  1. If there was such a thing as "gentle" four on the floor, this would be the embodiment of that style. The arrangement is simple, yet it has a lot of layers behind it. Nothing stands out, but nothing is too quiet. It's got a nice balance to it and it's easy on the ears! The repetitive nature of the track gets a little grating, but on the whole, it's a nice piece. Again, for something done 9 years ago, it blows anything I could have done back then out of the water!
  2. Hard to believe this was made 9 years ago. Very simple mix that would work really well as the backing track for a hiphop/rap track. I didn't have a problem with the snare. The transition into the gentle four on the floor section was interesting. I didn't really like the abrupt ending and would have liked to have heard more happen and for a little more growth in the track, but on the whole, simple isn't a bad thing.
  3. As a musical artist, I find that the best way for me to appreciate another artists work is to view all their work collectively. You hear growth, evolution, redefinition of sound, improvements, and so much more! These can be the very things that are missed by listening to one track here, another there, etc. So, what I am beginning is a new review procedure in which I will review all the remixes from one person collectively before moving onto the next! Whether the artist has one remix or fifty is irrelevant! Make no mistake, this is not a favorites thread. The OCR artist is chosen at random (based on the randomization feature of the iTunes playlist). Not only will you, the listener, discover avenues of the music that you didn't realize before, but you also honor them by reviewing their entire body of work! I encourage anyone to follow along with the random artists that iTunes provides me or perhaps you can spend a little time honoring a remixer that you've become fond of! I'll update this thread when I move onto another remixer so those of you who are following along can keep up! Let's have some fun! The list (in review order): 1. Franz Keller (complete - post 9) 2. Darangen (complete - post 4) 3. Quinn Fox (complete - post 13) 4. Rimco (complete - post 15) 5. K. Praslowicz (complete - post 19) 6. Trenthian (complete - post 21) 7. 4. Haha. PG Banker is my good friend and the owner of Big Pipe Creek. He and I are the ones who scored it. PG has also been producing it. They just haven't had a chance to change the credit yet .

  8. I'm pumped and I rarely get that way these days for games! Whether you love or hate Jack Black, you gotta admit that this is the perfect role for him and Schafer made the right choice in getting him!
  9. Rashad, also keep in mind that when you have the Master Combi, the default settings is that the limiter is the only active device. You have to manually trigger the EQ, Stereo Imager, and the Compressor. The EQ may be "On" but it's set at 0 so it makes no difference. Having the limiter on from the beginning is not a bad thing and when I use Reason, I ALWAYS have it on. I also almost always activate the high shelf as well at some point.
  10. Went out and got my copy today. I haven't played Halo 1 or 2 in a LONG time and I haven't played 3 but, I now own all four of them and will be doing a big Halo campaign marathon to go through all the story lines! I'm excited!
  11. Sephfire and Tweex Music Introduce Animation Series: Boot Camp Sephfire and Tweex Music recently completed a new animation series known as Boot Camp! The animation was done by Daniel ’sephfire’ Floyd and it follows the endeavors of a new army recruit going through Boot Camp training. The 3 part series of 10 second animations illustrate his attempts to successfully navigate the obstacle course. He fails miserably at each and continues to escalate to the wonderful finale. For the next two weeks, we will be releasing the two other pieces in the collection. The music is meant to sound both militaristic and comedic in which a memorable melody is produced. The sound design is a mixture of realistic SFX and more stylized/cartoon design. Each is supposed to capture the essence of the piece and resolve it in the 10 short seconds that the animation takes place in! The animation is masterfully done and embodies the hopeless efforts of the army recruit! Find the links to the different installments below. Enjoy! Part 1 - WallPart 2 - Tires Part 3 - Logs
  12. I agree with Brandon whole heartedly. Any piece of software that you're not familiar with will typically have a steep learning curve at first. Stick with what you have and learn it. I guarantee that your next piece of music based software will be much easier to grasp if you already know the workings of another!
  13. I've got a two year streak on this bad boy. I'm in.
  14. Native Instruments has been crafting a new piece of software/hardware called Traktor Scratch Pro. It's all digital and works on Time Code discs and/or vinyl. Brilliant stuff. Take a look at it as it's what I have used: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-scratch-pro/ Ableton Live is good too, but I prefer it for more of a performance piece of software for triggering loops or sections of an original song. Its what I use for original tracks that I spin in which I have the stems of the track ready so I can build the song however I feel like it. Six-to-one in the end and it's all about what you're most comfortable with.

  16. Tweex Music/Brian Arnold featured in News Article for the Red & Black The Red & Black, a newspaper developed by the University of Georgia (my alma mater), has interviewed me for an article in which they follow the lives of recent alumni in their careers. The piece gives a bit of background on the history of my musical career, the basic process of what I do today, and a little bit about where I’m heading. It’s a great way to get an inside view of what I do both for Tweex Music and Hummingbird Productions. The full digital article can be found here: ONLINE ARTICLE. If you are on the UGA campus, be sure to pick up a hard copy! For those of you who might not be able to procure a copy, here is a link to what the front page of today’s issue looks like: FRONT PAGE. More news and updates coming soon so be sure to check back in! Check out www.tweexmusic.com for all the news!

  18. Only a few more. When I'm rolling in the Airline dough, I'll be sure to throw OCR a private charter or two.
  19. Thanks for the Kind words everyone. These pieces of music have been a blast to do. Believe me, more are on the way!
