I don't think it's too shallow not to buy it and enjoy it, I just think it could be a bit more complex. To me, the game feels very much like an FFTA game but it falls short of that greatness by being a little limited. For instance, your Pokemon only have access to one attack. How cool would it have been if your Pokemon could learn more of the different moves from the main series games( even if they have to be tweaked ) so they could augment things like defense, movement range, attack range, attack power. In the released game the depth of the battling is little more than type advantages( a trademark of the original games, only simplified even further ) and often the single move your Pokemon has access to changes type/range when it evolves. Learning different moves as you increase your bond would've enabled your pokemon to be more versatile and would've added incentive to going for 100% bond rating. Toward the end, the battles felt less and less satisfying as I could just lay into the enemy with my evolved monsters. And collecting Items from treasure boxes wasn't ever any fun because of the weird item use system. Other than being a bit limited, the game was a joy to play. I like the detailed Pokemon sprites and animations and the music is great. I give the game an enthusiastic B+. ( I hope the next one is more like the FFTAs )

I read gamestop was doing a trade-up deal where they actually allow you to transfer your data from your 3DS into your new XL in the store. Pretty kewl. Not sure how much they take off of the XL's price though.

For what it's worth, there's a big difference between being cautious/skeptical and "hating". Interesting how often people misconstrue one for the other, particularly in defending video game consoles (even hypothetical ones, evidently).

Square Enix have definitely been in a slump. People expect a true FFVII HD remake and the magically beautiful Luminous engine games to materialize when SE can't even deliver FFXIII Versus. How many years has it been since that's been announced? 6 years? Come on now. Can anyone pretend to care about that at this point? If I had a genie I would wish for Square to never have been Enixed.

I just watched the traiiler for this. 100% cutscenes. Guess they don't feel bad about making people who don't know any better think it'll be another HD rerelease.

Yeah, I would be more concerned that they would 'mess (the game) up' if it were actually being rebuilt from scratch (then again Journey of Dreams was a new game and seemed to be well-received). This should go over as well as any other HD port. What bothers me is all the news sites reporting "OMG HD REMAKE" every time one of these HD retextured ports is announced. A TRUE 'remake' in the way of Resident Evil GCN, where assets are completely redone (no trace of the literal original engine) would be worthy of even more excitement, though admittedly not every game should be "remade", and remakes are a lot riskier than HD ports, both financially and in not disappointing fans of the original, so it's understandable why more of these aren't done. The overuse of the wrong terminology is what bothers me.

I think Arrow might be one of the many who have an issue with the 'baby Yoshi' sfx they imported from Yoshi's Story for the GBA Yoshi's Island. I agree though that the games are virtually identical otherwise.

What I want in the next smash game: custom soundtrack mp3 support. I've been wanting to hear while playing on the Pokemon Stadium stage for a long while now. You would play Time mode and set it to 1-minute matches for added fun.

Nintendo's E3 Conference intro made me cry tears of joy. The Pikmin games have been one of the big joys gaming has brought to me and to finally see something new and know I'll be returning to the pikmin planet after these long years just made me really emotional. The ending to Pikmin 2 makes me well up with emotion too but I don't think any other game has made me close to crying.

Mario Kart Super Circuit, F Zero Maximum Velocity, Mario vs Donkey Kong say hi too. Oh wait, ya said worthwhile. But seriously, I had fun with MKSC and Mario vs DK on the original system. EDIT: Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is cryin. EDIT EDIT;

They haven't so far because they were offered as an apology to those that bought the system before the price drop in the first place. It hasn't even been a year since the price drop and even less of a year since the GBA games have become available for Ambassadors. I'm sure after a year, if Nintendo feels like they need to dangle some carrots for those who haven't bought a system yet they may bring them to the public. I'd keep my eyes peeled after retail 3DS games themselves hit the eShop.

Absolutely. I laugh at the people who see something like Pikmin 3 and expect everything to look like an actual photo(because that's what they think Nintendo is going for) when they're clearly going for a stylized realism. And then you have a game like Rhythm Heaven Fever getting points docked in a review because the visual style doesn't bend toward realism at all. Why should a game be penalized for looking unique and not conforming to some 'expected' realism?
