  1. "May turn out to be," but I'm not the bottleneck yet. I'm waiting on certain stuff from other peeps - no, you don't get specifics - before I can move further at my end.
  2. Axel doesn't have a theme, but then neither do some of these other heroes. I'm assuming he's being associated with "Fighting in the Street", because that's all anyone ever wants to do.
  3. Sonic 3D Blast [Flickie's Island] and Sonic R years ago; a few other licensed titles.
  4. Props to you. I always found it one of the most interesting logos, if not the most legible. And go figure: I didn't know Roger Dean designed it. Here's another difficult logo, but I always liked the artwork:
  5. Muuuch more to promotion of an album than a front page spotlight; that's not even mentioning that it rotates between five spotlights anyway. More like "sharing" than "pushed out of." Xeno also had a trailer, and if you really want an indication of a more imminent release, the trailer for this one is in the works now. I may turn out to be a bigger bottleneck than Dave or Jake.
  6. I'd agree in theory, but we've seen the bitching happen during development of SF HD Remix, albeit in hyper-sensitive fashion. Smaller sprites would be much more forgiving, but when every tiny detail is apparent in an HD sprite, even if you're off by a 10th of an inch when animated, people would notice. I can imagine a lot more effort to get it right, from the get-go. Granted, in the case of SFHDR, they had to match up with the old sprites and hitboxes; in a new game with new animation (such as BlazBlue), there'd be less pressure.
  7. New thing or not, whether it's the right thing is still to be determined.
  8. Sonic picked a heck of a time to start failing, just when the Internets blew up, read as "equal weight given to even the most ignorant, uneducated crackpot opinions." The backlash was slow and steady, and I saw it all building up ever since SA2 was released and Greg Sewart of EGM thought he could get away with a tiny blurb at the bottom of one page calling the original Sonic series "overrated." People became instant experts on game design and kept crying to "bring back 2D" or "give us roots" or something, and eventually people got tired of bashing the new stuff and inevitably started shitting on the classics. Sonic never deserved that. Games that everyone thought were terrible THEN are getting more respect NOW. So if this new title is "giving the fans exactly what they wanted," who's to blame if it fails? Not the fans, if they can help it; that's a guarantee. "Sonic 4" might suck to us when it's released, but if it was called a "fangame" the self-important Sonic pundits will almost certainly love it to death and start yelling, "see, Sega, THIS is how you do it."
  9. I almost forgot to give props to LuizA for mentioning "Wonder Dog", because that was my joint, too! Moon Mines track was my favorite.
  10. Two different projects, two different visions, two different release dates. I'm not seeing any problem here, except of course for what I call the "video game music mainstream" mentality that has all of us begging each other to do the same damn tunes all the time every time. That's why the overlap discussion in the first place. God willing, if I get a track done for BadAss, it'll cover a tune no one cares about ("Phantom" from TFIV), so no worries there. We'll get more carping about the overlap from 50 million FF/Chrono OC ReMixes before this.
  11. Just started; MST3K reference already. Nice. Speaking of can of worms, anyone else think "Salma Hayek?"
  12. Agreed on FM, but we're forgetting the PCM sample channel. VOPM won't help those too lazy to sample off .gym or .vgm playback.
  13. What you think I meant by "zirkie"? Short for "zirkietricks".
  14. My arm's been twisted long enough. I'm in. Already preregged and will try for time off from work. Nice to see zirkie back on the panel!
  15. One thing I love about this project right now is that with all the ready visuals the trailer will be extremely easy to create and awesome to look at. Good luck folks.
  16. Well, if it's alright now to pick against Ganon, then I'm built for Cuban Link.
  17. "Event deadline" being March 7th? If so, I'll really try to find time to do something.
  18. The one thing that was formally posted goes along the lines of "nobody claim NUTTIN yet!" They're just looking for battle suggestions. And since this is the Bad Dudes' baby, I'm guessing they'll get to claim as and after the battles and rules are determined. I'm not guaranteed anything, either. (EDIT: Mustin's Internet beat me to it.)
  19. It's just what I had in mind for the rap: hero against villain from the same title, but not necessarily in character (I never like to make explicit connections to the game or its characters when I write anyway). On that note... Bless you, zyk, because I really do not know jack about Earthbound/Mother (or any RPG except for Phantasy Star II), and I'm not yet willing to put in the research. I can do the Link thing.
  20. I laughed at the DKC suggestion. Donkey Kong used to be a villain. Way-back suggestion: Altered Beast - wiki tells me the antagonists are "Centurion" and "Demon God Neff". I also suggest Fatal Fury - either 1 with Terry and Geese or 2 with Terry and Krauser, although Krauser uses a classical piece from Mozart, so I dunno about that. Naturally, I also want in, but I'm still too much into other stuff to guarantee to commit. However, if a little hip-hop is allowed here, I think a rap battle would be completely appropriate (I can hear the "ohgodnoes" already), and I can at least give you verses.
  21. QFT, and that's why I gave up on discussing Sonic a very long time ago. These threads are ALL THE SAME. He will never get a break ever again, even if they get EVERYTHING right, because when us self-proclaimed design experts reach the point where we refer to the all-time classics as "Hold Right: the Game", it's all over. We don't want a great Sonic game, because it's much more fun bashing the franchise without one. For heaven's sake, prove me wrong.
  22. Way ahead of you, and got 'er done today. Hell of a lot of good stuff in there.
