  1. I just had a facepalm moment. I was finally ready to decide on coming, before I realized I confused "Pittsburgh" with "Philadelphia." When I saw how far Pittsburgh is, I went from "probable" to "out of the question". Sorry about that, guys.
  2. I'm determined now. I saw Harmony's video a while back and was disgustingly impressed with his playing, but I finally got around to checking out the details of this product, and it seems incredible and right up my production alley. I'm also thinking this is the best way right now to return a favor from Dave. I can't use any of the mentioned formats, either, but one thing about Soundfonts, FYI: provided the WAV names are reasonably detailed, and you have the latest Vienna software, you can use a freeware app like Renamer to quickly change the filenames to those recognized by Vienna, and then building a soundfont is as easy as loading all the relevant samples in one step. If/when I get this, I'll see about instructions for those who want to do the same.
  3. I'm down again, hoping I won't be swamped with other stuff when this starts.
  4. The time is right once again. I've had my own images for a long time already, starting with Doug's template and layering new effects and adding different color schemes when the mood struck me to change it up. It's the same layout that's been the basis for the "member" cards and the recent video project. I then intended to make new album art in the style of that video, as long as I had these new pics to work with, so this thread was the kick I needed.
  5. Assuming the above mentioned apps work in the same way as www.keepvid.com (input the vid's URL and get regular and HQ download links), you'll get conversions of the original uploaded video. In the case of the HQ, it'll be an .mp4 video with AAC stereo audio. I haven't checked out HD yet.
  6. Thanks right back. I'm drafting a lot of text right now following Dave's suggestions, and I'll have a revision and a lot more to say in a while.
  7. My video's been tweaked, using an orange logo, and the HQ uploads are apparently successful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JmYDD86h-0 Barring any other suggestions for the video, whenever Larry/Dave decide it's go time, I'm ready. The description and the one annotation should be enough of a template to work with. I'll talk about the embed code later. As for uploading, the "ocremix" channel is a no-brainer for it, but apart from giving me temporary access, how would it be handled?
  8. Extremely well for this project, apparently: tried it, loved it. For about 1700 songs, I'd estimate the batch job at less than 80 minutes; set it, forget it. But I won't start unless I get the go-ahead from the mucky-mucks. More insight: The original footage was created to run well over ten minutes. I can go back as often as I need to add more text, effects, etc. if needed, and render to whatever resolution. The final footage is in XviD. I open in VirtualDub, then leave it on "Direct Stream Copy." Each ReMix can be imported as-is, and is also set to "Direct Stream Copy." That's why the final file takes maybe 2-3 seconds.
  9. I can do HQ uploads, but the idea was to try for stereo without the overkill of HQ, but it only works for some; that's why I'm thinking it depends on users' playback settings (crapshoot, see?). Mono's fine for preview purposes, but since the HQ button does show up in embeds, I guess I'd better HQ it.
  10. All that transcoding on youtube is too much of a crapshoot for anyone to guarantee consistent quality. Thankfully, video quality is probably not at all near the top of the priority list for this venture, and neither is file size, because uploads can be done simultaneously. And if you have a video that just needs the audio replaced for every song, the rendering for each file can be done in seconds. One piece of footage is all that's needed: I already tested something with apparent success; all Larry and Dave would need is good ol' VirtualDub and the XviD codec. Another thing that would help - and I like this a lot about youtube - is the annotations, something that can be used in lieu of the description area, and can offer all kinds of info including artist, title, and so on without having to render that in the video itself, wasting more time. See below, and tell me if you get stereo playback. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU2aW2bXAZc
  11. That's among other things I wanted to bring up earlier about going the video route. I personally mind statics because ever since "Dragon Ball Z in a Nutshell" on Newgrounds, I feel it's a waste of my time to sit and watch something I could have easily listened to while doing other things. However, although they don't have to be large-scale productions, there are: a) ways to make the videos at least interesting enough to stare at without a great deal of effort; ways to fix the embed code to display a video of any size, or to make only the play button and seek function visible, and not have to worry about video in the first place. The only debate I can see is with audio: the quality is serviceable enough for use on each remix page, but I don't believe you get stereo playback without signing up.
  12. "Pittsburgh" and "weekend" make excellent magic words. I'll see about this one.
  13. Sorry I haven't been on yet; still busy with other things, and I have to drag my modem and router out to my living room for the time being to get online. What I wanna say is that the Fight Pad is a 200% improvement over the original wireless on my 360, for SFIV and HD Remix. I am, however, disappointed with the response on Streets of Rage 2, which Andy can tell you I never get tired of: unfortunately (and this is the case with both the SOR2 Live download and with the "Sonic Ultimate" version; maybe it's Backbone's emulation causing the problem?), although every move comes the way I want it, it comes a split second too late, and suddenly I'm no longer an expert. It's just not the same as playing it on my original Genesis, or even emulated on my PC with the "Saturn"-style pad I got from Playasia. Maybe I'll get used to it. Anyway, I'll try to be on soon.
  14. Double *salute* How quickly these b'days come 'round. Many happy returns.
  15. Everything but the Bachelor's and the residency (the residency requirement seems implied), and likely the available time. Good luck anyhow.
  16. Too long a wait, damnamdamitt, but my Fight Pad finally showed up, and SFIV looks beautiful on my 42-plas. Y'all hit me up, 'cause I'm showing up this weekend to get BOTH cheeks handed to me for HDR and IV (JoseBronxRican).
  17. The "Gaston" song was my joint, and Beauty and the Beast was by far my favorite of the "modern" films. I'd like for this new one to approach that level, and I agree it's more than about time. So far, cute clip, and we've got Musker, Clements, and Randy Newman. I'm hyped.
  18. That was my plan several meetups ago, during Shariq's thread; it's on OCR's "to-do's."
  19. I've been meaning to ask - since my only experience is with a Creative Zen - just what systems these different players use to sort and playlist tracks. It's important for me to know before I move on with tagging my own stuff, which WILL happen no matter what, because every brand plays with the tags their own way. For example, album art size must be 200x200 before Zen recognizes it. Also, Zen doesn't sort by "year," although I'm sure others do. On that note, here's my suggestion: fix the songs with missing "year" tags. I'm not sure if the year given is necessarily the year the song was posted, but it makes sense to do that.
  20. CONTINUED... http://bronxrican.com/misc/0901-0104-magfest7-068.jpg SF4 at MAG! Tatsunoko too! http://bronxrican.com/misc/0901-0104-magfest7-071.jpg Kirkhope. Gracious folks even after Q&A. 21. Starting again. Everything worked beautifully right until after I posted and fell asleep. I have to test things as a guest once in a while. http://bronxrican.com/misc/0901-0104-magfest7-051.jpg Howard Drossin.
