  1. You haven't heard zyko and Mythril Nazgul yet? GO. DO IT. The song was called "Trapped in the Mines" when it was subbed to DoD. The final title is "Trapped in the Minds."
  2. I was at work; cut me a break. So, I've built quite a reputation for ruining music. Now that HD Remix is a complete disaster, I'm ready to do the same for Dave Wise. I've helped to create a real work of art by programming the bassline, the drums, and the percussion, as well as writing nearly the entire chorus. We meant for it to be an instrumental where people can imagine their own lead vocal performance, but then I had to go and rap.
  3. How about going avant-garde on song selection, i.e. something NOT from the usual SuperMarioFinalChronoZeldeyKongMetroidvania? I'm trying for that as soon as possible. Anyway, my definition of avant-garde in this community has always been "Shnabubula."
  4. Might've been, except that Dave was given this logo about one day before the anniversary. The design was really intended for use in future trailers within the next year, but I figured they might have other uses for it.
  5. The only thing holding me back is lack of a cam; otherwise, I'd've have a lot of you helping me out a year and a half ago. I have a couple of video concepts I intend to get off the ground eventually.
  6. I'm with Dave. First time I heard "Lava Reef" in - was it '94? - it became a fast favorite because it sounded just like many - and there are MANY - of your typical Latin Freestyle joints, only without the typical tone-deaf Latin Freestyle singer. Exposé is in my library for being one of few exceptions in the genre. I'd believe that genre influenced "Reef" more than the one tune.
  7. Forgot to say I'm finally regged and I'm coming. Squeeze me in, alexis?
  8. Stand by while I find time later tonight to register....
  9. PREFACE: I'm likely late with this as everyone seems reconciled, but I did all this typing, and I'll be damned if I let it go to waste. I'm pretty certain this discussion has gone on everywhere else to the same degree. Some folks don't realize that although the so-called "music industry" has been around for quite a long time, GREED itself has been around since the very beginning of human anything. And it's so easy to blame labels and everyone else who is NOT the artist we like, but greed is what brings us where we are now, NOT ONLY label greed, but ARTIST greed and even CONSUMER greed. Yeah, I said it... all the piracy proves it. It's also easy to say we should have a new system for getting music out that helps "good" artists more, naively thinking greedy fools won't game that system to death too, and bring us back to square one. For every person that tries to come up honest, six others already cheated their way ahead of you. Life ain't fair; I learned that at age six. The industry is actually much better in certain ways at present: remember the old days when Black artists couldn't google the word "residuals"? There just aren't enough of us out there with the kind of good will needed to change things. We all sit around sometimes going, "why the hell do people like this crap?", forgetting we are sitting VERY deep into a minority opinion. A lot of us see a problem with what we hear on the radio; a hell of a lot more see no problem whatsoever. That's why it's called "popular" music. I have more than my share of guilty pleasures in my Zen player. We are well within our right to argue our opinion over who deserves what, but most labels have the know-how and the resources to get people out there, and the more successful artists they collect through their techniques, the more know-how and resources they gather. They're huge companies for a reason; they deserve a little something. I like to think some of us wish sgx luck with his label, and the same goes for DCT's Urbanizm, and that they come up big in much the same way. That's the moral here: we do what we can to help who we like, and, as the saying goes, "let the babies have their bottles." BTW, the reason dead artists make money is because their music ISN'T dead... and neither are their families or their estates.
  10. Have another look; the "HD" icon has popped up now.
  11. This one. I wasn't even aware of BotA until Red Tailed Fox contacted me on a late recruitment drive. And I still owe Larry a WIP.
  12. Marry me. In all seriousness, I'm still playing it. Some of you here have seen me on it, and will probably see it again at MAGfest. 45 minute game, Max, one credit, one man, finished, score turned over, 9 men remaining.
  13. He really, actually did rap, and it's hot shit. Choruses kinda stink, though.
  14. I'm at work right now (shh!), at a PC all day, which affords me time to finally catch up on OC ReMix listening, and I'm up to this one. I'm with the crowd on the synth work: impressive. About the ending... I'm gonna take a stab at the possible inspiration, because it's awesome if true. Anyone remember the tune from Vince DiClola's "Transformers: the Movie" score?
  15. I forgot that I meant to record a bumper for the show while I was out there. Well, later this week then.
  16. I'm home now; the meet is officially over. I should've used my cam, too, but I left it to the veterans this time. Awesome time, as always. Props to all the Meetup Virgins who hopefully enjoyed their first time!
  17. Year? I've been ready to announce my project since late 2006. I am dead serious. There'll always be musicians for these things, but maybe not enough of 'em with the free time, or enough to give high-quality product, or that are even familiar enough with the music to give the project some "labor-of-love" quality. What I'm saying is "be ready", especially because the scope of this one is already looking ridiculous. That's been my only real issue with album projects: we all wanna hit the ground running with 40-, 50-, EIGHTY-track extravaganzas that only a zircon or OA with their connections and resources could pull off, and even then, it's a long, difficult, possibly painful process (right, Kyle?). We couldn't get all the tracks we wanted done for BotA; we may be lucky things worked out pretty well there. It's why I'm doing mine in four parts. The Sonic 1 thing right now is a breath of fresh air. Jade is married to one of the biggest connections you can think of; already a huge advantage. I have confidence in this venture, so good luck, and BTW, everyone: I'm still looking for my opening, so could you please help a brother out? Bounding and gagging Wes is a good start.
  18. I'm interested; just dunno when I can contribute yet. I do know Phila is a great relief, as opposed to Balt or DC. I'm a virtual definite.
  19. My drums were Frankenstein'd from many individual samples, then the resulting loop was chopped to bits. But it is my loop, Ty. For five days' work, I'm glad I got off okay. It's more good Sauce content, at least. I'm thinking the tune could benefit from a live guitar if I were to submit this here.
  20. Something I noticed while uploading this one to youtube: Someone complained in the review thread about using "what you gon' do" twice in a row, and I said to myself, "AE didn't do that!" Then I checked the lyrics tab, and it's right there, too. I'm extremely certain it goes, "what you gon' do", then "what you goin' through". Fair to assume AE either overlooked or didn't verify? LT: Fixed.
