  1. I have yet to see anyone ever trying to play Ashelotte online though. I used her twice just to mess around and that's it. Her short range Astaroth style is really hard to win with. It's a real shame since she has some of the coolest design as a robot doll girl.
  2. Some say with good points that Mitsurugi is probably broken and is unbalancing the game with the way he tracks players down. You can't ever sidestep him correctly since he tends to track almost all of his low kicks and most low swipes. As for Siegfried, a moderately proficient one will just mix up his stances and make things really annoying. As for bonus characters, I never had a problem with that. In fact, I think they should have made Angol Fear and Ashelotte more powerful and unique. If anything, they should aim to give bonus characters their entirely unique moveset next time. Bringing back some old characters sounds good though. And maybe not making Rock almost useless.
  3. With Rock, you have to map A+K on a shoulder button or something. It really is awkward any other way. Also why the heck does his reach have to be as short as Sophitia's, I will never understand. They basically made Rock a joke character in the game and overpowered Siegfried and Mitsurugi now. Now I wish they are gone forever in the next versions or at least toned down a bit with their damage and automatic mixup. Every other online game is a snobby Mitsurugi or Siegfried abuser. I normally leave games if I know the other player only knows Siegfried, because it's like a third of the games I play now are against him. I usually beat him, but Siegfried has his up and down game powered up and frankly it's just annoying to fight him. As for Lizardman, he's quite a bit more gimmicky in his style but he's still a very good character standing up if you know some of his standing attacks. Mainly mixing up 66A+B and 1A and others. I never really liked Lizardman until the powered up crawling stance in this version.
  4. Rock can be good if you know some of his faster moves. You really need to weed out his incredibly useless moveset and just work on 5 or 6 he's really good at + the ground grapples. And coincidentally, I use the Amy spam to full effect. I actually mix in at least three or four unique Amy stances, so you can't exactly call it a spam other than complete and utter domination. Also, Amy is apparently the very top seed, even in high level tournaments. Go figure. She is really that good.
  5. And yet like total online newbies, the Newgrounds team can't get the netcode right and it's probably one of the buggiest online games on Xbox Live. They did say they were working on a patch. Hopefully it'll come out soon.
  6. Google has a lot of good ideas, but they're basically becoming a bit of the new Apple. Their explanation on Chrome's features is so yuppie-hip it's ridiculous.
  7. Oh yeah, the music is really something else entirely. Just like the creators in Newgrounds, they got a lot of truly original talent to do the music this time and it is epic. Flash animation style epic, but epic nontheless. Also, though Alien Hominid was a nice re-styling of Metal Slug type of shooter, it was much too difficult. This game however, is just the right mixture of challenge and fun. And the final boss is easily the most epic beat-em-up boss you can ever fight.
  8. As of right now, Natsume no Yuujinchou (Book of Friends). It's genuinely a thought provoking series without the headiness of sci-fi shows (like Ghost in the Shell). Also, some of its episodes had some of the most melancholic and bittersweet moments I've seen in any entertainment media in a while.
  9. $120+ for Phantasy Star 4. And to this day, still one of the best bangs for the buck. I also have no regret paying $70 for DKC1 and DKC2. The time I spent on all of them were worth it. Hundreds of hours. Maybe Super Mario RPG too. That was way too expensive and I had to hold my parents hostage back then.
  10. Call me crazy, but this game is leagues better than Final Fight in multiple regards. Final Fight and other beatem-ups were iconic, but they simply don't have the variety Castle Crashers has. The bosses are a ton of fun, the normal enemies can be a major pain (which is a good thing in beatem-ups) and the 4 player Co-Op is maybe the most fun I had with the genre since TMNT4. The only negative I have of the entire game is that sometimes the action gets way too frantic, so the entire screen is filled with carnage, but again, that may be seen as standard fare for beatem-ups anyway.
  11. Braid is a great experience, but the developer is a bit of a pompous ass. Calling out World of Warcraft saying it milks the gamers? We heard that one before. Only a million times. Also, the game is a bit on the short side IMO. You have a lot of little secrets and challenge rooms in Bionic Commando or get a lot more actual content out of something like Puzzle Quest for example. And now Castle Crashers. I paid for Braid, but 800 points would've been optimal.
  12. Maybe Kojima can realize that his team can do the porting without him. Kojima can be a bit silly sometimes.... or was that total stupidity on his part? That seems to happen on occasion with him. But anyway, I do agree it should be interesting for him to do anything aside from MGS. I actually want Kojima not to be involved in future MGS games anymore. Enough of his whimsical silliness. I think we had enough of it for a decade.
  13. http://kotaku.com/5041760/ryan-payton-has-left-kojima-productions-mentions-mgs5 Of course, it might mean Kojima might not be making it, but MGS5? Sounds like some sort of a continuation. Also, if you can't tell, it is still in the speculation stage. I still hope any new Metal Gear game won't be a "Solid" tale, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.
  14. Sky Gunner. It's basically a mix of Japanese anime style going after a French motif (yeah, those Japanese loooove Germans and French) and with a very good shooting/Ace Combat style gameplay. Also way too underappreciated. I'd recommend Persona 3 FAS, but it is a JRPG with a lot of grinding, but it's probably one of the best value for the money as JRPGs go. Oh, and though people keep raving about Okami, I think the most fun Clover game still has to be God Hand. Doesn't hurt that it's probably one of the weirdest and funniest game I ever played too. The action is also pretty ridiculous.
  15. I have to say 'blah' on the MGS5 news. So basically Kojima has been lying to us. AGAIN. Also, Kojima constantly and ignorantly saying MGS4 isn't possible on the 360 is annoying too. Because every other f'n port never worked on 360 just as well, m i rite.
  16. I liked the Chinese pop stars. They were only off key because they had to share the stage with a dozen others including Jackie Chan. That said, they needed more Jackie Chan..
  17. I have to laugh at people who are so vile against the Schumacher movies on that point. BECAUSE THAT WAS THE POINT.
  18. The British stuff at the end was a bit strange. Felt almost ghetto compared to the Cirque du Soleil stuff the Chinese were pulling out. Oh, and parade around David Beckham like a king!
  19. There was that wrestler who protested by leaving his bronze of the podium after believing that he should've won gold. Sorry for the horrible music video. That's the best they can come up with. The actual segment isn't edited... too much. Also, did anyone catch the boxing commentators including Teddy Atlas just LASHING away at the Olympics/Amateur boxing programs and saying the points system, for the lack of a better word, is worth ignoring as a whole? (that's what they said on air. I only could mutter "ouch" when they did). Really, either make the points system a mechanical process of simple judging like normal boxing or just don't bother. Maybe the same for a lot of other judged sports out there.
  20. I would not say Wind Waker was a 'dark' game, and heavens no on 'exremely dark'. It was melancholic, that was all. Besides, Hyrule still continues, Links are still born and everything continues even after the apocalypse. In that sense, it was actually a pretty bright and cheery story in a way. Also, though the ocean could've use more variety, I liked sailing through oceans quite a bit more than traveling on land due to the aesthetics of seafaring. Maybe someday they'll do sky-faring? It only makes sense. And finally, though the dungeons were great, the game was still too easy and ushered in the age of Zelda games where you might not die once the whole playthrough. Also there were too few of it.
  21. Doing Player matches is fun that way though. You're not really cheating the game because there is nothing to cheat and it's mostly about just having fun, screwing around and etc. And of course, boosting as needed.
  22. That, and the the cheat-code called the shark-skin emulating body suits. What happened to the skimpy boxers for men and even skimpier one piece for women? That was actually like what real people wear on real swimming pools. Now it's all space aged and it feels like they're cheating physics. I'm fairly certain the American system was medal counts first. The US has been second to many host nations before (mostly in the winter Olympics) and they were always ahead because they had the glut of the rest of the medals. I almost don't even consider American medals as simply "American" because it's like we're basically having all these medal-contenders from other nations come here or have a ton of foreign talent come together for it. Most of the runners have emigrated to the States or it usually is from of the African origin, the ping-pong team actually has a lot of former Chinese nationals and obviously the Gymnastics team (especially female) has that former Russian gold history behind it. Well, that's actually what being American means really. Even weirder is the synchronized swimming whether it be by two people or five people. Just strange watching people dance in water.. Also, Boxing and TaeKwonDo being awarded by clean-blows is a bit silly to me. Because glancing blows don't count, it just looks almost arbitrary in how they score it.
  23. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Most modern sci fi movies still doesn't live up to the original Star Wars trilogy and neither does most movies come close to some of the best Trek movies. And DKC series is still one of the most fun platformers I've played. Just to prove the point to myself, I'm replaying DKC2 right now. Way more fun than anything Sega or Nintendo put together in the last decade or so.
  24. The DS Lite actually has a bit more weight than the PSP Lite, so..
  25. The original game has about the same kind of challenge, except the bosses were a total nonfactor. Now it presents real problems, and I think it's best that way. Also, they totally turned Rad Spencer into Duke Nukem.
