Just to clarify: for the percussion, the tones come from me doing hand percussion on the guitar, but Haroon did very extensive splicing. While I technically did play/record percussion for the first half, in the end it would probably be more accurate to say that I recorded samples, but haroon did the actual arrangement using those samples

My only complaint is that the lead guitar sounds a little too fake; a little too sharp on the attack of every note, and the tremolo seems to be just slightly too heavy. Usually a real guitarist will hit the note first, and then the tremolo starts slightly after the beginning of the note, but here the tremolo seems to start at the same time as the note being hit. Minor gripes with the lead guitar aside, I really like the arrangement. The other instruments all sound great (and honestly I suspect the lead wouldn't bother me if I wasn't a guitarist). Heavy-hitting, but still has a bit of that mellow ballad feel that I've always loved in your stuff. Very lush, very pretty, overall excellent mix

Ok, but what's the bad news? Honestly, I was considering pulling my track from the project just because of how much of a jackass Strader was being (not that it was in any way out of character for him). Now I'll actually do my best to finish it.

I like the choice of tones

HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING. I love absolutely everything about this mix. The bass, the B3, the piano, the composition, the production, the arrangement..... I could go on.

The mixing and balance sound good enough to me. I like the feel of the piano. I don't like the lead that comes in at 1:43; I'd use a different patch for that. Overall, it seems a bit tonally bland. It would benefit from a bit more grit, a bit more edge, I think. Not sure how best to go about this. Arrangement in the first section is pretty conservative, but you mix it up a bit more as you go.

So it looks like Darangen can't make it, which means I'll have a room to myself. If you're looking for a place to jam/game/crash/leave your stuff, hit me up.
