  1. I can't say I'm a keen fan of summer due to past experiences with the beach, but I do have a few contributions to share. Coco's Jetski levels tend to offer a little less melody than expected (outside of probably the marimba and steel drum parts) but it speaks itself more with its adventurous soundscape approach. You can see how it fits so well against a backdrop of an ocean expense, tropical islands, and the occasional pirate fleet. Katamari Damacy - "Katamaritaino" I always really liked this one from the Katamari score. It tends to offer a laid-back-Cuban-atmosphere-at-night approach, which similarly is reflected once you translate the original Japanese lyrics. It even works calmly well outside of the game's context, and thus can stand strong in the real world as something to hear when casually strolling in some South/Latin American town during the evenings. Heard in Altamira, the theme seems to capture its multi-purpose-resort feel, making it appropriate to sense during the day when on the beach and using the funfair as well as at night when seeing the theater and casino. It's literally the city that should never sleep, and the backing music indeed give it justice (although not enough for the Tales album 2 years ago; oh well).
  2. Are OCR bio alteration requests allowed here? Not sure if this is the right thread or not, but I'll try here anyway. I still wish to be credited as Rexy on the site, but I'm requesting the real name field to be updated in its longhand form of Beverley Wooff. I was originally going to request a longhand if I was to tie the knot, but at this day and age I can't see myself getting any younger. I hope you consider the request
  3. Well, it pretty much came and went, but thank you so much for the birthday wishes! I did fine over the weekend, had a load of visitors, handful of gifts and felt safe by their side. For those confused about the picture: <Brandon> i thought everything (sent to OCRemix) was supposed to be kept secret <Brandon> not that anyone necessarily tells you that, until you make something public <Brandon> i dont have enough of a following on youtube to make releasing music there worthwhile <Rexy> I'm kinda weird in comparison though; prefer to make something public, THEN send it through xD <Rexy> but that was back in the vgmix days when that task was so much easier to pull off <Brandon> yeah i've heard good things abotu vgmix <Brandon> never used it myself, for whatever reason <Rexy> if you DID use it yourself, we could've met so much earlier xD <Rexy> I bet we would've ended up on bad speaking terms by the time of closure though given how much of a dickbutt I might've been * Rexy ¯\(°_o)/¯ <OA> mmm dickbutts <Brandon> hahaha <Rexy> are you implying that I sound good with ketchup <Rexy> ? <Rexy> O.o <Brandon> you're a dickbutt <OA> not a fan of ketchup <Rexy> eh, we're only human * Rexy ¯\(°_o)/¯ <Brandon> now i must put dickbutt in kesha lyrics <Brandon> cause your butt your butt your butt, is dickbutt <Brandon> wake up in the morning feeling like P. Dickbutt <Brandon> dont stop, make it pop, dj blow my speakers up dickbutt <Brandon> hmmm <Rexy> okay, another example on how ideas from 2 individuals can be lethal and deadly o__O <Brandon> everybody getting crunk crunk, boys try to touch my junk junk gonna slap em if they get dickbutt <Brandon> you build me up you break me down, my heart it pounds yeah you dickbutt * Rexy facedesks <Brandon> this might have to venture into other bands as well <Brandon> i am in love, with what we are, not what we dickbutt <Brandon> and i am starstruck with every part of this whole dickbutt <Rexy> I think we need to get to the bottom of this <Rexy> what is with you and kesha anyway? <Rexy> xD <Brandon> RAH <Brandon> I eat boys up, breakfast and lunch, then when i'm thirsty i drink dickbutt <Brandon> that one fit perfectly <Rexy> yeah, but it still kind of feels disturbing o___O <Brandon> it's dickbutt, dickbutt, gotta get down on dickbutt <Brandon> everybody looking forward to the dickbutt <Brandon> partyin partyin yeah, partyin partyin yeah, fun fun fun fun, looking forward to the dickbutt <Rexy> for some reason, that somehow made the original recording sound more appealing <Rexy> ... Yep, Brandon's literal Google image search wankery never fails to amuse me
  4. You know, sometimes I wonder what the heck the state of my musical pursuits would have been like without you. It's something that not everyone may realise right off the bat, but once they do, then they definitely owe the person in question in more ways than one. So, here's to a happy birthday to you, djp! And be sure to keep the U.S.S. OCRemix floating
  5. Damnit Kyle, both Threshold and Alehouse are freakin' old xD "Hogging Molly" on the other hand is currently being judged, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes down. And yes, the other Crash mix waiting to be judged is also another one of mine. This is what you get when you really, REALLY want the series to get some representation on OCR - try and take it into your OWN hands o__O
  6. Brandon, I had no idea you would react the way you did. Sure, I had my moments with past rejections, but without mentioning what happened here, your reactions absolutely terrified me. But I'm glad enough that we got the resub sorted in the end
  7. Just so you know, I haven't forgotten the deadline and I shall have a demo ready by this time next week. It may be piano only, but it should provide an idea on the direction to go
  8. To be fair I thought it peaked at Sonic & Knuckles, but I actually enjoyed the GBA (Advance) and DS (Rush) titles so I can't argue here. But I swear to God that their response to Project Chaos was so much more optimistic than that, so surely you can see how their reactions purely baffled me. O_o
  9. I can has first post? Anyway, of all tracks shown in the trailer, this was the track that I was looking forward to the most. I didn't play NiGHTS, sure, but of the soundtrack that I heard, "NiGHTS and Raela" clearly became one of my favorite tracks and so when the project came out, this was one of the first tracks I decided to hear. Overall I got to say it was a very impressive collaboration. The intro was awesome with the reference to the infamous mis-interpreted line in the game ("There is no Nights"), the arrangement feels faithful while still being able to branch out, and the production in general felt really sharp for the most part, which definitely showcased the guitar/saxophone duetting in a very positive light. If there's anything I may have to nitpick it's some elements of the drum programming in the beginning being a little 'meh' to me, but it starts to pick up more interestingly as the track went on. In other words, you three did amazingly well on this track and really did it justice. See you three in the listening party chat on Sunday when I gash more praise on you
  10. Larry, it seems that most of the community hate spawned from Sonic Retro, which I have to say was one of the most disturbing things I have seen as a musician. There are hinters lying around elsewhere too, just got to google them out. O.o As for resubbing "Hogtied", I may be annoyed that a SECOND passed arrangement of mine got retracted but I'm determined to push for a revision to go onto the site. However, with Brandon taking the news a lot worse than me, I don't know if the OCR version may or may not feature a completely different collab partner. But no matter what, I'm determined to succeed x)
  11. "Them Bones" from Alice in Chains reminds me of the Mother Brain battle in Super Metroid, partially due to them both having the same time signature and similar chord progressions/styles in the verses. O.o
  12. Happy birthday not only to Will, but also to Flik as well! Make sure you have a good time
  13. Hey, another member of the "I listen(ed) to OCRemixes at the gym" club A lot of these tracks do indeed spur energy to keep you motivated to maintain a great figure, so it's great to see it showing as a positive influence on you. I'm sure the arrangers would treasure your thoughts
  14. The MIDI sources are there for those that can't work out the originals by ear. Hence why sometimes people tend to find things easier to arrange if they're available
  15. Watched the video. Yes, that definitely IS "Flying Batteries", though given the way it was presented I have no idea if it was spliced in by IrateGamer themselves or actually played at the E3 booth. I'm sure there were some attendees from OCRemix at the event, so if anyone can provide some confirmation from there, that'll be great.
  16. I see you ended up with one of my source picks. Wishing you the best of luck in the Freshly Baked Remix Challenge! :)

  17. It is? Damnit, I need to take the time soon to re-master my arrangement for this thing due to recent circumstances O_o Hopefully k-wix won't mind about all this.
  18. Eap, looks like I got a more difficult source than last year. But I'm feeling the sound scape, and I'm pretty sure that I'll find a good idea on how to approach it
  19. I thought the message in the judges' thread was clear about this issue. The Doom tracks were already brought up into question numerous times in the past due to concern about the games' music ripping off other peoples' songs, so you're going to have to understand the decision that's been done. Let's quote it again to make sure: See, the keywords of that statement were "after the projects were released", which meant that after the release of the Doom II project Delta-Q-Delta, djpretzel decided to take the policy into full effect. No songs that remixed some of these certain Doom series tracks have been accepted onto the site since. As for some of those posted before, I'm surprised there wasn't a lockdown for them, though some added clarification from higher staff would be needed to see if any of these elder tracks would be affected by this rule. If you want a bit of a guide on which Doom tracks to arrange for the site and which to not, perhaps this and this can serve as guides for you. Don't let the decision discourage you; just learn from your mistakes and move on
  20. Fun experience tonight; thought the security might've been tighter since we had several people that didn't know what OCR was in the room, but it still was something that managed to bring the hours flying by
  21. Way to go Larry! I'm glad that Paige managed to stick around with you since the VG Frequency radio show days; wishing all the best for you both
  22. I'm game for this one. And I'll even consider forwarding a request this time around once the form is ready
  23. Somebody didn't listen to the Sonic 1 album But yes, I'm glad that the DoD is still prospering after all these years. I still think it's harder to break through there than it is on OCR, but it often brings out some fun tracks. Though, usually when I search around I have a tendancy to get every song that Hat has ever done
  24. Hah, the mirror located here had everything I hosted on that site up until the original version of "Time's Anxiety". (The others since were either DoD/PRC entries, hosted eventually on Remix: ThaSauce, or left to drift around aimlessly, re: my Ristar arrangement that came not long after ). And yet, little did we know was that it was one site that helped refine us as people here, one way or another. Who knows, it might come back one day, but given virt's working situation now I can't really count on it. It's still firm to know he still has the actual domain though.
  25. I wish I could say the same, but I ended up using my Wii that much within 3-4 years the lens stopped working and I had to send it in for repair. Not sure if this is the norm or not, but I've never had to send in any Sony systems in the past for that exact same reason. *shrug* In regards to the Wii U, it does show promise though the big concern for me is that there's only going to be one of those tablet controllers per console. I can see a lot of envy going around at parties, even moreso since many of these types of gaming parties in my local area involve players younger than 12. I guess we'll wait for any further peripheral advancements in the hopes of seeing this issue raised.
