That is a very valid point and one that takes me back to the rhythm gaming communities (Guitar Hero in particular) - fun to play, but otherwise so painfully elitist. When I first got GH World Tour, what I was hoping to do was to just start on Easy, with the eventual goal of passing everything on Expert guitar (which finally happened just over a year ago when I passed 'Satch Boogie' on Expert for the first time). Along the way to keep improving, and somehow being stumped at some of the expert charts that would take me mere weeks/months to build up the dexterity to manage, I cited Youtube vids for some of the charts, and to see some of those people hitting every single note on some of the harder songs being all "this is too easy/boring to play" (the Ozzy Osbourne tracks in the game in particular), all it was was more inspiration to try and keep improving my methods, even though there were some songs on expert that I couldn't pass for a long time. Then when Guitar Hero 5 came out with the opportunity to play online with different instruments (in which around that time my best 'pass' was 'Bark at the Moon'), that gave me the chance to be more flexible with my playing style. But it annoyed me so much that there would even be many people coming online to pick songs that they would be completely unable to play, AT ALL. And I even noticed a handful of people that couldn't even pass some of the easier songs on medium or something daft. And even if you consider yourself good, you'd still have painfully hard customs to tell you otherwise and the sadistic attitudes behind them. So basically, whether you're a rookie or a very skilled gamer who invested a lot of time into the game, you just can't win at rhythm gaming either.

Under Ben's command, I've changed my avatar for the course of this contest. (Don't worry Crash Bandicoot, you'll be back in your rightful place soon enough.) And epic back story Jason; now I guess I can't imagine Robbie without a bottle of whiskey in his hand instead of a microphone

And on that note, the last team is done! Now, let's all build some mad hype for the events ahead
-
Energy Tank and the Mega Ballers are good to go! And Luke/Jake/Chernabogue, please hurry up with a team name from you three!
-
Will have a wip this weekend. Thank God it's half term, which means more time in the evenings for me to work on it. And many happy returns, Rozo
-
All done. It's in the web link for you to collect now.

Okay, so I've knuckled down with the sigs: http://instaidgrace.com/freqrexy/WCRG2011/sigs.html I have completed a full set of images for 9 of the 12 teams (the three sets that are missing still need to come up with a name or have a proposed name approved by DarkeSword). All the links should be working, so feel free to grab them when you're ready

We may be 'bad guy robots', but at least some of us can tell the difference between cyan (which Brandon asked for) and blue, which Sir Nuts asked for earlier as well: Okay, time to seriously crank out the rest of the images.

I'll have copies done for everyone anyway, but I will take the Yellow code consideration for Dr Light's Legion.
-
Point acknowledged. And here I was about to feel sympathetic for Main Finger if both he lost the coin toss for Gemini AND prophetik won Tornado... Anyway, now that the robot masters are set in stone, this is where the mad hype/research comes in. Good luck, all!

Care to explain why Hylian Lemon and Rozovian lost their sole first picks of Crystal Man and Top Man respecively? I'm under the assumption everyone will get their first pick if they aren't conflicting with another person.
-
	Like this?
-
@Rozovian: I can arrange for colors if a team wants something specific. I do understand what you mean with the gallery though; basically I was paying more attention to the 250px height limit (this one is 200px), though if you got recommendations for how tall the signatures should be, I'm all ears.

In regards to individual competitor banners, an idea somehow struck for me as I was coming home from a wedding this morning. Tried it out in GIMP as well to see how it would come out: If this design would work out, then I'm up for forming 35 images similar to this one
-
Team names that might've gone missing: Other than that, there are definitely some team names missing. If you're in a team and haven't decided on a name, come up with one quick!
-
So I guess this means we need Jewbei to pick his robot masters, and we're all set. Good luck everyone! An amazing turnout may mean such an amazing competition

If you have a MIDI controller or USB keyboard, the best way to go about it would be to play the piano part yourself. Some piano patches do indeed come with a stereo field to work with so individually panning each note doesn't seem necessary. That's most likely to be the best way to make it feel as human as possible. If you don't have one, I suggest you save up for one - some are fairly inexpensive, though this should be a good start on what to ideally go for. They would help you a lot if you're going to be working with key-based sounds often.

OCR02302 - The Binding of Isaac "The Clubbing of Isaac"Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments Got to have to say that it's cool to already do something for one of Danny Baranowsky's scores, especially considering his presence in OCR in years gone past. As for the track itself, the blending together of both the Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy sources was seen to be just genius all around, and really captures a firm example of how credit should be given towards the composer - making sure to acknowledge the work at hand while still being able to capture that similar emotive quality that the composer gave in. I've understood the difficulty of trying to write a melody originally in a different time signature into something more standardised, and in this form it actually transitioned to the point that the source material could've easily been 4/4 to begin with. With all the dedication you've given towards Baranowsky's role and vice verca (something I can admit I saw a great deal of on Twitter over the months), I can say that you managed to do a great justice to his work. It's definitely a keeper from me

Nekofrog, it's not too late; if there's anyone you're interested in working with, make contact. It is however too late to hope for the best, so you got to get out there and find someone; NOT relying on someone finding you.

Okay, after trying to play around with those untaken tracks, I can say I am more likely to have a concrete idea working with "Weird Counterpoint". I'll do my best for the deadline, though I'd be out of town for three days this week due to a family wedding, but I will try my best

From what I saw in the IRC on the announcement day, Sixto and OA are too busy to take part. But we can definitely still do with some union amongst those interested to join but not in teams
-
Is this your first time taking part in a Megaman-themed competition, Nekofrog? Don't worry, it's my first time too; sometimes for fresh blood in regards to these gatherings, it's hard to get started on the right foot. And leaving posts in the thread can be seen as a risk to people completely whizzing them over. There's two things I can suggest - look for people that you get on extremely well with, and ask them if they would like to take part with you (which seems to be the case for a good majority of these team formations). Or you can do what Sir Nuts suggested and contact some people who took part in the past and see if they're interested. If my team wasn't full I could've taken you on board since I see you on IRC a lot, but I really hope that you'll end up somewhere in the end.

Happy Birthday Protricity! Happy Birthday Doulifee! And Salluz!Rexy replied to Monobrow's topic in General Discussion Whee, birthdays! To one of the most influential mixers towards OCR's direction (whom liked calling people 'fags' over the years from what I saw) - To one of OCR's most recognisable Frenchies - And to someone that I unfortunately don't know very well but traced down the saltiest and brightest cake I can find: Make it a good one, all three of you
-
Try his Twitter page. I see him being more active there than the forums, so it might be the best shot you've got if you want to get him involved somehow.

OCR02306 - Super Dodge Ball "Friendly Fire"Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments Hearing it as the last track featured in the trailer, I'm glad to see that this effort from both Will and Stevo made the mix flood! Writing-wise, Will definitely DOES rock here; say what you like about drum sample issues, but the way of writing with those definitely helped bring the track to life and showed emphasis that late 80s synth rock approach to it. The theme even was picked apart and worked well in regards to the progression, and Stevo's solo (which I'm guessing is around 1:30 in?) also added that much of a sugar-rush for the notation heavy. Even the synth work was really highlighted over; I honestly believe that that kind of empahsis is Will's main strength, and while more understated than in some of his previous works the way they used definitely provided a good lift towards the track's direction. Mind, on first listens to this one, I kind of had a little issue with the guitar recording and them sounding a little too low-mid dependant, but as the track managed to get on it was soon balanced out by the sharp synth work and I got to say it lifted the track quite well. Another issue I had here though was more due to length; there were so many ideas being presented throughought the track, and yet when it was feeling ready to come towards one last rush through the C/D sections of the theme at least, it then chose to end the same way it began. So it kind of felt like a weak way to finalise it if you ask me, unfortunately. Alas, synth rock definitely isn't an easy thing to produce, and with a source as crazily detailed as the Vs theme, it was made even more difficult in regards to pacing. I'm going to have to say though that while I ultimately wasn't quite as crazy over this one as some of the other tracks on the album, what they did was really moulded it into a firm and melodic experience from start to finish. Will, I suggest you keep living up to your name and keep working with this genre should the opportunity arise again; the details are there, but with it leaving the listener hanging for more, you've really got to up that ball game (no pun intended). I know you can do it
