Do you try avoiding parallel fifths?
tweex replied to Langriman's topic in Music Composition & Production
With this being the case, then the majority of my orchestral work is completely wrong ! My melodic intervals, many times, jump several intervals above the note preceding it and I write octaves CONSTANTLY for my instruments (strings together, brass together, woodwinds together, etc etc). However, from a programming standpoint, writing octaves is a very effective way of hiding a synthetic sound! But, as everyone is saying, to each his own . -
Tweex Music Composes Music for Air Jamaica Commercial!
tweex replied to tweex's topic in General Discussion
NOT TRUE!! I'm 1/512th Jamaican. -
Tweex Music Composes Original Piece for Air Jamaica Duty Free Commercial Air Jamaica has just released their new round of duty free commercials to the public and the music on the spot was done by none other than Tweex Music. The piece is original and was composed specifically for Air Jamaica. Anyone who is flying this airline can expect to see the spot, not to mention anyone who is in an airport in the near future. This marks the second airline commercial that Tweex Music has composed music for with more on the way! To see this and more, check out www.tweexmusic.com! CLICK TO WATCH NOW

Having taken Piano lessons not too long ago and having been in a similar situation, it seems that you may have misunderstood what he was asking you. My instructor asked me the same thing, but it wasn't "classical music" that he meant, but rather a classical approach to learning piano. I.e. reading the grand staff, sheet music, etc. versus picking things out by ear and some coaching with your physical technique. I would be AMAZED if he's really asking you to choose between classical music and rhythmic music.

Is your track using one shot samples or are they long multihit samples (like a loop)? Also, why don't you post the RNS file s we can take a look at it.

Huge VSL/VI/Vienna samples lot for transfer/sale
tweex replied to Vampire Hunter Dan's topic in General Discussion
I saw on your site that you have demos available for some of the work that you've done with the package. Would it be too much trouble to post one or two of them? I'm genuinely curious. VSL is so expensive as it is that any price reduction is a good deal. -

A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Online
tweex replied to Malaki-LEGEND.sys's topic in General Discussion
Very true, but the nature of all MMOs is that it is constantly changing with th addition of new material and the refinement of existing. The development team continues working on it even after the game's release, unlike most non MMO titles. I can understand the need for a monthly fee to cover those expenses. Perhaps not as high as 12-15, but a monthly fee non the less. I keep telling myself the same thing, but I'm not listening to me . -

A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Online
tweex replied to Malaki-LEGEND.sys's topic in General Discussion
Unless I'm misunderstanding, you don't need a new copy of the game to create/add an account to an existing copy. Sephfire, his wife, and myself, all had our accounts on his PS2 and he and I had our accounts on my PS2. Now, if you lose your copy or if it's stolen, then yes, you need to get a new one . Your account may have been deleted but I doubt it since I've had mine since 2004 and haven't played in a year or two. Other than being banned, I can't think of a single reason why you would have had to have purchased a brand new copy! -
I couldn't disagree more! Never before has a person been able to sit down in front of their personal computer and written/produced a piece of music that, for many people, will sound identical to a real orchestra! Sure, $1000 may seem expensive, but compare it to actually using a 40 piece (smaller) orchestra for a non union gig (much less expensive): -$15,000-$30,000 for 3-5 hours in a day for the orchestra, engineer, studio space, equipment rental, arrangers, composers, transcribers, etc. Add on additional costs for post production mixing, mastering, editing and more. -$1000 for a piece of software (or less if you go for the lower packages) that you will have permantly to use any time, any where, for any project. If that's not catering to the "bedroom producers" and home studios, I don't know what is.

A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Online
tweex replied to Malaki-LEGEND.sys's topic in General Discussion
But who's to say that's a bad thing? I've said it once, I'll say it again: If they would take the ease of game play from WoW and combine it with the aesthetic of XI, then I would die happy! -
So I'm sitting at my computer listening to One Winged Angel (this version: ). The choir comes in singing Sephiroth, when my girlfriend, who is laying on her bed next to me, asks in all seriousness "Are they saying 'suck my balls'?"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I think I poo'd a little from laughing so hard.

OCR01886 - Final Fantasy XI Online "Battling Despair at Dawn"
tweex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Man, I admire you for still powering through the game! With all the changes they have made, I've heard/seen that the dynamic of the game has changed quite a bit! I'm really glad that you've enjoyed the mix mate. Much more to come, I assure you! Yeah man, listening to the music, whether remixed or original, always brings a strong feeling of nostalgia for the game as well. I'm very happy that you like the mix. It really took me back when I was writing it! Back in the day of Tweek the BLM, I was on the Odin server! 75blm, 68whm, 63rng, and everything else below that. I do miss it, but XIV is really starting to grab my interest. We'll see what happens . Once again, thanks for all the comments everyone! -

OCR01886 - Final Fantasy XI Online "Battling Despair at Dawn"
tweex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Haha, yeah, I was asked about that several times before OCR posted the song so I'm quite pleased it's up here now for people to download! Thanks for the comments and enjoy the track! Hehe, thanks Rashad. The track has definitely come a long way since I first let you listen to it. I'm glad that you like it ! Yeah mate, when I was working on that opening animation, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a piece of music that would work really well with it. When I made an edit of this one, and threw it in place, it worked so much better than I could have ever expected! Yeah man, the intensity of the track really was the main focus of the piece. I wanted the track to drive itself and create mounds of tension! I'm excited that you felt that emotion! You and me both, mate! I love any orchestral remix that sounds epic that OCR produces. Hell, I love just about any track, remix, or OST that has this sound. I'm very happy to see I'm not the only one ! Hahahaha. Boy do I ever know that feeling! Many many late nights and early mornings spent playing the game! What server were you on? Thanks for the comment and I'm glad that you like the mix! You know, I've had a couple people make a similar comparison to LotR. It's funny, because when I listen to it, I hear more "Pirates of the Caribbean" in there. I'm not really sure why. They are quite similar, I suppose ! Dusk and Dawn is the source that's covered all the way throughout the piece. The first notes that you hear in the track come directly from the source (it's even in the same key ). Despair and Dungeon Battle 2 are placed throughout the piece as well. I'm in the same boat with you. Even though I can look back on the game and see just how much of a time dump that it was, it is still the first game I ever loved and I don't think I will ever be able to let it go! Here's to FF XIV correcting those flaws to make an incredible MMO! Thanks to all for the comments! I'm overjoyed that you all have enjoyed the piece! -
