  1. Linkin Park? No, I felt like this came out of some adult contemporary station. It's more great easy listening stuff by McVaffe.
  2. I used Audacity in video editing class. It's pretty good, and yes the envelope is a nice feature. Electronic Cosmo's MPEG Suite is the encoder I use the most for making mp3s. It's a small, no frills program. But it might get confusing to use if you keep your files under a bunch of folders (the file display windows are pretty small).
  3. My soundfonts revert to default when I load my song. I have to load up the soundfonts that I use on every channel, every single time. Is my Fruity Soundfont Player a demo version probably? It could get hard to remember exactly what sound I used in each channel. Also, I noticed many soundfonts have a low pitch ceiling and play nothing on high notes, and then I'm forced to use notes of a lower octave. Surely there's a way around this.
  4. This piece is full of transitions and changes in time signature and it still comes together very well. While I agree that the piano part is very emotional, my favorite part is in the beginning. The far Eastern touch here really makes me imagine Link in the dark world for the first time, where everything looks strange and foreign to him. And it's not too often when an OC Remix paints a very vivid picture of the game for me. Another job well done by McVaffe.
  5. Great song, you can feel the Spanish influence here. I've been wanting some Spanish or Latin-sounding OC Remixes as of late, and Rayza delivers.
  6. I know these songs not from playing JSRF but by playing them as Stepmania originals. This song takes samples and uses them constantly without becoming too repetitive. And the drumwork is very groovy and excellent.
  7. For a while I thought 'wait, that SBM2 song would sound great in jazz, or a piano ragtime'. My wish came true. I first heard this song over at VGMix, and it really is the stuff of legends.
  8. This mix is awesome, full of energy. It has a little bit of breaks, euro, and hard house. Everything is loud and dirty, just the way I like electronic music. Synths get too loud in the higher pitches, but they are otherwise done well. The whole song actually reminds more of that carnival stage in Sonic 3, because of that second melody.
  9. Anyone have links to some good piano samples? I can only find two decent ones in my computer. Yeah, I know, it's embarrasing And how do you open .sfpack files and import them into FL Studio?
  10. This definitely will be added to my list of house music. I was sure of it from the moment I heard that bass kick. And the wah-wah added to the guitar is very good and authentic-sounding. The only thing that falls flat here is the piano. It sounded like it was recorded separately. The piano did sound better in part B, but otherwise it felt too dry. The voice samples weren't annoying at all; I'm used to hearing house mixes that pile on the vocals. This is some cool stuff Mr. Star has going here. I wish he had made a full-length version that's more 'mixable'.
  11. I got a jungle fever, and the only prescription is...MORE COWBELL I had trouble picking up the melody on the first go, but the end was recognizable. I then listened to it again and it made more sense. Pretzel's right. All the funky sessions in this track are appropriate for one of those synthesizer demo things...or perhaps a Bollywood film Keep up the great work, Prot!
  12. Protricity is just great with downtempo/chillout. And this remix probably surpasses his Brambles in the Breeze in terms of quality. All the instruments sound in clear as mud. The drum improvisation around 4:40 is worth noting.
  13. It's been a while since I heard this song. And I can't play Mario Paint anymore because the my SNES ac input shorted out or something The original was groovy enough, but this mix raised the notch. I don't really know what the complaints were about, but I enjoyed the basslines, drums, everything. Must be due to all that 90's hard house I've been listening to, because that's basically what the structure feels like. My biggest gripe is that you could've really built more onto the melody.
  14. How DO you set up automation effects? What I've been doing is hitting record to a pattern, then tweaking the knobs to various parameters to get the effects I want. But is there a way to undo this or clear my changes in case I mess up and want to re-record? I'm getting tired in re-opening my files.
  15. I'm looking for some DJ voice samples, like the kinds DJs commonly use for scratching. I once had the one where it says "Ahhhh, this stuff is really fresh" in a sinister voice but it's gone now.
