  1. I like it. It has subtlety, while still being accessible. I'm also fascinated whenever someone can take a short tune and turn it into something more, eh, feature length. Also Dhsu does good pie-a-no stuff.
  2. Ooh, DotA. It seems this thread is off to slightly different course than the original post. I'm interested in DotA, but not much else of WC3.
  3. Hmm I didn't know that Rocket Knight was on sale. Well there's always the next steam sale.
  4. Oh hey looks like I can play some more without having to man up the 30 bucks... It's worth it, but I just don't feel like paying yet.
  5. Ah good, another "I wont buy anything unless it's less than 5 dollars sale." Picked up Trine for 4 bucks.
  6. Umm, yeah the 3d is cool and all, but in actuality, it's the analog nub (always one generation behind, eh Nintendo?), and more powerful processor/graphics (combined with awesome first party titles) that has me buying it. But the real fact of the matter is, if Nintendo re-released the Gameboy Color, but with some kind of gimmick like mind control or something, while still making new Zelda/Mario/Metroid first party titles for it, I would still buy it... Maybe they already did do mind control.
  7. As far as FF7 pc mods are concerned, I do believe that there is a mod that lets you use the original PS1 psfs, which is my personal fave seeing as how you get the exact same quality as the PS1. ... Went and checked out the Quimm forums and wow, there are a lot more mods than there were last time I checked (something on the order of 3 years ago).
  8. Hmm, after looking over the Zelda SS footage, it seems Nintendo is trying to strike up a new balance between the "realistic" and Cell-Shaded looks. I've always liked the cell-shaded look myself, so this new development is looking pretty nice in my eyes. Well just about every franchise that I was wishing would get a new game is getting a new game.
  9. As far as the missing d3dx dll, the proper way to fix that is to run the DirectX End-User Runtime, and have it update to the latest versions of crap. About the zlib1.dll, just follow the advice Gollgagh, and grab it from dll-files.com. As far as configuring ePSXe, I always like to go with Pete's plugins, as they are pretty much the best. Though recently, I have just preferred to go with pSX, as I don't have to spend any time tweaking plugins to make stuff work. Well anyway, good luck getting stuff to work.
  10. On a somewhat tangential note, this flash cart will NOT run Star Fox 2, because Star Fox 2 used the Super FX 2 enhancement chip, which is unsupported by all (that I know of) flash carts/copiers. The only way to get Star Fox 2 on actual hardware is to grab a copy of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (though apparently any Super FX donor cart will work), de-solder the rom, and re-solder a compatible eprom that you have programed Star Fox 2 on. I've never tried it myself, but this thread contains many success stories. ... Hmm, the next time I have 30-40 bucks to spare, I may just have a go at it myself.
  11. Once upon a many years ago, I wanted to play SNES tunes on my gba with homebrew, and seeing as how pogoshell was only capable of playing only some basic mod/midi/it/tracked music I took it upon myself to find out how to convert spcs into something I could play. So I searched and searched the internet, and everything I found (including various spc->midi converters) sounded like crap, or was too complicated for stupid-younger-me. But it occurs to me that you don't necessarily want something that sounds good, but rather want something that reproduces the notes well. I think one of the programs that I used can be found here Anywho, your mileage may vary, seeing as how it was 2002 or 2003 when I last did any searching involving spc conversions. Good luck! Also, there is another program called SPC Tool that is also apparently pretty powerful and allows for spc->midi conversion, but it is also a DOS program, and is likely hard for just about anybody to use these days
  12. Just finished a run through cave story, where I took the time to beat the game with the Mimiga mask on, and it's not until they take the booster away that you realize how dependent on it you've become Also, I've gotten my fastest time yet on Hell at something like 8:40, and I'm kind of surprised, because even though I thought I was going through pretty slow, I usually take about 10 or 15 minutes to make my way through. Additionally, I only used the spur, and the missile launcher, seeing as how I don't like taking the time to level up any of my other weapons, and I don't like trying to avoid weapon energy with the nemesis. Also, as a neat tip for getting through Hell, on the screen right after the screen with all the blocks falling from the ceiling, you can grab the two hearts in the bottom right hand corner, go back up one screen, re-get those hearts, and rinse-repeat until your full. I find that particularly helpful, seeing as how the falling block screen is the place where I take the most damage, and certainly makes things a lot easier.
  13. Hmm, if you are really intent on opening the card without getting the correct bit, then I recommend the bic pen method, where you take a end of a regular bic pen (the kind with white casing is recommended, but the clear casing works too), melt it with a lighter (it becomes roughly the consistency of putty), stuff it over the screw, wait a little while for it to mold, then cool it down with ice (frozen vegetables work too ), water or whatever. and then hopefully it will work. Though actually I have only tried this with opening gamecubes, and do not know how well it works on NES carts. I suspect it would be harder, because while the gamecube had holes that were larger than the diameter of the bic pen, NES carts have very small holes, so it would be more difficult to get a good mold. You should totally try it out though, but like somebody else said, if you plan on opening a lot of carts, then I would recommend getting a real bit, seeing as how the bic pens only work for a limited number of screws.
  14. Ah, so that big fancy new patch came out did it? I don't suppose it added the only thing my heart years for (Deathmatch)? I've been pretty busy with other things recently (School, Megaman 10, speed running Commander Keen), though, I suppose I'll take some time to check out all the new bells and whistles this patch added.
  15. I have many, pm me, and you shall receive
  16. I got 30, not bad, but nothing special. I got the fire engine one on my first try with a wild guess, never heard of the game that goes with it though lol. Also, I am saddened that the tiger-copter is not Flying Tigers, spent a lot of time playing that game.
  17. Hey, I dont want this thread on page two! Also, I did a new Normal Any% run, and got 1:21. No video though, because my ZSNES smv desynced. I think I'm just going to do a console run anyway, despite how bad my capture card is.
  18. I absolutely loved MegaMan 9, I don't know why I haven't gotten this one yet. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.
  19. ... You're right, it was working when i posted. Ho hum, I guess I'll just upload it somewhere else. EDIT: Ok, try this one... Link
  20. Bah, it takes far too much effort to encode and upload these things. Therefor, you only get low quality. Enjoy! Edit: Link fixed.
  21. K, I just finished a 1:44 any% single segment run, and I'm currently encoding it into a shareable format. I'll probably have it uploaded by tomorrow, maybe I can even upload at school where they have a much better connection...
  22. In all actuality, I only have one SNES Jr, and a Super Famicom, while the other systems I used belonged to my brother, that I only had on hand for testing. I suspect that I might just set up ZSNES to do an AVI recording, and go with that.
  23. I got a game over before I even started playing. It seems that my capture card has a personal vendetta against All SNESs, as I can get half decent video quality with any other console. I tried one SNES (the phat kind), and two Super Famicoms with three different cables on both composite and S-Video on multiple games, and on every singe one, there were many random one pixel tall horizontal lines that would be shift to the right by just one pixel to really mess things up. All of the same cables on an N64 would look just fine. Humbug, well I suppose that I could do a run on virtual console, or emulate it, but it just makes me sad as I really want to record a speed run on actual hardware. I suppose another option would be to tape it, then capture it, or maybe even just run the signal through the vcr, then into the capture card to see if that fixes it...
  24. Been a while since I played DKC2, I am considering doing a speed run. I nominate Super Metroid for any future speed runs.
  25. I remember waaaay back in Jr. High there was a site with a Java Gameboy emulator that could be played from a web browser. Spent lots of time playing Zelda in one of my computer classes. Can't remember what ever happened to it, I suppose it was taken down because the website had romz. EDIT: OH Noes! My keyboard doesn't let me press enough buttons! No save & quit escape for me.
