  1. I might jump in on this, and most likely will do a Symphonia track. By the way, if this project had started months ago, Urafaerie would've been all over it. His Soundclick account had many ToS remixes.
  2. (Edit) Done with the first draft. I still need to smooth out some of the letter edges (trying hard to make that font readable on the picture), but tell me what you think.
  3. I'm listening to the first show right now, and so far I like it. The reviews segment is very novel.
  4. More kickass sound coming from Tefnek. It's easily his best remix yet.
  5. Where's Space Cowboy? Usually he would be all over this kind of shit.
  6. Congrats Chthonic, on finally being an OCRemixer. I've been following this since its early WIP days and the tune stayed as sweet as ever. The sax has gotta be the best part. You did a great job with arranging your own stuff without separating it too far from the original, considering that the source music is already short.
  7. Welcome aboard, XelectromarioX. It's nice to have another DJ around. Here's an article I dug up that seems to fit this board well like a glove. Actually, it was ripped from another message board, but I altered it and pruned it to fit OCR better. ______________ This is for the well-being of all newbies that I post this article, though. First off, one key to fitting in on our forums is to lay low. People who come out of this newbie topic and post like crazy are often more noticeable. Noticeable = very good or very bad! If you make yourself too "known" in the beginning (where everyone knows you're a newb), you'll automatically be recognized as "King spamx0r n00b," and we don't want that, do we? I suggest "lurking." If you're unfamiliar with the term, it means basically just hanging out, reading stuff, absorbing. Which leads to my next point.... Before just "posting" on Overclocked Remix, you have to remember that we're a unique community of people. By that I mean, some of us are rude, sarcastic, and embittered. To understand why, you should (before posting about how kawaii SD Gundam is) read some of our posts and understand why we act the way we do. The next key to posting at Overclocked is to be reserved. When you post, either post in small amounts, or make the post worth reading and inciteful. Also, don't go directly for the 'inciteful' boards like UnMod. It's called UnMod for a reason. If you think nothing phazes you or moves you like The Blob, then by all means try it out. The MOST important rule on all of OCR is fitting in with our little group. By that I mean, you can't be one of these people: melodrama-queen, a crazy fanatic of anything (but videogames are the most tolerable subject), go out of your way to announce to the world that you're a Goth/Pagan/Wicca, a person whom is overly obsessed with discussing their sexual preference (UnMod exempt), teh king of spamx0r, or someone who has a complete lack of understanding as far as order goes. Also note that if you make a mistake in your "newb" days, you will most likely be ridiculed. To avoid that, don't do the following things: - make threads on things we already have threads on - reviving 6 month old topics about someone's pet hamster - Post in the wrong forum (there are exceptions) - Insult a staff member while on "newb" status - Post completely ludicrous remarks in most forums Remember, folks, being a newb at first is like being that guy from Full Metal Jacket who always got picked on, and we're pretty much that crazy Seargant. Hopefully, though, you won't blow your brains out with a rifle. At least, that wasn't our intention. If you can follow this guide, hopefully you won't have to. If you're ridiculed, be strong, and maybe you'll redeem yourself.
  8. Mind if I assist the sig-making duo by passing this request onto myself? I'm great with Photoshop, it's only that I haven't had time lately to doodle around with it.
  9. This remix is pure class. It's one of the few 'bling-bling' raps that I approve of. Can't wait to hear what you have in store next.
  10. I hated the original tune, but Adhesive Boy did a nice job making something great out of it. The cello is played very nicely. Then the first moment the beat comes...yeah. I definitely want to hear a rap with this. It's quite mellow and a bit ethereal. Great work here.
  11. Nice project you got going on, Claado. It must explain the recent lack of your activity in these forums, but now I must say I'm very surprised. Are the track times merely suggested? I'm too lazy to add them up, but they will probably fit 2 CDs. Plan on making covers/labels for them?
  12. Try going back to Photoshop 6. I pirated PS7 and it stopped loading after a few months, and therefore went back to the stable PS6.
  13. I'm trying to use MIDI input with FL Studio, and never done it before. Before I can start I still need to buy a cable but I'd like to know the steps beforehand. Now the manual for the Korg Electribe (the device I'll be using) explains how to connect with other MIDI devices but doesn't go into computer programs in general. Should I expect FL Studio to recognize almost any MIDI device? What can it do then? I'm hoping I can do something like dump my sequence patterns into a piano roll, and adapt it to different samples. All I'm doing right now is recording the music straight through line-in, and putting them as WAV loops in FL. I think it's time for some more flexibility.
  14. I'd think this would be a good addendum for the first page newbie guides because a few of them are trying to step up to the loud-mouthed people: - Don't try to argue with Nekofrog, you'll waste your time. He knows every cop-out insult in the book. Don't try to question his hipocrisy either. - Firedrake plays the skin flute to the tag every night. That's just his writing style.
  15. The vocals are OK, and the lyrics are better. It's pretty laid back, and almost sounds like another collaboration between Del and Gorillaz. But the beat's good enough to keep my head bopping till the end. I know it would be really hard for Star to top his last work, so I'm not surprised by this. Still, it's a good listen.
  16. This song is kind of simple with no suprises. And It sounds more like breaks than jungle to me; the drums don't sound hard enough to be jungle. The sound quality is on par, and this song is straight to the point. But it's not worthy enough to stay on my playlist.
  17. Good job, Spekio! This is a very good interpretation of the theme. I like the somewhat rough texture of the piano sound. The dramatic climbs, the sudden slowdowns, it sounds like I'm playing Chrono Trigger through one of those 'newfangled' stereopticons, and it's 5 cents per half hour! Oh crap, can Crono save Marle from the oncoming train?
  18. Yup, and unfortunately, adding .jpg or .gif won't work there. Better upload that image to Imageshack instead.
  19. Here's an awesome synth that's specially made for obscure FX sounds, called Invader by e-phonic. It goes beyond most VST synths I've seen. You know those old generic video game sound bites from the arcades? You can recreate them here. Mess around with the presets, they're full of interesting chirps and warbles.
  20. Yeah, this hello is way too late for me but what the hell. I'm CC Ricers (NOTHING to do with cars), OCR rocks, et cetera, etc. Actually, I've been coming to this site since late 2002/early 2003. I was just downloading remixes, that's all. I think my first one was some weird thing by DJ Seith. But I joined the forums in the beginning of last winter, put off posting here for a while, and came back in June.
  21. Looking for a shamisen sample, something that sounds dry, preferrably. It's hard to find good ones and the one previously posted in Miku's link isn't good enough. Perhaps someone that has Japanese music would be kind enough to rip a sample?
  22. Wow, this truly takes videogame fan music to a whole new level. I also gotta say how you did those vocals because they are CRAZY. It's nothing like what you did with Incredible Singing Robot.
  23. Some soundfonts just don't have sounds for some key ranges. There's no real way to 'fix' that unless you manually edit the soundfont.. it will probably sound bad if you do. Also, you can tell if your SF player is a demo if it says "demo" when you add it as a plugin. Your problem is a bit different from the usual SF player demo problem (the channels getting deleted) though.. Well, that is odd. And it doesn't say 'Demo' on the sounfont player. Well, as long as I don't use like 50 different instruments I shouldn't be totally screwed. Still irritating, though. BTW, the Squidfont Orchestral samples really sound good. No wonder it had to be 60mb. And for high pitches, maybe I can play some slower low notes, export it to wav and raise the speed, and slap it on my completed piece later. It sounds ghetto, but that's the only solution I can think of.
