Man, this is what I've been waiting for! Two of my favorite OCReMixers, and one of my all-time favorite VG tracks. This is exactly the kind of treatment this song needed. The vibe of this mix fits the accomplished feeling you get at the end of the game. If only all credits had this feel to them. =) I love it.

So I have had issues with the Zune software storing remixes properly. The big issue being that some songs tend to 'overwrite' other songs. For example I try to add both FFVII Aeris Lives (Kevin Lau) and FFVI Seized with Fury (housethegrate), but only one is added. The software says its found 2 new media items, but only one is added to my OCR album (Areis Lives), and I cannot ever find the other (Seized with Fury), even by browsing every song, album, and artist. When I try to re-add Seized with Fury it can be found in the OCR album, but now Aeris Lives is nowhere to be found. If I reattempt to add Aeris Lives, it comes back to the album but Seized with Fury is gone again, and so on. I have downloaded MusicBrainz to make sure all the the ID tagging is correct, and it all checks in fine. Album Artist, Artist, Year, Album, etc., it's all what it's supposed to be. The one thing I HAVE noticed, is that most of the songs that overwrite one-another have similar time lengths. In this case, Aeris Lives is 5:59 min and Seized with Fury is 6:00 min. Other overwrites have similar times as well, but some are a little more drastic than others. Has anyone else with Zune software had a similar issue? Oh, and we please not make this a Microsoft hate thread? We definitely have more than enough of those already. I just want some help here, thanks.

Vinyl is definitely the way to go. I still buy CDs now and again for stuff that's never been pressed for vinyl, but that's about it. My primary source of music has been vinyl, after my old CD collection (huge) got stolen. Now I have a diverse range I've collected in the past 13 months. After having owned almost all of these albums on CD prior to their theft, I have to say I enjoy each one much more on vinyl than I ever did before. They all just sound so textural and atmospheric, it's like it's being played live in my living room. Plus, most recent pressings on vinyl also include high-quality mp3 (which is still not as good as the vinyl version, but at least they offer something) versions so you can still enjoy the music on your portable devices. It's making a comeback. Vinyl for the 21st century!

I like this mix quite a bit, but I do have a couple of complaints. First the complaints. I think the EQing really is an issue. There is a bit of 'hiss' going on, so I can't really listen to it at loud volumes or it becomes very noticeable. Also, the length bothers me a bit. For being such a jazzy, and intimate piece, it ends far too soon. Something a little longer, maybe touching the four-minute mark would help it resolve a little more for me, but it just feels like it ends when it's just getting really groovy. But I love the feel of the track. This would not feel out of place while listening to the Waking Life OST or Coltrane. It is very jazzy and very stylish and the overall atmosphere really pulls me in. The loose timing compliments the atmosphere, and I personally love that in songs. Same with loose tuning. It honestly just sounds like there are a lot of blues notes in there, not quite being as high or as low as they're 'supposed' to go, which is another very common jazz/blues technique. To me, that's what really gives this piece its character. Overall, it's a nice mix, and a welcome addition to my FFVI mixes and my jazz collection. =)

I bought a shirt for the first time. Been coming here since, what, '01 or '02. Either way, it's been a while, and sadly this is my first contribution to the site. The idea to make a month to support OCR to get people's asses into gear is genius. Some of us need that push sometimes. And, if the shirt is as awesome as I'm hoping it'll be, I'll buy a white one too soon after, just because I love this place that much. LONG LIVE OCR!!! EDIT: After reading the whole thread, start to finish, I've understood the gravity of the situation on a long term scale. My first reaction was to donate $1,000,000,000 immediately. But since this is more of a LONG TERM issue, I think I'll just have to donate in tiny increments every month until the end of time. ...but I'll still order another T-shirt before the month is over, just in spirit of the occasion. =)

Wow... First VotL, and now Disco Dan returns! Life has truly been breathed back into OCR. And this is an amazing testament to the glory of OCR's old days. DD has made a mix on par or higher than his last mix (which if I remember was Triforce Majeure). The SFX in the beginning are brilliant, and absolutely believable. They set the mood for the seven minute suite to come. The nearly-ceaseless arpeggios in the background kept the whole piece moving, even when the rest of the track seemed to slow down and mellow out. The electronica beat and the occasional timpani were very nice details, as well. All the synths sounded great together, none really sounding out of place or overpowering the others. And the wind and waves at the end of the piece was a very satisfying resolution. This mix never once feels too short or too long or too repetitive or too anything. Awesome stuff DD, and it's very nice to see you back. Stay back this time!

First off, I just have to say, thank you all for your contributions to this project and OCR, proving even after six years of remixes, you can still be epic and bring something new and different to the table. This project has revived my faith in OCR's life, which I thought had once passed its golden years, and now I am (pleasantly) surprised to find that it is only NOW entering in its prime. You guys deserve some serious applause, more than I could give you if that's all I did every day for an entire year. Secondly, this remix is amazing. As many others have said, too short for its awesomeness, but I also understand dragging it on would have made it more drawn out, and less exciting, so that's not much of a big deal. The sound quality is amazing. I can (and have already) put this back-to-back with VNV Nation, A23, Voltaire, and even DJ Sammy and have it sound just as good, if not better, than their mastering and mixing, and that is a big deal. It's very hard making game mixes sound mastered enough to be taken seriously, and this mix (nay, whole album) pulls it off. The chip-tune intro is amazing. When I first heard it I was completely awed, and imagined fighting Sephiroth in 16-bit, with this playing in the background. Had VII been made on the SNES instead of the PS, that is what the music would have sounded like, and it still would have been awesome. The transitional idea from chip-tune to full orchestration to rock-operatic is genius, definitely adding some new flavor to an all-to-often remixed song. But just as importantly as the song's construction, is how well this song fits on Order, or the entire album as a whole. You guys did your part in making this mix brilliant, but what I like most is that it fits on the album in its entirety without sounding too far out there, or too epic. That coherence is very important, and again, you guys did not falter. Overall, this is a great mix. The brevity is the biggest flaw, but again, I wouldn't want it to be drawn out and lose its energy. If I want a nonstop mix of grand proportions, I can look to Advent's mix. Great job on this track, and on the album as a whole. You guys have worked miracles.

Yes! It's finally up on OCR!!! I remember when I first heard Taucer's "Town Life Acoustic" at VG Mix. It instanly topped my playlists because of it's simple charm, and at the time I was on one of my acoustic kicks. Hehe, I even remember when he tried to post it over here at OCR and the judges were no-ing it because of it's brevity and simplicity, claiming any guitarist could chuck out twenty acoustic remixes a day, so it was nothing special. Boy were they wrong. Maybe it is a simple arrangement, but I knew from the moment I heard this mix at VGM that it was meant to be recognized. djp's contribution made that possible. The classic, "I'm leaving, but I'll be back some day" theme fits perfectly considering the story of Chrono Trigger, and applies very well to the folky aura of the song. The lyrics - this whole song, actually - remind me of my past. It's almost as if Taucer's enchanting playing and pretzel's haunting vocals make the exact formula for nostalgia. My only complaint is the brevity. I wish I could say it had the short-but-sweet charm, but this song is way too awesome and deep to be fully contained by two mere minutes. I can only hope there might be a remake where it is expanded, and the true depth of the lyrics can be explored, but I'm not holding my breath. Overall, I have to say this is the best I've seen on OCR in a while, which is saying a LOT considering the 10-song flood of awesome remixes we've had lately. This is djp's vocal and lyrical talent at finest, and the epitome of Taucer's guitar playing. Defintely needs be heard, recognized, and adored for years to come. 15/10 (Surpassed any and all expectations)

All I can say...is...is wow... As djp said, I would have NEVER imagined the adrenaline-pumping F-Zero theme to make a piano arrangement. When I started to listen, I was skeptical that the arrangement would be too simple, and basically be the same song just played on piano. But it's not. The left hand is active all the time, making those scales fill in what would otherwise be dull space, and making the entire piece flow from start to finish. And fluidity is a great tool on the piano. My only gripes are the slips on the keys now and again. You can tell he mistakenly hit certain notes at certain moments and make you go, "Huh?" But those slips are gone in a second, and you're instantly swept away at how elegant such a hardcore song sounds on such a gentle instrument. I really like this mix. Not only is it my favorite F-Zero mix on the site now, but it's up there in piano arrangements with BogusRed's "Into the Golden Sunset" and kLuTz's pieces. Nice stuff John. 9.6/10

I haven't heard the American Album, though it seems promising. Perhaps this will be my foot in the door. But regardless, this song is freaking awesome. Slow and spacey, the first time I heard it, it actually reminded me of The Mars Volta touching on video games (which is fitting because you come directly after them on my music library). It's rather slow paced, and a little repetative in the intro, but it's so cool sounding that it doesn't matter. The voices later in the song add to the eerie feel and make it a little more whole. Although they can be a bit distracting, they seem to fit very well, and they're not there very long anyhow. It's one of the first mixes of its type that I've enjoyed in a VERY long time. After several listens I'm reminded more of djcarbunk1e's Luigi's Mansion mix. They seem to be sister mixes of similar styles, with different tricks and influences thrown in. I really dig it. 9/10

Ahhh, finally some Grandia II. With GIII coming out, I've actually been on a nostalgic run with GII, so this is almost exactly what I wanted. Instruments are nice, arrangement is pretty good, too. Although, my only gripe is that it sounds like it's just a bunch of solos followed occasionally by the theme. The chord changes at about 2:50 are nice, though. Very different, and spices up the song a lot. Good job Darkesword. 8/10.

Hehe, I had this song back when it was still a WIP, and back then I was impressed. I've only noticed two modifications since then; the two SFX at the beginning and end. The first effect caught my ear in a good way. That little giggle made the piece even better. The whole piece feels light-hearted and dreamy, yet nostalgic and sad at the same time, and that little giggle fit perfectly with that theme. The whole song is really nice. A lot of the awkwardness, - i.e. the off-beat strumming, muted notes, etc. - seemed to be done intentionally, or at least they weren't removed intentionally because they were wanted there. I think you said it best yourself when you said, it's "human variety rather than human mistakes." The mistakes add to the very natural, human feel the whole piece flows in. I really love how deliberate and intentional everything is. Makes this mix simple, yet stunningly complex. Very nice electric guitar in the "interlude" of the song. The only gripe I had was with the last SFX. I know it was intentional, and it did make me smile, but only after I flinched because it was in the wrong key. You could have transposed it and played it on guitar yourself, and THAT would have been freaking awesome. But hey, that gripe is only two seconds long, which is a minor complaint considering how great everything else is. Overall, I was very impressed with the WIP, and still remain to be impressed. I'm really glad this mix got to see the light of day. Great work Tepid. 8/10, only because of the dumb, out-of-key jingle at the end. Otherwise you'd get a 9. Great work, and I hope I get to hear more from you soon.

Oh yeah! Hearing all the reviews about rap and ridiculous lyrics, I was scared of this mix at first. I thought it would be one of OLR's lower-quality spoofs, but man was I wrong. The song actually has some nice music, groovy beats, awesome synths, and rhymes that can't help but make you smile. This mix has everything. By far one of OCR's most original songs yet. I love that it sticks to the original melodies enough to recognize, but with the beats and raps, it's a complete 180 from the original track. Great job to everyone on this track. = 10/10! EDIT: Alright, after hearing most of Bound Together, this is one of the catchiest tracks. I can't get enough of it. Great job!

This mix is pretty unique. The melody is strange, but surely enchanting, and grabs your attention throughout the whole mix. The orchestration is awesome, as well. When the drums come around everything just...clicks...and makes this extremelly listenable mix. Very different and unique, yet beautiful. Two e-props for Shnabubula!

Not a bad take on the Marble Zone theme at all. Being the Sonic fan that I am, I fell hard for djp's ReMix. I never thought I'd live to see the day that someone could match the level djp did. Josh Morse came rather close, and until this point I thought that's about as good as it would get. But you did it, and took it in a whole new, ethnic direction. Although Morse's and djp's mixes rock hard in their own respects, this on adds its own, unique flavor to the song. Some gripes are that it is a tad repetative at some moments, but that's a small deal. My second complaint is the beat in the beginning lasts too long. Other than that, though, you've got one genuinely awesome mix. If this is first time OCR stuff, I can't wait to see what you bring to the board in the future. Great job. 8.7/10

Alright, I've listened to this mix four times thinking maybe I was missing something everyone else seemed to be hearing. But alas, all four times I've heard the same thing, and to be honest, I don't know what all the hype is about. I will say this, first and foremost: This is not a BAD mix. In my personal opinion, however, it seems to be mediocre at best. The recording sounds MIDI-ish without the reverb, and the arrangement's too simple even for a piano piece. I did like that OoT's and OoA's themes were fused, I just think there could be a little more creativity in the arrangement. After all, the only instrument used here is a piano, so I think it should have been used to more potential. The piano is such an expressive instrument (like most) and here it's redundant at most points, without any derivation from either main melodies. I like it, and it would fit on my OverClocked Zelda playlist, but it's definitely not all I was told it's going to be. Sorry to say all this Dhsu and GrayLightning, but this mix was more than a little disappointing. 5.5/10 EDIT: After a fifth listen, this time listening intently and getting into the feel of the song, I have to say it's better than I gave it credit for the first time. There is more expression in the dynamics and the volumes alternations than I caught before. But still, it's lacking in many ways. Sorry for being so harsh, but I'm still not feeling this song as much as most people seem to. Although, you get do get a point or two for making great use of the dynamics. 7/10

I must say, I like pixietricks a bit more...o.O That's only because I've listened to more of her shows, though. Aroura's pretty damn cool too, and Ep 20 was great. Good job guys. Looks like you could alternate with the gals or something. As for Rayza, just get rid of him completely...he sucks. =P

Listening to Ep 20 now. I haven't mentioned anything yet, even though I've been listening since about...ten shows ago (Ep 10). I must say, though it's a lot of talking...oft times about nothing...it's really cool to listen to. For some reason the random thoughts and occasional witty comments are appealing to me. Sometimes it's kinda dull, but for some reason I keep getting sucked back...even to the 51+ minute shows. Keep up the work, alright?

Holy crap! You won't believe how happy I was when I meandered to OCR, quite uninentionally actually, and saw the ALttP picture where the newest mix goes. Then I saw the name, and nearly fell over gasping for air! It's been so long, it seems, since we've had new Neskvartetten. Immediately, I downloaded it and listened to it...and have since then three times on repeat. I can't stop listening to it, even though I'm in a computer lab and should have given up my seat about....ten minutes ago. What we have here is probably the coolest, slickest, smoothest dungeon themes ever. At first I didn't like the whole lack of volume on the piece, but after a second, and even third listen, I love it's faintness...fits with the mellow piece. Gotta love the chord progressions while sticking to the melody enough to keep the nostalgia flowing. I'm glad to see it made the remixes finally, and props to the NES-4 for contributing to society in such a great way. Keep up the good work!

Well, I may not be the only one who doesn't like this mix that much. I heard this in the WIP area when it was first started, and didn't care much for it then. I thought maybe with a different name it would have new elements or something, but nope, it was just the same. First things first, I love chthonic's other mixes A LOT, so I expected a lot from this. It's just not AS original as his other pieces and is straight forward (almost generic it fits the genre so well) electronica. It's nice sound quality, and obviously he did exactly what he wanted to do. I don't think chtonic was being lazy at all. I just think this is his worst work. And that's a real shame considering I'm a huge Zelda fan, so I really thought chtonic on LA would be awesome. Obviously what he wanted, just not what I like.

Wow. I'm put to silence. I was just writing a really long review about how this song was anti-climactic and kinda disappointing because it reminded me of a Jared Hudson Xenogears intro with no real melody. However, after a third listen, I've come to the conclusion that while the song IS still really empty feeling since the melody only comes in twice throughout the WHOLE 5:48 minutes of the song, it is VERY well arranged. The samples are honestly THE BEST I've heard on OCR to date. Having been here for over three years and having downloaded EVERY remix on the site, that's a WONDERFUL claim to have. Again, I just wish the trumpets stuck around more often because that's when this piece really feels like a song. However, the chimes, the plucked thingy, the strings, the effects, the chorus, and everything else are put to good use. Because of the lack of melody, I give it a 4/5. If it had those horns around just a BIT more, this would probably be THE BEST remix on the site, topping even Disco Dan's Triforce Majeure. Freaking awesome, though. Nice work.

A nice mix. I do believe this is the most ambient thing I've seen on this site. At first I was a little unsure of it, as seems to be the case with everyone else, but after listening my opion changed. The ambience is great because there is other stuff to take away from the repetition and makes it constantly unique. I can't believe I've gone this long without seeing this mix. I almost feel ashamed to call myself an OCR veteran, or even an Earthbound veteran. VERY good stuff here. VERV good. Highly reccommended.

Hehe, DJ Pretzel....awesome. Go figure that this would turn into a thank you thread. Appropriate, definitely. Well, I'll say my thanks as well because it's well earned. Thanks DJP for giving us remixers the opportunity to get together and form what I have come to consider my music haven on the net. I've been with you for three years now, downloading, listening, dropping my jaw time after time and again, and coming back. Why? Because simply: You're remixes and the remixes of everyone who's ever posted at OCR are the best things to happen to the gaming music world. Again, here is my personal thanks to you, DJ Pretzel, for OverClocked. All that jibberish aside though (=P), this remix is awesome. Definitely a different take on an already-catchy-but-often-overlooked song from FFVI. I really like the beat in the beginning that you have there. It's funky, but it's the good kind of funk. The kind that just makes you tap your feet and bob your head whether you want to or not. The flute/recorder thingy for the melody is reminiscient to your Sonic remix which is really, really interesting. And the piano gives it a nice, gentler kind of kick. When you come in with the guitar, it's just icing on the cake. In my overall opinion, not your best mix, but definitely one of the top mixes. If we're not comparing to your history at all, and looking strictly at this piece, then only good things can be said. Great job DJP. Here's to another five years, and then some, of OCR.

Wow. This is kind of disheartening. I know I'm not even a part of the project, but if I were in your shoes, I'd be highly disappointed. But worry not! The mixers on your project won't let you down. You may not get to comment on it right away and HELP it evolve, but I suggest having someone post the originals somewhere for you, and then if they're modified, have each modification available to you. That way when you listen, you hear it evolve. =)
