  1. They need to post some real news before a riot starts in this thread.
  2. Ooh, this is really nice. Orchestra (particularly the pizzacato strings) sounds great. Chromatic percussion is very well done. Brass is good. I love the feel of the arrangement. This is one of those mixes where I listen and think "this is how it's supposed to sound." My only gripe as far as arrangement goes is the switch to major right at the end seems a bit awkward. Not so much the transition as the fact that you have a brooding minor key piece and then it just switches to major right at the end for no apparent reason. Otherwise, I absolutely love this.
  3. Then again, being able to control this instantly takes Luigi from being one of the worst characters in the game to being playable and even, in the right hands, quite deadly.
  4. Guitar sequencing is absolutely brilliant. I've never heard a fake guitar that sounded this great. Hell, it's hard to make a real guitar sound this good. Arrangement is brilliant, production is excellent. Definitely a keeper.
  5. It is a widely known fact that as soon as one learns to wavedash, the game instantly ceases to be fun. Nobody who plays in tourneys actually enjoys the game. I had more or less quit playing melee a few years ago without even knowing of the existance of wavedashing or any other advanced techniques. When I learned about them, I got back into the game, learned the tricks, and I know play it daily. These advanced tactics are an additional challenge! Challenges are what make games fun. I have a lot more fun with the game now that my brother and I have learned these advanced techniques, primarily because it makes the game so much faster and more exciting. If you don't like wavedashing, don't do it. If you don't like playing against competetive-level players, don't do it. Nobody's faulting you for it. But seriously, you gotta be a real asshole to want these taken out just to piss off the people who enjoy them. EDIT: I think what would be really cool would be if there was an option to turn advanced techniques such as wavedashing on and off. That way people who think it somehow ruins the game can completely deactivate it, and those of us who still want to be able to do it will still be able to do it.
  6. Actually, come to think of it, Teran would make a better addition than Marina, since he has punches and kicks instead of just throws.
  7. I think Marina from Mischief Makers would make a great addition. It's unlikely to happen, though.
  8. I don't think Sonic would work well in a Smash game. But then, who could have forseen Falcon or Fox working in a smash game?
  9. I think they should stop trying so hard to make Yoshi suck. He has the potential to be a very good character, if it weren't for stupid and deliberate steps taken to make him suck. Not being able to jump right out of a shield, for example.
  10. As are doc's pills. That doesn't mean they can't be used to great effect. My brother used to be deadly with Yoshi. If you're good with eggs, Yoshi can be quite an evil little bastard.
  11. Awesome. This absolutely does justice to the game. EDIT: Fuck you, CHz. I wanted first review.
  12. This addresses one of my concerns about using the music for routines, but not the other: I often (in fact, almost always) have to modify tracks to make them work as floor routine music, which goes explicitly against part C of the terms of use. I have always asked the ReMixers before using their ReMixes as routine music. Does this constitute getting a separate license from the remixer? If so, then don't worry about changing the terms of use just to accomodate me; I can just continue to use remixes with permission (ie licenses) obtained directly from the arranger. IF we go by the assumption that I am using it under an independant license from the remixer, it raises another issue: should/could I still attribute the track to OCR if anybody asks? I would be using a modified version of the mix under a different license from the one offered by the site; though it would not be explicitly against the terms of use for me to attribute it to OCR, it seems it would be a violation of the submission agreement for the arranger to give me permission to do so.
  13. It appears that mario has much greater recovery range than in melee.
  14. OMG FLSLAYER SUCKS BALLS ... wait... Holy shit, this is actually really good. I can't believe I'm saying this of a mix that relies so heavily on slayer (WHICH IS STILL EVIL AND STILL SUCKS BALLS), but this is really quite good. The solo was especially well done.
  15. I also thought the yoshi music was quite meh.
  16. Jigs would be top tier were it not for the fact that he's insanely light; there are multiple characters who can kill him with an uncharged smash at under %50 damage. Otherwise, yes, he pwns.
  17. This mix is pure awesome. Use of samples from the game was brilliant.
  18. This sounds like something out of Gitaroo man. I like it.
