  1. I find it amazing that almost all the most noteworthy records including a lot of world records are being broken this year. Swimming events had almost all their world records broken, the former female weightlifting record was ABSOLUTELY SHATTERED, the running 100m and 200m, the pole vaulting record and even a few odd scoring records. China coming out is nice, even if they only have semi-come out because their totalitarianism will probably stay for good. But it seems like the rest of the world's athletes are coming out too. And breaking records almost everywhere.
  2. I think a touch screen would ruin the PSP as it is now. They should shore up their own customers and it's actually doing pretty well saleswise (just because it's behind the DS by a large margin doesn't mean it's not selling millions). Also, the screen glare has been a major problem as far as handhelds go for me, so it's definitely not a non-issue. It's great to hold on to buying a PSP for all this time. When I finally get it, they'll have the free memory stick duos, free games, the best PSP version possible, etc. I just hope it's still possible to put ROMs on it.
  3. The cartoon made by the Power Puff Girls creator was way better. WAY better. Also, why are they so stuck on that one episode of the movies? Too much Clone Wars material... How about something in the latter episodes? Or are they too worried about the retroactive continuity since there most probably will be a new trilogy eventually?
  4. I still wouldn't say it's exactly easy. Maybe moderately difficult for good gamers? It's at least a step above in difficulty compared to most Mario games (except for a few really tricky levels in SMB3, SMW and SMW2).
  5. I think the best way to get those achievements is to go to some GameFAQs thread about it and do what's called a 'boosting', essentially fighting friendly matches just to get achievements. Cheap, but you sort of need to do that. Also, player matches are definitely way more friendly and almost cordial compared to the cutthroat ranked games. For some inexplicable reason, I surpassed 1000 games on ranked. I guess I just am attracted to hostilities. I do have a winning record at least.
  6. Looks like the one griping the most here is you. So people will complain because they got gipped. Live with it. People will complain about unfair decisions. *GASP*. BTW, the scoring system changing every Olympics is pretty comical though. Last time it was the Korean/Hamm controversy (The IOC basically said that Korean guy basically won but didn't redistribute medals or give multiple medals). What was so bad about giving multiple goals depending on good performances? I think the 'must win' aspect of this year's Olympics is ridiculous. Especially when the specific scoring got it wrong almost every time. Also their Soviet-era style way of borderline illegally fencing kids into sporting boarding schools when they're really young and have no life to look forward to than with sports. Americans basically do sports because it's fun and because it's a choice. It seems to most poorer nations, it's either get famous or stay anonymous and insignificant. Oh, and Bernard Lagat failed to live up to the hype and didn't even qualify. I felt like I wasted a few hours watching that Osaka championships. And Lagat was the great American hope in that one.
  7. But they were obviously the masters of the DKC development. Also, they are still a pretty decent development team, though they lost a lot of the star talent that used to be there. I really have no real hope on this one unfortunately. Nintendo doesn't even make great 2D platformers anymore and even the Sonic Advance/Rush series seems to have surpassed 2D Nintendo platformers of the last few years. Also, their heavy emphasis on easy difficulty nowadays won't jive with the steeper difficulty curve of the DKC games. I have a feeling they're going to totally mangle it and sell it for the kiddies.
  8. That's it. I'm not watching the Gymnastics anymore. It is fixed. That is all there is to it.
  9. As for Phelps, as much as I hate to admit it, he did deserve all the attention while he was there. It's almost like a freakshow with Phelps since his entire body is the embodiment of what a swimmer is supposed to be. Like how Michael Jordan was for Basketball and Tiger Woods is for Golf. On the otherhand, it's really disappointing to see American track stars being a shadow of its former self in just about all the Olympics in the past. There always are at least one outstanding track athlete from America and this year, it's been wracked with injuries and disappointments. And yeah, the gymnastics feel pretty rigged this time around. Actually more than ever. And oh yeah, the diving competition used to be owned by Americans like a decade ago. Still waiting for that new diving queen from America..
  10. Yeah, pretty amazing, though I wish the commentators slow down a bit with the heaping of praise. Actually, the NBC coverage is borderline annoying even when the Americans get golds, or the top Jamaican runner got the deserved gold. Also what is with that overtly cheerful old man in the gymnastics segment? And why is Mark Spitz the great big evil in the Olympic world now that Phelps is the 'in' thing now? Enough already.
  11. Video games? Too nerdy. Anime? Too Wapanese. Indie music? Too obscure. Television shows? TVSSUCKNOWADAYSHURRR. I agree, the prejudice people have with all sorts of media wholesale is annoying. Either say you are not acquainted with them or simply never got in touch with them instead of finding excuses to bash it. Also, people who come up with those kinds of putdowns should realize how unoriginal and unreasonable they're truly being.
  12. I'm not sure how it exactly works because I've fought level 1s before and sometimes got upwards to 70 points for it. Sometimes losing to a lvl 1 resulted in 30 point loss or 100 point loss. Sometime the same for fighting people closer to your level. Either way, it's an incredibly annoying and frustrating system and you should never get de-leveled IMO. It just doesn't justify your skill and experience level. De-leveling only frustrates players as I see it. It doesn't help when a handful of games results in disconnects because people don't want to lose their precious points.
  13. I wonder about their skepticism because the figures come straight of Phelp's own mouth. Also, world class athletes have been known to eat all day so I wonder why the skepticism there. And 6000 calories is still ridiculous.
  14. Oh yeah, and I finally got a level-down before. That's even more frustrating. I've since regained it though.
  15. Both games are awesome and you're weird? Bionic Commando is like an oldschool NES game which it mostly is. And Braid basically is something like Ico. More of an experience and a series of puzzle than an action/adventure title.
  16. Phelp's diet is way more impressive. On another note, I'm a bit disappointed that Phelp's biggest Korean/Japanese rivals are basically doing their own things in other events. They only came across eachother a handful of times this Olympics. And Phelps even lost pretty handily in a few other prelims by them too.
  17. It's still pretty fun online for the most part except the rankings system is conducive to frustration. Once you're higher in levels, once you lose, you lose a whopping 100 points, give or take. But when you win, you usually squeak out 20-30 points. So whenever you lose, it feels like you've lost all of that effort. It's even worse when it's a spammer or move-abuser who's beating you. I do think non-rank online games are incredible fun though, because nothing is on the line other than just having fun and fooling around.
  18. Better level 1's who actually tries to try new things instead of lvl 40+s that only knows how to abuse and spam. Actually, when I make new games, I simply leave the room if a notorious spammer enters. It pisses them off, but good for them. I refuse to keep playing ploy to move abusers (I admit I should be countering them, but countering it is not only dangerous, but not fun. I don't want to spam against spammers to win.)
  19. LOL and applause that this game is the top ranked game on GameFAQs today. This game is really like a good book with open interpretations for everyone. It's all a dream, it's all a conspiracy, it's the princess's trap. It's the hero's delusions, etc etc. And the scary thing is, a lot of those theories actually make some sense.
  20. I find it funny that some challenge rooms are so difficult, the best anyone can really come up with is 1%, 2% or at the highest, 6% completion rate. I think it's room 16 or something, but after SIXTY tries, I finally finished. And ranked decently high. Bionic Commando always was a pretty difficult game. Way more so than usual because of the swing mechanics which innately made them difficult. Now in Rearmed, enemies are much smarter, they even hunt you down to a point, and they take cover (what is this, an FPS game?). I'm glad the game is actually more hardcore than I remember it. But also, this game is quite difficult as well. I enjoy the challenge, but I wonder how total newbies would feel.
  21. Yeah. It doesn't seem likely any of those girls are "16 years or older". You can tell most of them are probably 12-13 year olds. They have an innate advantage over the older competition. I'm pretty certain those gymnastics are way more difficult than they let on. If you ever watch them on a regular basis, they always have a major tumble or two. It's just that it's the Olympics and people are actually watching. Also, grip seems to be the biggest factor and not even the actual twisting or flying. I'm actually surprised they don't slip more.
  22. Also, why keep Softball but ban Baseball? TOO AMERICAN HURRRRRRRRR
  23. Why are people getting caught up in the stupid "puzzle!=artsy" crap? I hear the game has a great narrative to boot. And a unique style. I played the demo and I believe the hype is well deserved. This might be one of the most unique and BEST sidescrolling game I've played in years.
  24. I find it funny when a spammer called me a spammer for countering his own spamming. Seriously, the SC4 community itself is broken because everyone is so dedicated to abusing moves. Last night it was pleasant enough. Tonight, it was full of same-move spammers. Now I know why so many people just dislike the scrub-tactics of fighting games. Because it's true. Spam spam spam and rake in the wins. Don't even bother making it fun or interesting because god forbid, you'll lose!
  25. But some players do that. They are all silent until they feel the urge to trashtalk.
