  1. Almost forgot: I also got to see some of my own video work (in this case, assets for the Balance & Ruin trailer) up on the big screen in a large public venue. Not gonna lie, I told Tommy that as a video guy, I watched thinking, "yeah, I could do some things here."
  2. Present! I forgot to keep an eye out for a show in my backyard, so big thanks to Jill for getting me out there, along with members of the Aversa clan. The use of Mike's binoculars was appreciated. It got late, so I could only talk to Tommy, Laura and the Aversas a bit before the meet-and-greet. I had a look around, but didn't see anyone familiar. Tremendous crowd, though. Some cosplayed. Tommy encouraged cheering, but during the second half, the lady directly behind my ears (I'm gonna call her "Whooo-Girl") forced me to apply noise-canceling headphones. Finally got to see the Sonic medley performed! The crowd gave love for early games that showed up on-screen, but once I knew the video was going to feature titles all the way up to the present, I had fun predicting how dead the crowd would get once '06 and Black Knight showed up. How come I never heard of Viking Jesus 'til now? What else to say about the vocalists? You know 'em, you love 'em. Jill is exquisite, Laura is prolific. Many outfits, and of course Flute Link appeared. Seriously, Laura Intravia is the truth; she did it all on stage. Thanks to her, we also got a song from Ico! The show is in good hands with our community's best performing AND arranging.
  3. I was back at the suite wondering who should get smacked for that pun. Also, Dave and Tuesday got nice on each other at 3rd Strike back at our room before Dave headed home. They had to get that out of their systems, but those were intense matches.
  4. Almost forgot... 1. Q*bert 2. Ristar 3. Jill "Sandwich" Valentine
  5. I had a hell of an idea for a track germinating since last X, and I'm dying to git 'er done. Wish I can guarantee, but my recent studio overhaul means there's a good chance. Stay tuned.
  6. It's been a day, so did anyone discover my little Easter Egg?
  7. For the sake of arrangements, that might not be be valid; the music is licensed.
  8. I'm with DusK; Shinobi III, as a game and a soundtrack, is now getting more appreciation from me than Revenge of Shinobi did, and that was the all-time classic that YUZO worked on. How amazing is III's use of leitmotif with such complex melodies? Altered Beast and Golden Axe have long passed their gameplay expiration dates, but the music is still steady solid. Treasure and Technosoft were virtually second-party devs on Genesis/Mega Drive, so you might be able to get away with those titles.
  9. I do think the console wars play a part. Another part of it is a glut of titles where sound designers didn't put in the work required to make a 2612 synth sing beautifully, and let's face it, it did take a lot of work. I don't think it's a coincidence the few really good Genesis soundtracks using the GEMS tools came from Tommy Tallarico. Interesting thing is, laziness abounded in the music of both consoles, but I'm sure folks would prefer too many tunes sounding like "Roland Sound Canvas MIDI" than too many tunes offering so-called "ear rape". Anyway, my pick is easy: Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which by chance I enjoyed again this morning. I said it before: folks complained it didn't 'fit' at all, but the whole game is a lark, a big fat fighting carnival. It's completely appropriate.
  10. Thanks. Saw that earlier, and at a good time, as I'm not thoroughly overwhelmed at the moment. I hope to get at all you guys soon with plans.

  11. Be back soon; my apologies, but I figured a lot of things would slow me down tremendously. This week I'm forcing myself to continue to develop this project with Dyne, and I'll get back to interested musicians soon enough. Be assured, whatever delays turn up, I'm seeing this through to completion.
  12. Begging your pardon then. We definitely did include the original arcade Turtles during our reconciliation process; you should see the documents! That track is the reason Miki Higashino was included in composers.
  13. To clarify: not saying that this game/mod might be in mono, just that it might be a consideration that someone's normal gaming environment might have that effect on the sound they're hearing. I assume major recording studios still have to engineer music to sound wonderful on everything from the largest theaters to the smallest, cheapest single-speaker iPod rigs. Everything can still be in stereo, but have much less separation depending where you're sitting, how the sound is being directed to your ears, etc.
  14. You'd be surprised how much is out there that gets lost once the mix is in mono. That may well turn out to be the case here. The issue is present in many of our own ReMixes; I noticed once while working on the BadAss trailer; we also accidentally posted the Maverick Rising trailer in mono, and it turned up there. My tinnitus compels me to constantly judge my mix in mono sound to make sure everything works. Even in this day and age, there will be setups that won't be friendly to music that was created without enough consideration to a full mono mixdown. Some of the sounds I worked with (especially pianos) get lost almost completely, so the tools available in FL to deal exactly with this problem are valuable to me. Come to think of it, I wonder now if this happens with HD Remix.
  15. It's represented only by virtue of having its music reprogrammed for use in the 16-bit titles. Same music, yes, but the platforms for the original source tunes arranged for the album were SNES and Genesis only.
  16. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/397981048/pixel-noir-pc-mac-ios-android-ps4-vita "Pixel Noir", the first title from indie startup SWDTech Games. An effort to return to classic JRPG gameplay and 16-bit aesthetics, with modern enhancements, as well as offering a mature storytelling experience styled on 'film-noir', 'hard-boiled detective' tales. The OC ReMix connection: Kunal (ktriton) Majmudar is the founder and main creative force, and will do all the music; Luke (A_Rival) Esquivel is main programmer; I myself am with the marketing team, having provided a teaser trailer, animated logo and a 'motion comic', based on Maximo Lorenzo's work, that will likely be presented as one of many cutscenes throughout the game. Please give us your consideration.
  17. Special shout to XPRTNovice, who along with Deia and Jarel and myself provided additional arrangement help, but was unavailable for our initial video salvo. We got him next time!
  18. Well, you know. But to be specific, you can use my place of work. Simply search "Jacobi Medical Center" and slap my artist name there.
  19. Book's not even out yet, whoa. Pessimistic so far, because the narrative amazon's pushing of an "industry punchline" that became a success solely on the triumphs of its marketing is a bit distasteful. Also, after the book and film are out, I'll be forced to give up wishing people would put away their current trifling attitudes over something that ended 20 years ago.
  20. Still here, but of course real life is kickin' my ass again. However, after some talks at MAGFest, I decided to compile these original soundtracks to the best of my ability, then make another big recruitment push; I have some good names in mind. Some tracks are near-impossible to compile, and that was the main holdup. Hope to be active soon. Big ups to Argle, by the way, for an extremely promising first WIP in a short amount of time. No rush for the rest of you guys so far; we'll see what happens in about a month.
  21. If I revised our album dev guidelines correctly, I'm available for discussing ideas anytime if a project director likes to commission their own trailers. I know Brandon has a lot to move forward on, so you can PM me if you have ideas or plans there, especially for the FF stuff. I'll dig up his older notes.

  22. Someone at one of the MAG elevators gave me that same comparison, one of several I've received over the years, so he's got some catching up to do.
