OCR01216 - Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind "Fear Not"

Sweet stuff. Great arrangement. Synths are good and used well, the beats are decent, but the weak part of the mix imo. Noice stuff. -

I assume you mean you want to group stuff. You can highlight what you want to group, right click, then select 'group'. Or you can use the pencil tool and drag it over the area you want to group. As for your other question, i'm not sure if you mean you do or don't want to do the 'green box around slider' method (this is called automation, btw). But, I think that's about the only method there is. You'll have to create a new track in the sequencer and set it to control the mixer that has the volume knob you want to automate. Then right click the knob and select edit automation. Draw your automation for the fadeout. This stuff is all in the getting started manual that came with the software. You should check it first before asking people here. Good thing I'm killing time in the library between classes -

OCR01189 - Beyond Good & Evil "Frame of Mind"
sgx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Oh yea, I forgot I stuck that in there. I was working on putting the BGaE melody in there and I started hearing that Chrono Trigger melody in my head (even though I haven't played CT much at all), so I just stuck it in there for one phrase. If you want to specifically know who did what, here is the rundown on the arranging: SGX: 0:00-1:40 destructo: 1:40 - 3:42 SGX: 3:42 - 4:30 destructo: 4:30 - 5:34 SGX: 5:34 - end and then I did some general mixing/mastering, and arranged for the vocal parts. and Aurora sang . We're glad you're all enjoying this! -

I've got the Reason project file here if anyone wants to look at it: http://www.supergreenx.com/rns/Frame%20of%20Mind.rps Vocals, some EQing and compression were done outside of reason, so this file is not totally complete. -

That's very good! Its amazing how much the unison machine rawks. Bypass the unisons on there, and those synths sound so shitty. -

Heheh. This makes a pretty good demo of Reason's Orkester soundbank . Love the stings. Beat is pretty tight. Nice snare smack. Drums definitely could use some changing up once in a while. Those tappy hit hats or whatever keep going through the WHOLE song. Nice stuff tho. Dig it. -
OCR01165 - Final Fantasy VIII "The Lost Horizon"
sgx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
You know what, I'm gonna drop my review from vgmix in here, cuz I said it better before: This is VERY nice. You use light percussion really nicely, and you really make this song ebb and swell. The arrangement is creative and interesting. Around 2:40 is my favorite part with a bunch of really interesting moody chords (that's what I liked about your other originals too). Couple small things I would suggest: The piccolo needs some reverb or something. It kinda sticks out a bit and sounds a bit fakey compared to the rest of the mix. The piano maybe could use some brightening up with a little upping of the high freqs. Though maybe a more mellow sound was what you were going for. This mix is like, REALLY good. Everyone should check it out. I look forward to more. -
Its from that town when you go back in time with Ted. Its only heard a couple times in the game. The track on the OST is titled "Forgotten Days".

OCR01161 - Halo "Fall from Above (You Can't Stop)"
sgx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I heard this a while ago from vgmix I think and thought it was quite tight. I've checked out some other Arkimedes tunes and like his style a lot. The "can't stop" voice may actually be his own, but vocoded, as I know Arkimedes does a lot of voicework and loves his vocoder in his other tunes. Beats are tight, synths are good, this has style. Only a couple things bug me: this song feels like a series of buildups with no payoff. Also, I thought the drums could be in your face a bit more. Cool stuff. -

Well if you copy sequencing from one file to another, the tempo will automatically change to what it is in the file you are copying into. So, you'll have to use time stretching to change the length of the notes to get that sequencing back to a similar tempo as before. (Select the sequencing you want to change, right click, change events, then enter in a time stretch value) This will work fine, but now any editing of that section will be kinda annoying since the grid divisions and snap-to of the project won't correspond to your stretched stuff. -

You can highlight, copy and paste all the stuff you did in the sequencer into the other reason file in one big group. Just make sure your sequencer's tracks are in the same order between the files and your racks are the same. The copy/paste function is a bit weird, so Reason may make all new sequencer tracks below where you were trying to paste them. Just highlight and drag the automation upward. Though it sounds like you will need to be doing this a lot and it may get messy since your song keeps alternating different time sigs. You could also just compose while ignoring the gridlines' time sig divisions. -

I don't think I'll be mixing any more Bemani tunes any time soon. I don't like most of the music (I didn't like B4U....that mix started as a joke), though the original A is a pretty tight song. I also didn't really want to hit more than one song from a particular series of games (though I may do Panzer Dragoon again). So, people can like stop requesting Bemani songs from me . The answer will 99.9% be no. Glad you like the mix though! -
OCR01160 - Sonic Adventure "LightSpeed"
sgx replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Pretty good job. I like: Percussion is great! 303 synth is noice! Mastering pretty clean. Good structure. Don't like: The original song. I already didn't like the original, and I don't think this song translates well into trance. It sounds goofy to me. It's trying to sound hardcore/mysterious/trancy with a really happy-yay melody. The section around 3:15 is a real big example of that for me. I don't think this is any fault of the remixer or anything (other than iffy song selection ). Sir Nuts did well with what he had. This mix sounds more like a game remix trance song than just a sweet trance song. If that floats your boat, that's cool, but it doesn't mine. Good stuff. -

you need to make a sequencer track for the mixer so you can control it. Once you paint in the panning automation, you can actually group the automation and copy paste the pattern if you like. Will save a lot of painting if you're making a pattern. -

It's the same guy so it will probably be super heavy (yea, I can't do his hard stuff either) It is going to be entered in some step competition, so it will be pretty hardcore. I'll ask him if he can make an easier step file for it in addition to the hardcore one. It would probably only take him a few minutes. -

http://www.supergreenx.com/rns/SGX%20-%20Kick%20Your%20A.rns This is the Reason project file if any Reason users wanna take a look at it. It's pretty CPU intensive, so be careful I post all of my Remix .rns files on my website. I have a guy working on a stepfile for a short-edit of this mix for use in DDR sim programs. I'll post back in here when its available or you can watch my site www.supergreenx.com. -
One of my favorite mixes. Sweeet, man!
