  1. I don't remember who handed the phone to me, but I'm pretty sure I was the second person, after the caller himself, to ramble at zircon's voicemail box. In my defense, I had about 375mL of tequila and one cup of gummi worm whatsit. Sorry I whored the bathroom up so much Arek, ironically enough, would not quit repeating about how I would not quit repeating things. No pictures of me up yet I was wrong about the crows camera angle, too. oops. That's cool though, we got my stupid picture from both angles There was an epic air-battle of two crows, too. I swear, it was the tequila for him. And me too ;P No whiskey-shits though!
  2. They didn't catch him on video either?
  3. I don't remember much, but damn it I certainly remember that bus.
  4. I'm getting a server interrupt error. I'll try to find the link on the page itself, and I will certainly have a look. If you'd care to do a little of my work for me, you could recommend for me a good strings VST, guitar VST, vocals VST, and piano VST. They do have demos, correct? edit: mm, yes. The site store's link is giving me errors, too. I certainly want to go through a link that will benefit OCR. This is the slight push I need to justify purchasing more instruments than I already have to work with, at this point.
  5. There was some deal where if one bought music gear through a certain site and mentioned OCR, OCR got a cut. I need VST instruments, and I figure that would be a very reasonable thing for OCR to try and find a deal on. If that happens, I'll set aside some time to browse the inventory. edit: yes, this, I found the Amazon store. Is it only for inventory listed on the website?
  6. Find us a link to an mp3 or youtube. I followed the link to the project, and saw no obvious list of downloadable mp3's, even after jumping through a couple of the links given. I'll transcribe a few bars for you, and if I like it, I'll do the rest. I'd probably only be willing to do the melody though. Harmonies are much more difficult to hear. Still, it's something to build from.
  7. I was just thinking this the other day. I miss the quite nexuses.
  8. Darzamat tee it is, then. I've seen pictures with nearly everyone in OCR shirts, but if I'm the only one wearing one, I'm afraid I would look like the equivalent of a Californian tourist wearing an open palm tree button-up with flowery trunks. Feel special ladies and gentlemen, ordinarily I never care what I'm wearing. San Fransisco beach weather. Should I dress for the cold?
  9. I still think a firm address for that parking lot would be simpler, since it would only be a single street name to deal with. If you ever do find out the address of that parking lot (or an outlet in the lot), please do go ahead and post it here. I'll check in every so often to see if you've given us an update. Other than that, really looking forward to tomorrow. Will I look dumb if I wear an OCR tee?
  10. I would much prefer to meet at that location, and have you cut us a deal on parking. I'll PM you my yes answer as well.
  11. UnMod was fun, but I'm not sure why people honestly talk about it as if it were a fearsome place. I understand it in jest, but really, only a weak-minded fool would take anything online seriously enough to be wary of a forum. In fact, it was the /b/-style anarchy that made me understand that nothing online is to be taken personally.
  12. Non-functional harmony sounds creepy.. specifically a lot of minor triads where they don't particularly fit in any one minor key. It'll sound diminished, and that's good for a creepy piece. Augmented triads sound a little trippy too. Experiment with those. Chromatic scales also sound creepy. Apply all of that theory to some choir aahs, or even just add some atonal choir shouts in places. Just a few ideas to experiment with. Listening to COTMM, etc is also a good idea. Along with that, listen to the Eternal Darkness soundtrack. Silent Hill is okay to listen to, too, but it's got a lot of JPop chaff thrown in, which really kills the mood of the game for me at times. Don't just listen to them, either. Study them. Ask yourself what they're doing with the music when that chill runs down your spine. Let me also say that I think your beginning is fine.. to a point. See, the whole piece feels like an introduction to me.. so I'd recommend leaving it as is (subtle changes are OK of course..) for a few bars.. and then move on to a new idea. My ear wanted to hear some crescendo after a while.
  13. Melodic metal does exist, but I do agree with you. It sounds more like a video game cover than a studio-produced record. Post a comment on the video page and ask what it is.
  14. Stormlord - Legacy of the Snake. Pretty much the whole thing is in the exotic Spanish-Phrygian mode. Take a symphonic-metal trip to Arabia.
  15. I specifically don't download every mix, because I know if it isn't predominantly in a minor-sounding mode, I won't like it. As a result, I usually only listen to mixes based on games from which I'm familiar with and do enjoy the original material. Here's an inconsistency: we're pretty open to the "I'm looking for this type of music" threads, but we're against genre labelling. Pick a side, gentlemen. What would be nice is if there were a "sounds like" field next to each mix, and the listeners could post a quick message there like a shout-out box. "Sounds like dark trance with electronic elements!" Then you avoid all of the people who complain about genre labelling, and they can find another trivial subject to pitch a bitch about.
  16. So the reason she's not around is because she posted semi-nudes of herself? :\ At least, that's what I'm gathering from her picture existing as a follow up to this: I miss all the drama.
  17. Cel-shaded Link didn't fucking bodyslam a ram in the first few minutes of the game. Prefer older link as well.
  18. Seagate falsely labelled 1TB 1,000 gigs is still a lot. NOT QUITE THERE YET, but I tell people it's a terabyte anyway.
  19. Just south of the SF Bay in California here.. there aren't many dedicated arcades around me. The bowling alley has a small array of racers and pinball machines, and Golfland has one.. and the LaserQuest (laser tag) has a small corner of arcade games.. and then you've got your Chuck E. Cheese, but I don't know where the closest one to me is. But the closest dedicated arcade I know of is on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Fun place, but by now all the games are old news. I dunno if its still around, but there was a relatively local Nickel arcade called Nickel City. I used to go to them all the time as a kid, and all of my saved up tickets are worthless since they're shutting down. Fuck you, Smokin' Token. Fuck you. edit: oh, and DnB. Hey, I guess there are still a number of em around. I just don't participate.
  20. Not at all. I would disagree. I think that's backwards. It's up to the composer to understand theory (keys?) to evoke an intended emotion. I'm sure Wagner knew how dissonant chromatic motives sounded, and I'm sure he understood the music further than I'm even able to look. He knew what he wanted the music to feel like, but you see, he was the composer, not the listener. I'm not sure why you're saying the study of music better enables one to feel the music. Non-musicians can still have their emotions enticed by music, and that's why it's so popular. It doesn't really take anything special to get the gist.
  21. Well, I certainly wouldn't recommend going into the psychology field.. I think you're mistaking my ability to analyze music as an inability to feel the music as a whole.
  22. It's pretty non-functional. There are diminished modes, too. I'm sure someone's given a name to some scale that could be applied to parts of that Wagner piece. It certainly doesn't stay in the same mode, either, whatever it may be. I'm not real sure what your point is. I don't think I implied that sticking to a church mode is necessary. I'm sure Wagner knew what he was doing, though.
  23. I've found a buddy. Please post more. Yeah I haven't looked at the Dark World's theme real closely, but Dorian sounds right. Not sure what Am to Maj7 means though, that looks like guitar jargon that I don't understand. Is the Maj7 an A Maj7 as well? A C E to A C# E G# ? The upper portion of Dorian is major-sounding, and I think that's what my ears are hearing that appear to clash. So if you lower the sixth and seventh notes of the Dark World, that'll be fixed. Or you can raise the sixth and seventh of Death Mountain... but I like the idea of moving everything to Aeolian much better ooh move it all to phrygian!
