  1. That's usually the tricky part there.
  2. I just barely found out that you can get tons of cool augments by giving your lame augments to temp chars before they leave your party. Looks like I've missed out on dualcast as well as a load of other goodies. I'm considering starting over again because those augments would have been very useful. Also, is there anything good that can come from having a cursed ring? the cursed shield from FF6 always gives me hope that perhaps you can uncurse them and, but from what I can tell it's just mostly worthless.
  3. Hmm, this is not the game I remember I don't like the fact that in the tower of Zot, those ice beasties can kill all of my characters but Cecil with a single icestorm. It wasn't even this hard in the original FFIV for SNES. Tellah is still a weak old fart too, but that's not new. It's just that they now expect you to be able to use him well. Though incidentally it is probably my fault that my characters suck so much, because I thought i could just power my way through the game until I got some more permanent characters. Also, I cant get to the town of Mithril anymore to pick u good equipment, because my airship is unable to do anything but go to the Tower of Zot, and black Chocobos cant land in Chocobo forests. EDIT: hmm, with some handy running skills, i was able to beat the Tower of Zot easily, all I had to do was never fight the Ice Dogs (or whatever they are called). They really should have balanced out those enemy skills a bit more.
  4. I played long enough to find out that you can win with Megaman by just holding down the "P" key. Har har take that master hand!
  5. This thread... so old... I remember posting on it in like... 2004 Well as far as hard boss's go, or even hard games for that matter, 7th Saga is a real beast. Indecently enough it's one of the few games that got harder when it was brought to the US. I mean, if you get halfway through the game, only to get killed by one of the other heroes and have all you runes kifed... that's it, do yourself a favor and press the reset switch. I mean, any RPG where you are required to fight a guy that is always at or above your level, but with better stat per level bonus' is always going to be a challenge. On a somewhat sad note, I had gotten a long ways into the game, somewhere near the end I believe, and was actually starting to get to a point where I could survive random encounters on a regular basis, when the SRAM battery on my SNES cart died, that's right, I was even playing it on it's original medium, and I lost my save. Not sure if I'll ever be able to pick up that game again.
  6. Heeheehee, I'm surprised I caught that reference to MiB.
  7. I did a search for "cuil", and was given a geography lesson, however in the first 13 pages of search results I skimmed over, not once did I see the webpage of the search engine itself listed. I mean, I know what I'm going to find when I google Google... If your going to start a search engine, then you might as well list yourself... EDIT: Ah, I suppose that's why I got the geography lesson.
  8. To start off, this post has some spoilers, so don't read if you haven't played FFIV before... I'm just sad that they made it so that when Cecil first becomes a paladin, you could no longer just kill off all your temporary characters and then level Cecil to 50-75, and then have all of your permanent characters come in at your level (except for edge, he always comes in at lvl 20). I found it mildly hilarious when my brother leveled Cecil up to 75 only to find that Yang came back at only level 20-ish. Of course I suppose that being level 75 a quarter way through the game ruins some of the fun...
  9. Oh yes, I also forgot to mention that I loaded it from ISO from memory stick, which probably has a lot to do with me not noticing as much lag i skills, however, Brycepops has already said that he tried it with two different ISO's and that he still notices lag in some moves. So while loading an ISO from a fast memstick probably helps with slowdown, it does not remove it entirely.
  10. I must say I loved the relocalization of FFT, and strangely enough I did not notice any slowdown, however it has been a considerably long time since I played it's PSX counterpart. Also to note, this is one of the few games that have had voice overs I like. And if you really want to reduce the slowdown, it has already been mentioned that you can clock your processor to 333mhz (I think the PS1 emulator clocks to this speed by default anyway).
  11. I never rent video games anymore. I hardly even buy games nowadays. Though I can't remember how many times I rented Super Mario All-stars, Kirby Super Star and Megaman X4. I pumped so much money into renting those games, that I should have bought them.
  12. It was just something I threw together in a few minutes, using SMILE
  13. Man, I'd hate to have anything even remotely resembling that happen to me... The track SnowBound he did for the Bound Together project is one of my favs, and it really would be a shame to lose such a talented Remixer/Super Metroid player. And seeing as how I was bored/inspired, I decided to make a "Get Well Soon Card": Don't hesitate to watch it more than once
  14. For a while, I would play through Super Metroid once (or even more) a day. At the pinnacle of this obsession I was able to do a continuous 100% run in 1:39. With save states, I was able to pull it off in 1:05. I also did the same thing with DKC3, landing at 2:55 for my best time at a 103% run. Other games I like to beat in a single sitting are: Megaman X Megaman X4 Kirby Super Star (My most favorite Kirby game) Starfox64 (It was the best back when me and two of my brothers were fiercely competing for the high score) Super Mario bros. 3 (no warps, you cheat yourself if you don't do every level) Super Mario World (the sram battery on my cart died, so I'm kinda forced too) Metroid Prime (Sequence breaking is so much fun!) The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (sometimes I can't beat this one in a single sitting.) Man, just thinking about these games makes me want to hook up their respective console and have a go at it. Also, I was also thinking of adding Sonic 3 and Knuckles, because at one point in time I played it obsessively, but now I don't particularly care for it.
  15. I'm very happy with this remix project. First memorable quote about this game. "Dude, if you nail 'em hard enough, they wrap around the screen and you can continue wailing on them as they try to get back to their side." Nice to know a DS remake is on its way. Hopefully it turns out better than the GBA one did.
  16. Ah, this looks like fun, I figure I'll hop on the bandwagon as well.
  17. And if you dont want MIRC because it is trialware, then google Xchat, and then do what Arek says.
  18. Just got my Capture card fully set up, so now i'll be able to have my computer and my Wii in the same room for chatting/videocapturing. I'm so excited...
  19. Hey, not sure if this had been asked yet, but does anybody know if there is any significant difference in using a Wii lan adapter vs. using the built in WiFi? That would be nice to know becuase from my experience, there is usually some lag generated from using wireless. If it does happen help by some decent margin, I will consider buying This. I've also been planning on buying a TV tuner/capture card for my pc. But I'm a little leary about buying the cheap ones because they sometimes have slow response times when streaming stuff, and thats bad when playing games, well I could also just use Brawl's replay feature to then stream to my computer to... So much to do before brawl arrives. On another note, I plan on joining in on the ClanOCR goodness, but i'm not going to attempt to claim a track yet.
  20. These are only capable of running GBA roms, but in a previouse post, I said that you can emulate GB on it using GoomBA Color with very good results. Also, because the emulator doesan't use gameboy color/mono hardware, it will work on the Gameboy Micro/NDS. Unfortunatly, if you ever want something that can run Gameboy mono/color games nativly, it'll cost you an arm and a leg, as nobody is manufacturing them anymore.
  21. NES emulation is excellent via PocketNes, though the sceen scaling is somewhat annoying (but still quite playable). GB/C emulation is in quite passable condition as well via GoomBA Color However, from what I've read, LSDJ may or may not work with GoomBA Color depending on whether or not the suggested changes in This Thread were ever incorperated (there was one of the older versions of LSDJ that was made to work with GoomBA regardless of that issue). One think to note, however, the sound quality will always be subpar with GoomBA, because the emulator passes sound information directly to the GBA's sound processor, but I am no audiophile myself and I can hardly tell the difference. Also, as far as GBA flashcarts go, I would suggest getting This one or This one.
  22. 26%. I got numbers 3,7,8,9,10,13,17,20,23,35,39,45,48. Also, #48 is not using the name of its US release! Had me stumped for the longest time...
  23. I figure i'll add my 2 cents to the item debate as well. Personally I prefer playing with items, but as far as tourneys are concerned I think that playing without items is probably the best way because sometimes completly and utterly unpradictable and uncounterable things happen. For example; One time when I play playing melee wth my bro, I was sliding while doing my down smash with Luigi, when a bob-omb spawned in the middle of my move and killed me. There was absolutly nothing I could do about it, and quite frankly it pissed me off. the fact that it happened twice in the same match didn't help much either. Of course I thought it was hilarious after the match had ended, but had something like that happened during a tourney, I probably would have killed someone. So while items add a fun and enjoyable element to the game, crazy bob-omb freak accidents do happen and seeing as how tournaments are primarily a competition of skill, there has to be a controlled environment in order to keep aforementioned incidents from occuring.
