  1. Mega Man 2 'Dr. Wily Haunts Flash Man' Maybe I just like Mega Man music, but I really enjoyed this tune. The guitar playing is neat, something I always like in a tune is a good sounding electric guitar. The synth stuff is okay, nothing new or exciting, a little too quiet maybe even. I like the guitar and drums, but sometimes it's all I can hear. See 3:06 for my example. I always liked Flash Man's theme, and you can hear it here, but it's not distinct enough for my taste. Overall though, a really cool song.
  2. Fear Effect 'Cel-Shaded Geisha' Honestly, I can't say I liked this song. The voice samples really bugged me. Let's get someone in here that liked this song.
  3. I think this is probably my fault because my definition of stellar might be different than yours. By stellar, I meant like, new, exciting, absolutely amazing, something that makes me go "Wow!" This mix is really great. Really really great. But it's not anything amazingly new or original. It's some basic techno. It's excellent, but I don't detect anything special. Also, I was distracted while I wrote this review. And the review for the other recently posted song. My main goal of doing the review right away was getting the reviews available to the other people of the board. Yeah, I was distracted. It looks nice and neat in Notepad btw.
  4. Final Fantasy IV 'Let Us Dance in the Dark Phantom Phorest' I really like this tune. Not sure why, but it's pretty cool in my books. Nothing stellar, I'm not sure why I love it so much as it just seems to be basic techno (well done though) and that's not usually enough to make me really like a song. Who knows. Great song regardless of anything. Wow my reviews suck.
  5. Street Fighter EX Plus α 'Pullum Summer Trance Mix 2002' This seems to be some generic techno. Never heard the original tune, so I can't comment on originality or anything, but it's certainly a fun head-boppin tune.
  6. *attacks Malcos with DiscoDan* more votes! come on guys
  7. Shit, I can't believe I forgot to vote in my own thread.. Well on a quick re-listen for specifics, I'd have to agree with Malcos. Everything sounds good, no, great. But the drums kinda don't seem to fit. Vote: Yes.
  8. >>I believe this is the song he wants us to listen to. >>It's on this page here. *judgement pending*
  9. Phantasy Star Online 'Lobby Static' If you've read through my reviews, you'll know that I'm not a fan of static in mixes. This song is no real exception, although there isn't an abundance of loud static in the song, which is good as far as I'm concerned. Now see, this is all personal opinion but, to me, this song sounds like it's being held back. There are some parts where it seems the song is allowed to "shine through" (examples: 0:40, 1:10) but these shining moments don't last long before the song seems to be subdued again. Once again, only my opinion, but I felt as though the song would have been much better if, at 0:40 where the song was first allowed to break through, it had stayed above the static. It just feels to me that throughout the length of the song, it's struggling to be heard, to be seen. Was this intentional? Was Quinn Fox trying to portray this battle between music and static that perceive? Who knows. Personal Rating: 2/5
  10. Not from me as long as I can't download it. Sorry. I always back up our most recent stuff here, and I name them based on the topic title.
  11. Poopyhead? POOPYHEAD? Look here! I'm the all mighty moderator! I control the fate of this board! I am the TWISTER OF DESTINY! So don't mess with ME, little man! [The previous post is to be taken with a healthy dash of humour.]
  12. No need to apologize Orky. I'm what people call "lacking" in the musical skills department. In all honesty it kinda surprises me when people tell me that they did actually like it.
  13. OFF CHANCE? Why I'll have you know that.. yeah it goes down sometimes..
  14. Jurassic Park (SNES) 'New Age Gipsy Dance Mix' Some nice smooth trancey sounding instrument starts off this mix. The mix really begins at 0:30 I feel, where a sorta bouncy bass comes in with some guitar picking. There’s some clicky percussion here, then some heavier stuff comes in. A pipe of sorts starts up at 1:14 but fades out to the almost lone guitar again after a short bit. Then the bass/percussion comes back and then the pipe, then it starts into something new with a new sample also at about 2:10. Not sure what that is, sounds like another pipe of sorts. After that plays for a bit it goes back to the beginning tune. Overall it’s an okay tune. Nothing that I personally will rant about though. 3/5
  15. Donkey Kong Country 2 'Simian Symphony: Part 1' Protricity let me listen to this song a while ago now, so I've heard this before, so let me just tell you how BOOORING AND STUPID AND LAME THIS IS!!! ... ... Just kidding! Haha. Truthfully, I really like this song, not my favorite of Prot's (that's Brainsick Metal) but it's great. I love the piano intro. The horn sounds a little off, un-real, etc, but not bad. The strings are great. At around 1:00 it seems to change themes I believe and becomes a little darker, with a lower horn, and some deep heavy drums. Then it changes again at 1:30, it becomes much lighter with a harp and some choir backing I believe. Not sure what the following sound is (at 2:11), but it's pretty neat. That goes for a bit then the trumpet takes over and the strong percussion comes back. Later the percussion fades out and the piano does it's thing for a bit. Now it changes themes again (4:13). It gets a very powerful feeling with some bold percussion and horns. Eventually that simmers down into a short peaceful bit just before it ends. Overall, I REALLY like this mix, and I suggest you get it, especially if you like orchestral stuff. 4.5/5
  16. Sounds like some bad mp3 compression right off the bat, or just a strange flange effect. Essentially everything from the beginning annoys me, but when the bass and drums kick in I like that (which is not to say I like the stuff going on, but just that drum loop). The part at 1:47 I liked, but it didn't last long. Also at 2:44 it got kinda good, but soon the same repetitive drums were back. I think the usage of original Pacman sounds, while adding to the nostalgiac value I suppose, were a bad idea personally, I didn't like them at all. Sorry, I'm gonna have to take a no on this one. Vote: No.
  17. In case you guys get here and the site is down and it's going really slow or something, you can grab it from here (when it finally finishes downloading). http://rks.no-ip.com/~ocrjudges/ (see sticky at top of forum for name and password) I might not have the fastest upload speed, but currently I'm getting a whopping 2-3 kb/sec from the submitted URL. Review pending. I'm only at 6% of the download yet.
  18. The drums sound kinda off, and the lead is a little quiet, kinda strange sounding too. The rain annoys me on a personal level because I dislike static in music, and that's what it sounds like to me. Also: It cut off at the end. I'm hoping that's a bad download, not the file itself. It sounds like it has potential but it needs a bit of work. Vote: No.
  19. FruityLoops drums = Not good. (I'm a hypocrite, I know) The mix seems kinda empty, like there should be something accompanying the lead, it seems.. lonely. I don't like the StarCraft samples, at all. Vote: No.
  20. While this mix isn't anything amazingly original all the time I still thought it had it's okay parts. The only problem I'm having is deciding if it was changed enough.. some parts sound a lot like the original song. But that part near the middle (it starts at 1:03) is really cool. Vote: Yes.
  21. Glitch at the beginning. Was that my download? Or is that in the song? Whoa! I recognize this.. I seen it on the Project Majestic Mix demo tracks like years (re: a year) ago! It was only a clip then unfortunately (Note: I still have it) and I guess it didn't go onto the CD. Now this is just cool, I like it, some of the playing is a bit off at times I think, I wasn't fond of the victory theme area, but I think that it should still go up. Vote: Yes.
  22. Right off I can't say that I'm fond of this, in all honesty it sounds like something being played on one of those children's keyboard. And uh.. well it doesn't get better.. I was actually expecting it to start like that and then go into something uh.. good. Sorry. Vote: No.
