  1. The Guardian Legend 'The Scarlet Halls of Night' by The Wingless
  2. No. never reduce the difficulty! I want a Megaman 9 kick-you-in-the-shins-and-steal-your-lunch-money kind of difficult 2D side scrolling Zelda game. Well actually I could go for Dungeons that aren't so ghastly that you either need to draw your own maps or swing by gamefaqs. And maybe make it so that you don't have to find an unmarked square on the world map in order progress. "GIVE NOTE TO RIVER MAN" my eye... Ok, so the game could use a little toning down on the difficulty.
  3. Does nobody remember Zelda II? That was a great game.
  4. What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk... Have at you! I'm really sad that they changed the dialog in the PSP version...
  5. I started making a game in RPG Maker XP once... But I never really thought up any story for it, so it kind of went nowhere... I took a semester of C++ recently, and I think that once I learn some more programming, It would be fun make an RPG from scratch. Still don't have any sort of story thought up though.
  6. 35$ is a bit pricey for this game, unless is it Complete in Box. Also, If anyone has a broken Ds Lite, I'd be interested in taking it off your hands. So; Want: Broken DS Lite [Ajax]
  7. I'd say www.dealextreme.com. I've ordered stuff from them before, so I believe that they are reliable, though the main reason to order stuff from there is that everything they have is CHEAP. Just make sure to read the reviews, because some of the stuff is really cheap for a reason. Also, make sure to pick up a tri-wing screwdriver, or you wont be able to get into your ds.
  8. Same here. I spent about an hour and a half trying to get it right, and once, just ONCE, I made it up, and then, of all annoyances I didn't manage to get all the red things. Other than that though, this game is surprisingly fun, for having only a one button control scheme (well 5 counting the arrow keys).
  9. I managed to pick up a 22 inch lcd monitor, that also has component inputs that handles up to 1080p, a while back for like... $220 which handles all my HD needs. It doesn't have a TV tuner though, but I don't watch TV anyway. A pity my only current gen console is a Wii... I don't think I have even used those component inputs yet.
  10. Yeah, these books are awesome... It's been a while since a read them, but I cant think of anything to say about them right now. However, I did get to speak with the author though at Conduit a while ago, He's a pretty cool guy. It's also interesting that he is the one who is also finishing the Wheel of Time series as well, and I think that he will do a good job at it. If you haven't ready anything by him, then I suggest you fix that problem by picking up one of his books. Heck, he even has one of his books available for free on his website. ...Wait, Hero of Ages is out already? Hmm, I'm going to have to pick me up a copy as I've only read the first two.

    Mother 3

I recommend DealExtreme as well, as i have bought more than a few things there, and everything has arrived in a timely manner (for HK shipping). Their prices are also ridiculously low. I myself own a m3ds real + GBA addon and it works flawlessly with Mother 3, but I think more cost effective solution would be to get one of the other slot one carts as well as one of those EZ-Flash 3 in 1's.
  12. That am2r demo is fun, but i think they need to do something about limiting the number of shots onscreen at a time. RAPID FIRE!! I must have unloaded all 60 of my missiles into Ridley in less than 10 seconds, that's ten missiles a second there. I'm also a bit annoyed how the morph ball bombs are aligned to some sort of grid, so in some situations the bombs are not placed directly under you and you go off at an angle. Also, your momentum gets killed when you try to go into a morph ball in mid air... not sure if that's a big or a feature though. But other than that, this is a top notch game/demo, and I'm exited(sp?) to see the final game.

    Mother 3

I just finished playing this game, and I must say that it was fantastic. One of the things that I loved most for this game was the difficulty. I never had to stop and grind, however I game over'ed about 8 or 9 times, but there was no place which was particularly impossible (though i must admit, there were a couple of boss fights that took quite a bit to overcome). Also, I really like what they did with the rolling HP counter, I feel they put it to much better use in this game than they did in earthbound. I love how they give you a chance to revive an ally that took mortal damage before their hp runs out. Incidentally enough, if you are quick enough on the draw, you can almost indefinitely keep yourself alive as long as you have Psi/items to sustain yourself. Also, they also did a good job with the money issue where, as long as you never ran away from fights, you would always have enough money to buy most of the best equipment available. The story was also superb as well, but for the sake of not spoiling anything (and lazyness) I wont expound any more. They did so many things right in this game that I daresay this is one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I cant understand why they didn't choose to localize this game... their loss I guess. So... when are we going to see a remix project of this game in its 250 track glory?

    Mother 3

I do believe that Nintendo announced they they were not planning on bringing it to the US, though I don't have anything to cite as evidence. Incidentally enough, I'm having a blast playing this game on my DS. Not gonna read much more of this thread until I'm done playing. This is a really top-notch translation/romhack.
  15. I'd pay for it, despite having beat it multiple times on my pc. Authors of games like this deserve the money.
  16. If i remember correctly, all you have to do is cut open a USB cable, cut open an Xbox cable, connect the colored wires, and plug it in, I believe that it doesant even need a driver. Yeah, I was right, Check it out i also know that there are programs out there that will take any game controller input and map joystick axises to mouse axises. Should be a walk in the park to wire a USB hub to those Xbox ports for four player action! Wait... it does need a driver, but one is provided in that link I gave you. EDIT: also in my previous post i said "stuffing computers into PC's" when I meant "stuffing computers into videogame consoles" Took me a week just to notice that...
  17. Stuffing computers into PC's is somewhat of a popular hobby among computer enthusiasts. I've seen my share of NES pc's, and I think somebody even managed to stuff a PC into a model of the millennium falcon. Anyway, I think the idea of an Xbox PC is pretty cool, especially if you manage to get a keyboard/mouse to plug into the controller ports.
  18. though despite how many instakill spikes there are, I still really like this game, because the gameplay engine is just so solid that after a while you can whiz through the level without worrying too much about how much life you have for the boss's crazy attack patterns, though even then, once you have the right weapons, things get easy there too, though Concrete Man is still pretty hard to do if he throws off your groove. Also, I cant believe how much time I spent playing Tornado Man's stage. It's a good thing the music is so good for that stage, or it would have driven me mad from the difficulty of all those timed jumps.
  19. I can agree on that, it seems that when I play stages I can fit them into two categories, the ones that you don't need to worry about the health bar because of the large amounts of instadeath, and the few that actually pose the risk of killing you with enemy hits. I've been playing this game pretty heavily over the course of this weekend, and I am now able to pass the first 8 levels on a single continue with zero shop goods. If i stock up on etanks (the final boss is just too much for me) I should be able to get the under 60 min achievement, maybe I'll even get the almost perfect one too... Also, I vote Galaxy Man as easiest boss/stage.
  20. This game is brutally enjoyable. Don't know how I will ever beat the final boss without E-tanks though. I felt pretty good getting by using only two on the final boss. Well, I certainly believe that this game was worth the 10 bucks I spent on it.
  21. As far as classic RPGs go (as in mind numbingly difficult) then I'd throw in my vote for 7th Saga as well. For games that are considerably easier, but still awesome, then give Lufia I/II a go.
  22. I managed to make it to awash before my brain committed suicide, I wish i would have saved my solutions to some of these puzzles, as a whole bunch of them were really retarded. Also, try completing every level without moving the starting position of the red key piece. It is at least possible till awash, because it wasn't until I watched some others' solutions when stuck at awash that i noticed that said red pieces could be moved... Also, this was addicting enough to steal 3 hours of sleep time (3:00AM to 6:00AM my time). MY entire body cries out for sleep.
  23. I wouldn't be surprised if this was another one of those retro VC wiiware titles like Megaman 9, or a DS game with gimmicky touchscreen controls. Ridiculously annoying touchscreen controlled bonus rooms anyone? Well whatever said announced 2D Donkey Kong game is going to be, I'll at least check it out.
  24. Never played the Genesis version of Aladdin, going to have to check it out.
  25. As a somewhat off topic side note, I'm a bit surprised by the Disney platformer hate. I really loved Aladdin (the SNES version, never played the Genesis one), and Lion King wasn't that bad either. I had a fun time playing Mickey's Magical quest too. No joke. But back on topic, my favorite aspect of the DKC series was the Y-button roll attack into dash that could also get you midair jumps. Also the subtle differences between Diddy and Donkey, added variety to the way you played the game, though I must admit, in the first game the differences between characters were little compared to the other DKC games (primarily with Dixie's ability to glide). Another aspect that I enjoyed in DKC was the speed. While not as fast as the Sonic games, you could still get things moving pretty fast. I always liked being able to dash through an entire level, barreling through enemies, with only a pause to find a secret or pick up a barrel. Of course I also enjoyed slower platformers as well, like Super Castlevania IV. Though I must admit, the collision detection was not the best out there, and there have been a few times when I have jumped on an enemy only to find that I was the loser of the encounter.
