  1. Moon Patrol 'Mare Crisium' A fun minimal little dance tune. Not a lot of complex stuff going on. Only major gripe is the usage of vocal samples. 2/5
  2. Mega Man 2 'Stainless Steel' Wow, I'm ecstatic that I get to be the first one to review this tune that I love so much. AE does some excellent work here with a harsh/buzzy melody sample and the drum work is amazingly good as usual. The little break at 1:44 with just the synth sound and the drum and buzz work is really impressive, as is all of AE's work that I have yet to hear. Overall this song is one of my favorites Mega Man mixes to ever grace OverClocked. You absolutely must grab this song. While you're at it, if you haven't already, grab AE's Wind Shear, and Flash Fire mixes.
  3. Ninja Gaiden II 'Sprinting Riffs' More upbeat than most of Kaijin's stuff, I wonder how much he had to do with this mix really. This mix made it onto my 3rd or 4th OCR-CD. Some impressive electric guitar work and cool background tunage, this is an overly excellent tune. Recommended.
  4. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 'Launchface GO!' Oooh, another bass and beat heavy Jivemaster tune, are all his tunes this cool? Okay, I'm not a big fan of this particular mix, but I think that's the original song at work there, Jivemaster does a high quality mix of this tune with a buzzy bass sample and some interesting percussion. If you're a fan of Jivemaster then grab this tune.
  5. Mega Man 8 'Frosty Delight' I never really played MM8, so I don't recognize this tune, but that's okay, cus I'm not overly fond of it. It sounds like I'm listening to it through a pipe of some sort. Although if Chako was going for a cold/frosty/winter effect, he certainly achieved it with the samples used. Not a bad mix, but I don't like the muffled sound to most of it.
  6. Donkey Kong Country 2 'Ghost of St. Helens' Ahh, a Peeples tune. Scott does some excellent work, and this is no exception. This mix is a sort of creepy tune with distant, echoed samples, and strings in the background. About half way through the mix, there is a part that's less creepy, almost happy sounding, and then it goes back to creepy with some interesting flute samples. Great work here. I really like this track.
  7. Killing Game Show 'Daft' Mistah P. AKA djpretzel, says this mix is a take on Daft Punk's style. Well, I don't know a lot about Daft Punk, in fact the only song I know for sure is that annoying Around the World tune, and so I can't say this sounds like any Daft Punk I've heard. But it definitely sounds better than Around the World. This is a fairly fast mix with a lot of different things going on, on different layers. The drums are cool, the melody is okay, the samples are pretty cool. Not in my top ten, but still pretty damn good.
  8. Castlevania 'Rigor Dance' Well, I've never been a big fan of Pordon's stuff. The beginning of this sounds like some default FruityLoops samples and effects, maybe it's just me. I personally didn't find this mix to be very interesting, it couldn't really hold my attention by itself for very long.
  9. Super Castlevania IV 'House Party' While the lead sample at first is a little weird, I personally really liked this mix. I remember some people complaining about a sample in here that hurt their ears, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe my hearing is just so bad that I've been rendered immune to it. Whatever. This is a good mix, with some unusual samples being used (not unusual like strange, but unusual, as in, not usual) but I like it.
  10. Castlevania 2 'Bloody Hell' Holy crapamoli. Kaijin + Ailsean = Amazing. Two excellent mixers at work here, making one of the best guitar mixes on the site. Classic rock style makes this a truly great mix for me as I absolutely love a good electric guitar thrashing. I don't know who did exactly what in this mix, but regardless of that, the two mixers here did some splendid work and and it definitely doesn't disappoint. Recommended.
  11. Final Fantasy IV 'Surface of the Moon' Ah, the great Mazedude always provides us with quality work, and he certainly doesn't fail here. If you remember the original base for this particular piece, it was meant to have an eerie feel to it as far as I was concerned. Mr. Getman succeeds in bringing the eerie feel over to his mix, with a distant sort of sound to it during parts, and creepy sounding strings in other parts. Not one of my favorite mixes ever, but it gets points just for being one of the spookiest mixes I've enjoyed.
  12. Mega Man 2 'Bubble Man (wants to get) Funked Up' I was never fond of the Bubble Man theme, but I am fond of this mix. Fond indeed. The sample used at the beginning seems to have a bubbly feeling to it. And it's used all throughout the mix I believe, except during the short break about halfway. High quality mix, I love it. Recommended.
  13. Secret of Mana 'Smooth Mana' Hmm, I'm not into jazz. I just don't like it. And I think that's what this is. Well, regardless of whether it's jazz or not, I really don't like the style. The mix seems to be well done though. The saxaphone doesn't sound right either. I think we need a good jazz lover to review this track. I just can't cut it. But for what it's worth, there's my 2 cents.
  14. Blaster Master 'Amphibian' Can't say I particularly care for this mix. I don't care for the samples used, and I don't like the melody itself. Each to his own I suppose.
  15. Super Mario Bros. 3 'Swingin' Porno Mix' Regardless that this short little mix is supposed to be completely humourous, it still disturbs me. Not exactly the best musical contribution made to OverClocked, it's a funny little mix besides. I don't notice anything overly interesting about the music itself, but maybe it's because I can't drown the moaning out enough to hear it. That's right, you heard me. Moaning. Listen to it a few times, laugh at it, then put it away 'til your friends come over.
  16. I think he wants his pay. I mean the email address. Yes.
  17. Super Metroid 'Maridia Remix' Not totally fond of the intro on this one, but when it hits the song I'm used to/expecting at 0:40 then I begin to like it a lot more. I like the part where all the instruments go quiet around the 2 minute mark, I love it when tunes stop all instruments except one for a moment. This is a good mix. Not one of my favorites, but it has a place in my playlist. Check it out.
  18. Wow, this is really good. As far as I'm concerned, it's a definite poster.
  19. Suikoden II 'Reminiscence (Deep Sleep)' Nice soft mix from Hazama. This is my personal favorite of his stuff, (I'm not overly fond of the Pop-Up mix). If you like pianos you'll love this mix. A very underwatery sounding mix also. It's a pretty tune.
  20. Mega Man X 'Sigmatism' As the first Mega Man X mix that came to the site I can't say I was disappointed that's for sure. While it's not the theme that I was necessarily hoping for, it's still a well done mix by mellogear.
  21. Streets of Rage 2 'Da Streets' Piano and saxophone. Nice mellow mix, but not my style, I don't really dig it personally. Well done though.
  22. Dragon Warrior 'Timeless' Must say that I really liked this song. The strange flute sample at the beginning was really cool, and even though I never played the game myself (my parents did though!) I remembered the tune as soon as it started up. Love it when the drums and background beat kick in. Eventually after that, there's some deep warm strings that kick in. Great tune. I really liked it.
  23. Final Fantasy IV 'Submission' Damn it, where's my right channel! Oh there it is. The intro goes on for a bit too long to me (1/3 of the song?), but after that it's okay. Melody from the overworld screen as near as I remember, not bad, nothing amazing or crazy-go-nuts. But good.
  24. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine 'Blobby Blob Disco' I have to say I absolutely love the intro to this mix, the rest isn't as good to me, but the intro is amazingly good. Don't read that wrong though, the rest of the mix is really good too. True to Jivemaster style, this mix is a beat heavy fast paced mix of DOOM! Well.. okay, not doom, it's just pretty danged cool.
  25. Mega Man 3 'Intro (injury Mix)' While I used to be a big fan of this mix, I find that it just doesn't seem as good anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's still a pretty good mix. The intro I think is one of the best parts of this mix. Besides that, some techno stuffs, nothing special, or anything that makes me go, "Wow." A good mix nonetheless. I recommend it to all the techno and Mega Man lovers out there. There must be a lot of them considering the amount of mixes here fitting that range.
