Do delivery - Less people interaction, don't need to be a saint when talking to them, and decent tips. Just don't mess up their food. Tips probably vary depending on your location, but I've been surprised before. I delivered for a local Chinese Restaurant which required $20 minimums so I was on average getting $3-5 per delivery with the extra charge. I've seen $100 days with tips alone, but slow days with $20-30. Theres a lot more risk, what with traffic accidents, speeding tickets, and the possible robbery. A lot of this stuff is pretty region dependent so delivery might not be the best job for you. I used to work at a Toys R Us. I was fortunate to work with a lot of cool people and have cool management. It had its perks and its shitty customers. Pay was fairly minimal, but I just wanted my own money at that point. I've never gotten certification done, but I would think a System/Network administrator with equiv cert could pull off atleast 40k+ (probably higher). Also shoes.

you know what, video games really aren't that fun

Now we just need something about liking video games more than girls and we got a grade A SuperTKO thread. -
I took that quote as meaning - because the video game industry has grown so much, theoretically violence should have grown, but it hasn't. In fact, it fell 77% (That's HUGE). I don't think they meant that it dropped BECAUSE of video games. There's probably too many factors to list here that are the cause of the drop. I think sephfire hit it on the head. If there is an effect, it's definitely negligible compared to other factor's in children's lives (which seem to be improving). I personally just see it as something of that these personality types happens to do as a hobby. These kids probably felt isolated to begin with and used video games to fill some void in their lives. Did it give them ideas for their crimes? Probably. But hell, violence is all over the media, it's hard NOT to get ideas if you need to. Look at all the unsolved cases because people (read: Adults) are taking cues from shows like CSI to cover up their crimes. I think regulation is completely unnecessary, but I do believe that if these video game companies want these angry parents to stop filing lawsuits and waste their money on lawyers and court fees and annoying press releases, they should start endorsing this type of research and figure out how to teach these parents the signs of deteriorating behavior in children and figure out how to fix it. At least that way, it would be in their financial interest to try to educate people and get them off their backs. Sorry for the rant. Parent's who don't take responsibility make me rather angry.

I spotted this on digg today in another link that used 1up as a source (which was from 6/07/06 anyway). http://www.thetanooki.com/2007/03/04/smash-bros-brawl-character-confirmations-and-desires/ However... Someone also noted that it was created in some fan forum and posted on some french blog and snowballed from there. I know I was excited when I first saw this too.

If you people didn't figure it out, that button trick with changing your faction where you hold the button of the first letter of an option and click works with computer types and whatever else there's a pull down menu to. I played the computer and after they couldn't get through some of my defenses, they seemed to give up, even though they had plenty of resources. Anyway, I think the game is pretty awesome anyway and I'm looking forward to the release.

The real consequences of blurring video games and real life..
!Nekko! replied to Steben's topic in General Discussion
Also not from a video game, but I find myself insulting people and then saying "Ha ha, no I'm just kidding, you're alright!" like Flexo in Futurama. -
Cool. I'd download it, but I don't know a good place to download from with reasonable speed and or don't need to sign up. Anyone have any recommendations? Edit: Well I found this site that seems to work... http://www.vgpro.com/file/20758_CnC3_Demo.exe.html

Well, I guess I'll be the first to post what I got. PS2 - 1.99 - DBZ Budokai - I played it before and enjoyed it. PS2 - 4.99 - Shadow the Hedgehog - I've seen the bad reviews, but I wanted to see it for myself. PS2 - 1.99 - The Bible Game - I just couldn't resist. It got better reviews than Shadow . PS2 - 9.99 - Megaman X Collection - They didn't have it for 1.99 on GCN, but I was willing to pay 9.99 for this. NDS - 1.99 - Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects - *shrugg* Another DS game? GBA - 1.99 - Namco Museum - Cheap time killer. GCN - 1.99 - Spongebob Squarepants movie - A gift for a friends birthday. NDS - 1.99 - Spongebob: The Yellow Avenger - Same as above. Even though I got there at around 30 minutes after opening, I was one of the first people there and luckily I wasn't interested in any of the games that were picked over already. This one guy had about 25 games in his basket. I also had a gift card and picked up Diablo II at Target. So total, I spent about 33 Dollars for 9 games, not too shabby. -
Coincidentally, I recently started playing D2 again this week, but my bro uses the CD key so only one player as of right now. I'm very interested in this, though. I've heard West has been having a lot of troubles with even legits getting their accounts hacked. Anyone else hear about this?

Dang, I wish Iowa wasn't currently inundated with a foot of snow or else I would scope out the joint. I'd like to get my hands on Fire Emblem, Mega Man X, MP2:Echoes, Sonic Gems Collection (I really want to play Sonic CD) and of course, Beyond Good and Evil. Hell, if a game looks halfway interesting, I'll pick it up because I could probably get more for trade-in credit then the price I bought it at. (And I start a page yet again without anything witty to say) -
Unless you're Captain Falcon who totally gets the shaft on using the baseball bat. Anyway, what is the next possible date for Nintendo announcing anything or a big conference that Nintendo is going to attend so I can mark my calendar?
-
I agree to some extent, but maybe most competitive players aren't like this. It just seems like they're playing to boost their ego more than having fun. That's why I don't play in most tournaments.

And Owen Wilson will be Raiden! This will be perfect! ahem

Thats really tall if it doesn't fold. Needs more horizontal N-gage awesomeness. I kid, I kid.

Looks like Mario Kart 64 next week. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070123/latu078.html?.v=91 Guess I've been missing these announcements. Also must finally be the slow period after Christmas, since they're releasing some of the bigger guns.

I think its just the on screen movement, but I've been playing PC FPSs for years and its almost the same mechanics. My guess is because the movement isn't immediate like with a mouse, I'm trying to look towards where I'm turning instead of just following my movement is messing around with me. Darting my eyes around looking for Elebits probably doesn't help either. I also didn't bring my Elebits manual with me to school, so I'm curious if the manual mentions anything about this. Destructoid had a short article about this too. http://www.destructoid.com/wii-fps-games-cause-motion-sickness--28817.phtml

Holographics. In before Kwarp.

Any update on anyone getting into Fado's house?
-
You might be right, but what doesn't make sense for me is that I played it several times before it effected me, instead of just initially getting sick. It might tie into the fact that I felt sort of groggy today to begin with, which is what happened last time too. Last time I felt like crap for a day or two afterwards and I picked up it up again tonight and played it for 15 minutes tops before it effected me. Guess we'll see how I do tomorrow. Also, Zelda:LTTP was released on the virtual console today. Tempting, but I'm still holding out only for Super Metroid and Mario Kart 64 (and maybe the minuscule chance of Goldeneye).
-
Quick question. Is anyone else getting motion sick after playing Elebits? I can play maybe one short round before I start getting woozy. I've been able to get through the first 9 stages in several sittings with no problem, but not anymore it seems. I am prone to getting car sick if I don't keep my eyes on the road (like reading a book or something, which isn't strange), but I've never in my life have I gotten sick playing video games. Whats worse is that it sticks with me for a while after I play. I don't want to take Dramamine to play video games . On further google investigation, this seems to be a somewhat common problem.
