  1. just to comment on Liontamer's 3 year old comment, haha.... midi-ripness eh? funny choice in words. I actually sequenced all the midi to show the difference from my streets of rage 2 soundfont I made to the original, you couldn't tell the difference. I changed the soundfonts and put guitar on, So I used the sequence I did to make this cover arrangement, which is why it's so close to the original. I recently found out it was being used as a bgm track for the streets of rage remake game, so even though the track would probably get rejected these days it seemed to work well as actual repetitious game music, which I'm glad.
  2. well, Videogames live is awesome (I'm going to the seattle show), but Play is another orchestra doing different music, I mean I would go just to hear this live if they still do it, I would probably cry whilst being played
  3. reggae huh? I don't know man, you might want to actually put up a real reggae tune
  4. I was in a third wave ska/punk band for 3 years back in the day, looking back, we did a decent job in the midst of a genre that was filled with crappy ska bands, I think that's the reason ska kinda died down, left a bad taste in all our mouths, but there were some great bands (all have already been mentioned except "mu330" and the "Bruce Lee Band"). My favorites back in the day were Five Iron Frenzy, Less Than Jake, Save Ferris and Buck O Nine Here's a track from our EP we put out back in 2000, band name was "Gimerstick" it was in that whole "christian" supertones/five iron frenzy sector http://www.purelense.com/music/Gimerstick/EP/02-Gimerstick _ Country Boy.mp3 and here's the whole cd in a zip for anyone interested http://www.purelense.com/music/Gimerstick/gimerstick_ep.zip
  5. I ran into this problem a few months ago, I studied both handhelds for a quite a few weeks before I purchased one. At first I thought I'd go with a DS, but the more I looked for games I just kept thinking to myself (hell, I'll never play that), most games are either for the casual (Wii route) or pointed towards kids. I ran into some psp games I thought I'd actually play (not including all the extra emulation ps1 dumps etc...). I'm happy to say that I bought a psp, I play it quite often (I ride the bus to and from work cause my car broke down). Currently playing Star Ocean: First Departure and Burnout Dominator. PSP looks to be more geared towards the hardcore gamer, there may not be a ton of titles currently coming out for the handheld, but since I started late it's like I have a ton of new possible games in front of me. I'll probably buy Metal Slug Anthology, KOF Orchi and Crisis Core soon.
  6. hahaha, congrats! dude this is awesome, never really got to know you guys, I was gone for a good few years, glad to see how even the videogame music scene can help bring 2 souls together in marriage.
  7. I'll probably be going to the seattle one also. Looking forward to it, it's sad though about all the pc game music they're doing, I mean it's decent, but not at memorable.
  8. great tune bro, enjoyed it much. another option for future medleys is to enter a tune into the Dwelling of Duels monthly contest, it's a live instrument arrangement contest where a lot of guitarists (and other instrument players) participate. It's pretty well known, and they keep all the entries in the archive. There is a theme every month, every three months there is a free month (arrange music from any videogame on any platform). There is no size limit. Also, you should also just release it on vgmix.com. http://dod.vgmix.com <-- dwelling of duels http://www.vgmix.com <-- vgmix even if this does get accepted, you need to release it elsewhere for quality sake.
  9. I've played quite a few of these games, some of my favorite games actually, my favorite in the genre (a sub genre maybe?) Tempest 2000 Anyone who owned an atari Jaguar (like myself and very few others) with this game understands. The game showed up again on the Saturn I believe, but the controls were not as wonderful as was on the Jag. This game is easily in my top ten list for games in any genre. I believe this is a rail shooter shmup, if I'm correct. Some dude made a pretty awesome freeware clone of the game, called Typhoon 2001 (very original), even has the same soundtrack as tempest 2000 (which was incredible for it's time and different from the Saturn version). You all need to download this and play it, it's free. http://typhoon.kuto.de/
  10. I love when this happens. Street Fighter 3 Third Strike was the case for me, listening to McVaffe's breakbeat piano car commercial remix was a tune I listened to a lot before actually playing the game. By the way, I am also playing Star Ocean First Departure. I am loving every minute of it, I'll have to play the rest of the series now.
  11. if they are looking for a jrpg experience again, then the Grandia series is the only one that makes the cut. I never could get into american rpgs, always bored me, I payed the 50 or so bucks for some of them, but could never really get into the stories. If they are like me, they are doomed on the pc as far as RPGs go. Going to to have to get a ps1 or ps2. I would heartily recommend the old snes squaresoft rpgs (chrono trigger, FF6, Secret of Mana), but truth is most normal non hardcore gamer people would have a hard time adjusting to the downgraded graphics with no cutscenes!!!! It's like when we were kids and our grandparents would watch old black and white movies, and we were all like, what the hell? If we could only get past the old school acting and simple props we might taste the epic artform of the past. Final Fantasy 6 was the best in the series and most people will never play it (unless they do a remake) because of the graphics. Ahem, one more thing though, heh... This is just me but, if they're more into the story telling on PC, get em some old school Lucas Arts adventure games. flippin Monkey Isaland games, "Full Throttle" "Day of the Tenticle" "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (talkie version). Those games are long shots, but they f-ing rocked! If I were you I'd get a ps2 cause like I said, pc sucks in this arena,
  12. I wouldn't mind grabbing these games, I had them or played them through at one point, and wouldn't mind having them again. another thing, whats with the overpriced gamecubes here? I was just at gamestop, they're selling them for $40, and thats a retailer. You'd think you'd find stuff cheaper when buying it straight from someone. I'd buy one for $30. I have 2 gc games that need a system to be played on.
  13. This track is awesome. Twas one of my favorites from the 16 bit era, I am impressed.
  14. I'm in prayer for you bro that you'll recover to good health. blessings -jx
  15. I haven't downloaded any remixes off the site for a while, but I thought I'd drop in to see what was up. BAM, mv + cammy's theme = obvious success so I couldn't resist. Beautifully done, the sax is ooooozing with yummy yums! Someone mentioned the streets of rage style, I was thinking of that also when I heard the mix, not surprising though. I think mv is a big fan of those soundtracks. SoR2 was probably my favorite soundtrack of the 16 bit era. I then checked out a few reviews, and was shocked to see negative reviews. I think some of these kids need to take a music lesson or stop their idle babblings. word -JX
