a lot of the original writing had worked out so well to keep with the track's gentle flow. The production's also very precise as we've come to expect from OA as well, though I did notice a little quirk. During the listening party I felt from listening it through headphones that it had a tendancy to weigh down your body really quickly, as if it wanted to enduce sleep. Did you sneak in some binaural beats into the pads? Because what you did there really seemed to amplify the general mood just as well as the arrangement did. Only downside I can see is the sudden ending, but maybe there was something intentional going on for the album that required it to end that way. That aside though, the collab worked extremely well, and I'm glad to see it not only follow up one of my OWN tracks (lol shameless self promotion), but more importantly to see it emerge from the album, onto the site and into musical bliss. That said, nice going you two!
  18. Cutting the line of Stevo remarks to wish you a happy birthday, Xenon! ^_^

  19. Guys, please, before this starts as a troll thread against Zimmer and Madeline, remember that there have been a lot of people who have wanted to have their dreams come true by getting to sing in a videogame as popular as this - nearly 300 of them. Jill is already greatful enough for the huge amount of support she gained throughout this whole process, and her latest post in this thread is proof that she feels happy enough that she has so many people backing her up. So well played with the whole campaign, Mrs. Aversa! At the same time, we should also feel gracious for Madeline's victory. It may not have been what you guys would have wanted, but please remember to keep yourselves as good sports at the same time. It's her moment to bask, so be sure to congratulate her and everyone else who took part
  20. Popping by to say a huge thank you for keeping the site in top form over the years, as well as being really encouraging to those aspiring to be a part of this community. This niche of the internet most likely won't be the same without you at all :)

  21. As much as I'd love Retro Studios to handle Star Fox, I have this feeling that Retro Studios are likely to be more comfortable (to them) action/adventure oriented games, and with that said I can see them taking Kid Icarus to the Wii/WiiU well especially considering Pit's popularity in SSBB. But yeah, after what they did with Metroid and Donkey Kong, RS have shown that they are extremely capable in handling Nintendo's property
  22. Nice going on the #1 voting spot! Assuming you keep the slot by the time the voting closes, I say best of luck to get onto the new Assassin's Creed game OST :)

  23. Speaking for k-wix, I recalled that he was more in favor of an order as according to flow rather than the in-game progression. There have been some past OCR albums that have managed to go by a traditional track order but have been criticised in regards to the pacing throughout, so this could be seen as a more different case. I hope this answers your question
  24. Well, I downloaded the album via the zip and I opened it just fine in WinRAR. Did you try downloading the songs seperately via the Music page? Because if you can't get the torrent to work (as a student myself I remember being unable to use torrents and the IRC due to the university's firewall, so it seems like a common thing), and you can't get the zip to open either for some strange reason, then I'm pretty sure the individual mp3s - tedious as it might be - can still work out for you.
  25. This sounds neat; funnily enough I was thinking of potential ideas for a Concrete Man arrangement when I saw the BiB tracklist. Nevertheless, since I'm on holiday from the 11th through to the 17th that'll probably mean that if I can get in I'll have to churn a finished arrangement in 2 days; no easy feat, but I'm sure I'll try my best
