  1. well if you are playing on a ps3, which you are because you are in japan, there is an optional dungeon at the end in which you can get an item called the hi-pod. with it you can listen to your own music while playing the game and it certainly makes the arena less tedious
  2. i think you should skip eternal sonata and play resonance instead if you like crazy battle systems and jrpgs eternal sonata is as linear as ff13 (not that that is a bad thing in my book)
  3. one other thing that is cool about this game is that the trophies are actually fun to get and not ridiculously time consuming and boring like star ocean or Final Fantasy XIII
  4. ah i got kinda sick of squarepusher i might as well give one of my own suggestions here:
  5. superb suggestions so far i had a blast last night
  6. resonance was really a great game. so was star ocean with the japanese voice acting. didn't really like eternal sonata though. but yeah resonance has that kind of old school feel while having a (maybe overwhelmingly) innovative battle system. it's really hard to explain
  7. thanks i will check it out when i get back home also i should mention that by "getting high", i meant on weed or hash.
  8. Hey I was looking for some trippy music to listen to when you are high. what do you recommend ocr ?
  9. they don't need to because 1080p on such a small screen is useless. a lot of the ps3's power is used to render hd stuff
  10. i don't think this is a very good idea how realistic would it be to grapple air ? fighting cannot possibly be realistic without physical feedback
  11. no but i don't pretend i do it might have been a design decision, might have been shitty programming i don't know i guess it just struck home since i actually have been a game programmer and it is surprising how gamers like to place the blame on programmers' incompetence and/or laziness
  12. lol at the "sega are shitty programmers" argument you have no idea what you are talking about
  13. i hate trophies with the burning passion of a million suns i don't really feel like i have completed an rpg if i didn't do everything in it, and most rpg trophies are ridiculously long and stupid to obtain see, disgaea 3, final fantasy 13, star ocean 4
  14. if everything else fails, i use fire it has served me well so far
  15. wow more pop hate notice how people who actually make music are much less likely to jump on the pop hate bandwagon ?
  16. 1) find a good looking girl 2) become her friend 3) make her tell her friends and yours how nice this music is that goes for everything in life really
  17. wow what i really wanted to know is whether or not the community would be interested in being involved with the music of this game, not read size 72 crap
  18. lol settle down it's just a game mechanic that you don't like, and i've never heard anyone get so worked up about it, especially since it doesn't happen often
  19. critical finish in Soul Calibur is the equivalent of chip damage in Street Fighter. It's just a way to punish turtles. that being said, it doesn't happen very often at all, especially at high level play, but i guess if you don't like it, you don't like it
  20. i mostly agree, except on those points: 1) Complexity. I could understand if you were talking about tekken where you need to memorize the timing of complex 10 hit combos or whatever, but really I think soul calibur is easier in terms of execution that most if not all 2D fighters. Usually the biggest combos are something like 5 hits and it does not matter if you cannot pull them off because they don't do much more damage than easier stuff. In soul calibur you have 1 button for horizontal attacks, 1 button for verticals, 1 for kicks and 1 for guard. For most characters the hardest input you have to learn is a QCF (hadouken). Really complexity and difficulty in execution is what turned me off from blazblue and super street fighter and why I love soul calibur so much. 2) Broken characters. You are right about Kilik I guess. A Kilik that spams 2 moves can win the match just like a Ken that spams hadouken and shouryuken can win the match. It's a cheap tactic for beginners because it is quite hard to defend against, but once you find out how it becomes as easy to beat as a 'flowchart' Ken. Also there is arguably 1 banned character in Soul Calibur 4. I don't see how balance is an issue. Netcode I totally agree should have been much better.
  21. Hello, there is talk about a new Soulcalibur being developed, and the producer (Harada Katsuhiro) has expressed interest in being closer to the community for this one. He has asked 8wayrun.com, which is the main hub of the American competitive community, to provide opinions on what should and should not be in the game and to verbalize their interest by way of a petition. I know petitions are usually useless but this time it is a bit different, seeing as the producer himself has asked for it. If you are interested in signing the petition and providing ideas for the future game, you can find it at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Petition-to-Namco-for-Soul-Calibur-5/139645629404991. But more importantly, I was thinking it would be awesome if OCR could be involved in the soundtrack for this game like you were with SF2HDR. It would probably be a good publicity stunt, would cost nothing to make and would certainly be well-reviewed everywhere if the music is of the same quality as the other projects. Thoughts ?
  22. yay we have a trailer warning might be nsfw
  23. companies are not stupid about this issue. copy protection, even though it can be circumvented, is still useful against a large user base that does not pirate games, be it by fear of repercussions or lack of knowledge
