  1. You know it! Katamari on the Rocks - Masayuki Tanaka
  2. Birabuto Kingdom from Super Mario Land. God, I wish this track would make its way into more mario games.
  3. No matter what the logical side of my brain tells me, I still refuse to dispute the logic of the PD storyline. And I suppose the less I think about it, the better. Phantasmagoria isn't as scary as it used to be. I remember the baby picture scaring me out of the room when I was younger, but now, I just laugh. Oh god, I used to love me some terrible games. Gex 64 and Gex 3 (Oh my god, I'm a wisecrackin' gecko! HOW COOL IS THAT!), Mario Is Missing! (A Mario game? Where you play as LUIGI? COUNT ME IN!), Glover (I'm a cute li'l glove with a face)... I used to beg my dad to let me rent Mario is Missing when I was 5. I was so elated when I made my way through San Francisco and restored all the landmarks... and then Luigi took a bus to Alcatraz. I think that began my questioning of the game. My dad also got Mario's Time Machine deluxe in some software package. We installed it on the family computer and for years I would smash at the keyboard trying to make mario jump. Since the software package had no instructions, I never, ever figured out how to jump. No matter how many different keys I'd smash NOTHING worked. Some day I'll unearth that damn CD and finally jump on a koopa. "The koopa is carrying an artifact. You can get it back by jumping on him." Someday, disembodied voice. Someday.
  4. Earthbound and the whole Mother series made me step back and appreciate life. It just did something to me, and I can honestly say that these games have final bosses that I feel sorry for. The games just "did" it for me. They could be funny, amazing, and sad, just like life. In the games you're just an average guy who has to do something wonderful. The games were so well-written and could go from making you laugh to tearing out your heart and stomping it to a pulp. Mother 3, I'm looking at you. >: Oh, and Max Payne makes me like to run entire film-noir monologues in my head as I go about my daily life.
  5. Thrill Kill. It's not amazing, but it's not bad either. The finishing moves make Mortal Kombat look like a tea party. The soundtrack by Contagion is absolutely amazing. It's good for when you just want to beat the shit out of something. Gex 64. Maybe this is just my old self talking, but I had a lot of fun with this game, even though it was a giant collectathon. When I was younger I had this thing for geckoes and being able to play as one was the pinnacle of coolness.
  6. This sounds like such a cool project. I'll give Silent Ascent a shot when I have some time.
  7. A++++ WOULD DOWNLOAD AGAIN Really though, it is laziness and probably due to the fact that people will really praise something that hits a real note with them... pardon that music pun.
  8. Is sharing MP3s you made of say, the GSF/spc/omgwtfbbq kosher?
  9. Oh man, this is how I fixed my friend's NES. First, there was a spider and its little nest of eggs smooshed inside the machine itself. Even after I cleaned it out it still didn't work. Bending all those pins back was frustrating but it really does work. A little nerve-wracking, though. My NES is 23 years old and still going strong. For a period of years, Super Mario Bros 3 would freeze at the ending for me but after I gave my NES a good cleaning with compressed air and rubbing alcohol, it worked like a dream.
  10. Oh my god that's beautiful ;__;. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn has the voice of an angel. Oh! I forgot - the "Pray" music from Earthbound. All the Mr. Saturns of the world felt a strange, new feeling and prayed sincerely for the fate of Ness and his friends.
  11. I had to laugh because it was so over-the-top. I saw it coming a mile away. Something I just remembered - the max payne 2 theme. Once when I beat it, and once last sunday when my ovarian cyst ruptured just as the song goes into its final swell. If that wasn't perfect timing, I don't know what is.
  12. What does being a Christian have to do with being affected by music? And why wait for someone to ask you to post something?
  13. Definitely "The Best is Yet to Come" from MGS. Smiles & Tears from EB is another one. Come to think of it, a lot of songs from Earthbound and Mother are super good. Here's sort of a list. -"Mother Earth", the opening to Mother. -"Eight Melodies", a song very important to Mother. -The credits to A Link to the Past. -The credits to Yoshi's Island. -"Theme of Laura" from Silent Hill 2. -"Room of Angel" from Silent Hill 4 -The Mother 3 Love song. It's so beautiful. -"Because I Love You" from Earthbound. Some non videogame songs. -"I Will Wait for You" - I remember this song from long before Futurama used it to tear out our hearts. My grandma used to sing this to her beloved Westie. He died in 2002. I saw Jurassic Bark in 2005. I fucking CRIED. -"Street Spirit (Fade Out)" by Radiohead -"Drinking Song" by Rob Dougan
  14. I love this song - captures the essence of the Chicago level very well. I first found this on the PD: Source website and couldn't help but wonder if it was the same Krispy. Very well done!
  15. No, YOU'RE a joke. not enough explosions for you? I got my start on my mom and dad's NES which is 5 years older than I am when I was but 2 years old. I moved on up to a SNES, a couple Gameboys, N64, Dreamcast, GBA, Gamecube, PS2, DS, Atari 2600, Action Max, Genesis (two, actually. New one and old one), Xbox 360, Commodore 64, Atari 5200... and I think that's it. My parents made me choose between the SNES and Genesis back in the day and naturally I took the SNES. I wanted to keep all my old systems even when my friends told me to sell them (this is around 96-97) because they were useless and obsolete... I sure showed them. My parents had the Action Max and all three of its "games" are somewhere in the house. I bought my Genesis for $5 in 2005. The atari 2600 was at my grandparents' house and no one knew where it came from. Nothing beats a free atari! My uncle gave me his Atari 5200 and old-model genesis earlier this year. My best find had to be Earthbound on Ebay for $7 in 2003. It only came with the guide (no box) but I'm quite pleased. I didn't know it was really expensive until more recently.
  16. I'm of the lady persuasion and I have been speaking french since I was five. I also sing. Let me know if you need me! I'll PM you, too.
