Small Soldiers was fucking amazing, what are you talking about? It has toys trying to kill humans with mobile nail guns and flame throwers... How can you call that the worst of anything?
-
I'd say these are some pretty good recommendations based on what my friends have been enjoying -- especially LittleBigPlanet. Also, Drake's fortune is supposed to be pretty amazing. The sequel looks like it's coming along well too.

I loved the Dark Knight, but I would like to know why you didn't enjoy the Dark Knight if there are any specific reasons? The only reasons I could see for disliking it was: A. Batman speaking was... well... completely ridiculous -- I couldn't stop laughing. But that's a good thing as well as bad. B. The very end was kind of pretentious and dumb. HEY GUYS, BATMAN IS ACTUALLY A VILLAIN... EVEN THOUGH HE ISN'T. You can maybe call someone like the Punisher a villain, but calling Batman a villain is like calling The Joker a hero. But I don't think either of those things lessened my view of the movie very much. The box office is bullshit. Look how well Quantum of Solace did.

I ended up getting an Xbox 360 over a PS3 if that says anything. Honestly though, the PS3 doesn't have that many great exclusive titles at all -- mostly a few epic sequels. The second I heard FF 13 was coming out for Xbox 360 though, I had to get a 360. That said I might regret not being able to play Versus 13. Right now, neither console is too exciting RPG-wise (Come to think of it, the PSP is probably a better system than both RPG-wise.) I'll wait for the PS4 to play the few exclusive PS3 games I miss this generation. Of course, you never know, Sony could step it up a notch come 2009, but I believe this was the year a comeback was forecast, and, well, not too much happened.

OK, the community at large revokes your right to publicly judge movies. You can love the first, and maybe even like the second Matrix, but The Matrix Revolutions was an abomination, and nobody with taste can deny that

They were pretty great. So, not all Sci-fi original movies suck -- almost all of them do
-
I guess you guys never saw the "Cube" movies.
-
I'd consider buying it for $5. Edit: Heh, looks like Linkjing beat me to it.

I just saw The Spirit. It was pretty bad, but some parts, especially the beginning, were pretty amusing. I'd say it was a mediocre movie though, but it definitely wasn't a worst movie. The worst movie I saw in recent memory was There Will be Blood. No need to explain, but I honestly don't understand what people got from this movie, or if they simply liked it because it seemed artsy. I don't think I've ever watched a movie so long with so little substance. Oh yeah, and the Miami Vice movie was pretty terrible as well. I actually walked out of the theater after giving it a chance, and I've never done that before. Seemed like the editor, if there was one, just left everything they shot in the film. Of course those are only from recent memory. Luckily the worst of movies I've seen have likely been relegated to forgotten memories.

Lufia I & II: The World Will Know (symphonic rock)
Atomicfog replied to Nekofrog's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Still loving it so far. I have to say though, I tried speeding it up 10%, and it sounds twice as good like that. Might want to try it out, 5% speed increase sounds good too. -
Oh come on. Everyone knows both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are great movies in disguise as bad movies.

Recommendations for Anime from 1985-1992?
Atomicfog replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
My problem with Gurren Lagann is that it was like the Loony Tunes of anime. It was fun for awhile, but I stopped at the fifth or sixth episode because I couldn't suspend my disbelief any longer, and that's saying a lot for me. Maybe it was supposed to be like that, but it seemed just serious enough to take itself seriously. -
Slipping grenades into the pockets of merchant guards in Fallout 3, and then having them dance around and explode whilst I sneak past them and steal all kinds of expensive device blueprints.

Recommendations for Anime from 1985-1992?
Atomicfog replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
I second this. Also, not exactly obscure or anything, but Yu Yu Hakusho might be worth adding to your list. -
Ha ha ha. This coming from the kid that asserts subjective statements as if they're facts that everyone must agree with.
-
Wow, I'm sorry I took the time to post. I thought you were at least semi-rational, maybe young or misinformed, but apparently it's beyond that as you can't even grasp the basic concept of subjectivism. You wouldn't happen to have Asperger's would you?

Heh heh, looks like the Blizzard logo is a Protoss unit.

Lol, are you serious? Did you even read what I said? I said "graphics and story can contribute to a game just as much as gameplay. They're all parts to a whole..." I never said that a game lacking those things would be considered "sub par", though if someone released a game with NES graphics and no story, it'd better have some extremely innovative gameplay for me not to consider it sub par. I grew up playing the NES, but it's not often I find anything more than amusement from those games these days, regardless of innovation. Also, just so you know, what makes a game good is completely subjective, so you're quite naive if you think everyone thinks the definition of "innovative gameplay" is the same. Not everyone even thinks gameplay is the defining factor of every game. My favorite video game series is the Final Fantasy series, but after playing through almost all of them, some of the older ones have what was once considered to be innovative gameplay, but now a lot of it feels like boring and repetitive stat building to me. However, the games still hold up extremely well today because of their amazing stories, incredible sound tracks, complex emotions... etc These things even offset the once innovative, but now archaic feeling gameplay enough to the point where I might play them again in time. When I was younger I used to value gameplay more, but these days I generally don't even want to be playing a game unless it has gameplay and depth in other areas. You can have all the innovative gameplay you want, but without other things like story, visual style, good music, or well-implemented multiplayer, a game ends up feeling more like a brief period of amusement than something with substance. Or at least that's how I see things, and as I said, it's completely subjective. P.S. If I had TF classic I'd be glad to check it out (I was too addictied to Quake 3 back when TF first came out.) Maybe I'll get a torrent of it and play if you can convince some other people to play without bashing the well-liked and all around enjoyable sequel.
-
You know what? That is crap. Disregarding your completely subjective argument; graphics and story can contribute to a game just as much as gameplay. They're all parts to a whole, which is why any decent game critic looks at all of those criteria and more before concluding how good a game is.

Heh heh, it's interesting to see Gen disc's change in views regarding the PSP. I'd say the reasons listed in this thread accurately outline why the PSP is worth every cent if you harness its capabilities. If you don't plan on utilizing emulation its value is a little more debatable, but there is a decent selection of truly great games. Based on what I've played, I highly recommend/second Valkyrie Profile, both Syphon Filter games (highly polished as mentioned), Wipeout, and Jeanne d' Arc (still playing it).

I may try out, and if I do I will commit. How are these voices going to implemented into the game though, or are they? A mod for the PC version, or a rom hack? Edit: Nm, just read the original thread. Sounds like a good idea, though you might want to add those details to this thread somewhere.

Good stuff man, thanks for posting it. Tell you friend to keep it up. Yeah, I have to agree that they aren't very obscure, but they are worth listening too. Also, links to particular songs are always nice. Also, if something isn't completely obscure that's OK, but it'd be good if most of us haven't heard it.
-
I figured I'd make a thread about very obscure music, so that we can all hear some. I'm talking about the kind of music that there is good chance that you would likely never hear or have heard if you were somebody else. Oh yeah, and you should consider it be worth hearing as well, and, preferably, provide a link and/or description. Anyhow, I'll start things off with some obscure music from the also obscure movie, "Killer Klowns from Outer Space." This track is pretty good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WS-Nr1RGLAU&feature=related But I really wish there were more to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJMXTL4zuYQ

Just went outdoot climbing on granite yesterday, and it was pretty intense. I have a climbing gym near me and I got into it a few months ago, and it is awesome exercise (and its fun as hell). Definitely a great compliment to regular exercises. If there is anything that'll get you in shape it's pulling yourself up the side of walls.

Warcraft 2 'Human Battle 1' - v2 (Oct 9)
Atomicfog replied to Dafydd's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Really great mix -- brings back the good ol' days. Only good Warcraft mix I've ever heard.
