  1. I know this is way too late to bring it up, but check this out It's like he missed his destiny.
  2. The makers of FL aren't thinking of releasing FL Studio for the Mac soon, anyways. FL is written in Delphi so it's very difficult to do a cross-platform version.
  3. This description of part 3 is fitting- "It's like GarageBand, but with a mullet"
  4. I believe Shna creates some of the most complex arrangements in this site, if not THE most. Seriously, you can't predict what's around the next turn when you listen to one of his mixes. The sound textures are great for this piece, even though some are artificial-sounding. But it still have an improvisational feel to it.
  5. I'm colorblind, kid. Kudos for that reference. :D:D Popsicle ads FTW. I plan to finish up my song TODAY. Yes, it's finally over. I have some webspace issues, though, so I hope Kyle checks his PM box in time.
  6. I wish I could get access to the Logic and ProTools at my school. But it's in a weird audio class, and what makes it weird is that it's not in the official timetable Anyways, I use Athlon XP 2400 computer 512 mb ram (need to upgrade first) Technics RP-DJ700 headphones FL Studio 4 (Yes, FOUR) Ableton Live 4 A bunch of VSTi stuff to go with it I used to own a Korg Electribe EM-1
  7. I have no idea. I think it has something to do with Def Jam. Or something. I don't really know. But the sample actually says "YEEEAHH BOOYEEE!" If that helps. Kinda. -chth If anyone still cares, the sample came from Public Enemy - Bring the Noise. So yes, it was Flava Flav. Anyways, nice house mix of the Wingcap theme.
  8. Has anyone taken a look at Project Exile? It definitely looks to warm the hearts of SNES-era RPG fans. In fact, it's like Chrono Trigger, FF6 and Seiken Detsensu had a three-way and produced these graphics. And it's not even from a well-known studio. If the gameplay lives up to the hype it might be the next big thing for the DS. The announcement of the system is ambiguous, though. From the screenshots and trailer it appears to be a GBA game, but the website only mentions a DS version.
  9. Now that the project's finally drawing to a close...CDs? Will we (remixers) still get free CDs? I assume that's why you asked us for wav versions in addition to the mp3s. Can't wait to see what the packaging will look like.
  10. I second TwinTurbo's comments. This is so hot. Better make it past the judges. We need more Arabian Electro!
  11. Dunno if this will be moved to the WIP forum, but any ways, long list you have there Sephire. At least for my workload. I have other non-remixing stuff to do so my list isn't really long by any means. In Progress Tales of Symphonia - Sheena's Theme (for Summoning of Spirits) Chrono Trigger - Guardia Forest (collab with Doomsday) To Do A Tetris Attack remix- that is, if DJBren responds to my PM to join his project. To Be Judged Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - "Dracula's Servants"
  12. I have voice packs of famous reused rap phrases, and other stuff. As well as voice soundfonts. My weirdest soundfont ever is a James Brown () soundfont.
  13. Considering all the hubbub revolving around Video Games Live and the OCR judge meetup, it's expected to see a slowdown in the judging process, as well as the posting of new mixes. But usually, when the queue of incoming remixes shrinks down to about 4 or 5, you can expect the next update in the Judges Decisions thread to add a large new list of remixes to evaluate.
  14. Can't wait to listen to the lastest show when I get home. You guys certainly have come a long way in a year. To get Tommy on your show, as well as a segment on VG Live, I'd say this is the most successful out of the OCR spinoff projects we've had.
  15. Change it to JustChris. That'll be my new handle.
  16. Hey everyone, just wanted to say I'm still in the game and very close to finishing my song. Just need a couple closing bars on it. I hope it'll still be up to par to the project. As it's literally been almost a year in the making and some legacy things are still there from the start.
  17. Thank You Dee Jay = first reggaeton video game mix ever? I think so, and it's a winner.
  18. I knew someone was gonna mention the Rapman. Toy instruments can be fun to use as 'secret weapons' for your production. Someone told me he hooked up a Rapman (through audio out) to a Kaoss KP2 pad, and that it sounded sick.
  19. Here's a mix with a long history, based on the Inner Quarters from Aria of Sorrow. This remix was submitted a long while ago to VGMix, and even though it didn't receive many hits I was still happy to get this one done after so many revisions. An older version of this was submitted to OCR in late 2004 and got two rejections. This one is completely different, and so I consider it to be a new remix. It's pretty much done, but my biggest worry is that it's on the short side, like 2:30 in length. But I've seen arrangements that short being passed before, so this could still make the cut. I'd like to know if it's ready for the OCR front page before I go ahead and send it to the panel. http://www.2anime.com/stuff/Draculas_Servants.mp3 Source http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gba/CVAoS-InnerQuarters.mid
  20. You could scour the garage sale bins and find something nice like this lucky bastard here. Can anyone agree if it's okay to use DJing headphones for production and listening? There's probably a difference between DJ/monitoring heaphones and listening type headphones. Is it just the frequency range or is there something else I'm missing? I currently have Technics RP-DJ700.
  21. KYLE Yes, I'm still around and have the remix at hand. To answer your last post in the WIP forum, the remix is almost completely done, but it's at a 'plateau' where all I have to figure out is how to give it a proper ending Ever since the project started I have hardly posted in this thread, because most of my browsing for info on the project has been in your own forums. I have a somewhat updated version of the remix, just gotta make an mp3 out of it.
  22. Sequencers - FL Studio 4 (yeah, still on 4!) - Ableton Live 4 VSTs and extras (that I can't live without) - Iblit - ReeseMX - SFZ soundfont loader - E-MU Mo'Phatt Soundfont with 128 presets () And I used to have a new Korg Electribe EM-X before I sold it, but not before I recorded a few wicked drumloops with it.
  23. I will admit I like to borrow styles from various artists. Usually I start with the melody first. Sometimes it starts as an original project and think, this sounds better if I put this (game track) on it. Creating an alternative harmony is the trickiest part for me. It makes all the difference between making the whole remix sound flat or lively.
  24. I don't have any nostalgic memories of playing Bionic Commando, so I will just go with the music alone. The arrangement is real nice, and never lets up. The main melody on string reminds me of something I would hear in Link to the Past, and the beats are plain hot. Nice one, BGC.
  25. Here's one. Doing some dnb beats here. Edit: Damn, too quick for me, Myth.
