point me to the worst video of that kind please.
i had a pretty good veggie routine going for a couple months, but the old habits have kicked back in.
i really wouldn't mind being more disgusted by reformed meat and the likes.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with eating meat in general (though I do believe it should be eaten in moderation LIKE MOST THINGS).
Here's a funny clip I saw recently from the Food Revolution http://www.wimp.com/nuggetexperiment/
I don't really have a problem with McDonalds. They actually use real chicken meat for their nuggets and sandwiches. But lately the whole mechanically separated and artificially flavored thing just doesn't really appeal to me much.
-
I used to love the McRib. I used to like hot dogs. I used to like a lot of meat products in general. Then I stumbled across one of those "here's how meat is mechanically separated, then re-flavored because it's nasty and dyed so it doesn't resemble the stuff it actually came from" videos and I just haven't quite recovered...
Don't get me wrong I'll still eat meat, but man, that stuff haunts you.

Asked this on Facebook. I'm curious to know how many of you play and/or write songs for or featuring acoustic guitar?
I don't care if you think you're good or terrible, I'm just wanting to get a general sense of how many people have an interest in or utilize the acoustic guitar in some way, whether it's just in your room for fun or on tour with [insert famous artist here].

Any online game where you have to shoot a person more than once in the head to kill them...no.
On that note, I dusted off the N64 and fired up some Goldeneye recently, and this game is TERRIBLE about this. The N64 controller is bad enough, shooting the enemies in the head only to have your bullet deflected by a cloth hat is pretty frustrating lol

I was under the impression that it was Masashi Hamauzu who scored FFXIII.
Though ME2 did beat Squeenix in the RPG category, and that's no small achievment.
You are right, sir, my mistake. This just goes to show that THE WINGLESS AKA JOHN BURNETT IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Thought the results were worth sharing:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/11650808
Full results are:
* Action game of the year: Assassin's Creed II
* Game On Shooter of the year: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
* Racing game of the year: Forza Motorsport 3
* RPG of the year: Mass Effect 2
* Puzzle game of the year: World of Goo
* Fighting game of the year: Super Street Fighter 4
* Sports game of the year: FIFA 10
* Strategy game of the year: Plants vs. Zombies
* Music game of the year: Guitar Hero 5
* Online game of the year: League of Legends
* Downloadable game of the year: Plants vs. Zombies
* Portable game of the year: Pokemon Heart Gold/ Soul Silver
* Soundtrack of the year: Final Fantasy XIII
* One to watch: Call of Duty: Black Ops
* UK Developer of the year: Jagex
* Ultimate game of the year: Mass Effect 2
So yeah, ME2 did pretty well this year! I was really hoping we'd snag OST of the year, but as Mr. Wingless said, there's really no shame in losing to Mitsuda. Thanks so much to all of you who did vote for it though, I'm still excited to be involved in a game that was even nominated for a music award! All in all, I think these results look pretty well, glad to see titles like World of Goo and SSF4 etc getting some love.

A most appropriate use of Monstrous Turtles.

Yeah, the keyswitches can't hurt, you probably wont need to use more than 1 or 2 at a time but yeah, once you get used to them you'll find it a lot easier to play stuff on a keyboard as well as sequence a more realistic performance.
-
Not bad. First of all, remember that as is the case with most people who actually play the instrument that they hear being sequenced electronically, it's going to be harder to fool them than your average joe-schmo casual listener. So if a guitarist or other listener with a more highly evolved ear tells you that they can tell that it's not a "real recording" or whatever, it's not always the end of the world
That being said, listening to your first example, I'd say the first thing you can do is to humanize your performance the same way you would any other faux-organic instrument. Adjust the timing here and there so it doesn't sound quite so perfect and quantized. Maybe make some notes overlap just a bit--most guitarists would agree that it's pretty difficult to have the other 5 strings remain completely silent the ENTIRE time while you're playing one note. Second, be sure to make use of all the awesome and handy features that Realstrat has to offer. Slides, bends, hammer-ons, modulation, etc. And perhaps just a tiny bit of wetness on top of all that won't hurt either (subtle delay or reverb are usually best).
Hope that helps.
-
Realstrat + a good amp plugin will get you about as close to a real guitar as anything will. I use it all the time. It's not 100% perfect, but it's passable.
Can you post an example of your work?
-
I ask, nay, I demand, DEMAND sir, that you eat some cake and have a great day.

Speaking of big plugs for OCR!

Indeed, very cool! Was gonna post this yesterday, sorry
. Update the OP.

Whoops, I meant Gario. Mah bad
-
Welcome! Lotta sfx work, that's cool! SFX are a crucial part of the game, and I've always thought it would be fun to work on them.
I just stumbled on to your Mirror's Edge photo shoot yesterday -- good stuff!Just checked 'em out, indeed, they're pretty rad.
Oh wow!! Not every day you get a composer coming on to the site.I would just like to remind you that we have hundreds of composers that visit the site
Anyway, as Roz said, we'd love for you to submit a remix!

-
So I just heard this as this week's credit music for Sephfire's Extra Creditz video and while I'm sure I've heard it before cycling through my OCR playlist I never paid it any particular mind. So I did now, and it rocks. Very groovy, love the beat, the synth work, and the pseudo-guitar thing.

Do you have it for Steam or for 360? If you have it for Steam, go to Borderlands, right-click and pick "view game CD key". I just checked mine and, sure enough, I have the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club key! WOOHOO!
Nice, dude, it is indeed in there. Thanks mang!
-
I enjoyed Borderlands enough to have faith that the game will be decent. I preordered B-lands before it came out though, I feel like I should have a free pass lol. (Though I only own 2 of the DLC so far)
-
There's quite an influx of newbies b/c of the sale, and it seems a lot of 'em are jumping straight into vs without a decent sense of gameplay and proper teamwork. Half funny, half irritating. Depends on which team they're on

So does anyone have any idea what the "surprises" are yet?
There was supposed to be a surprise Monday, but it got pushed to today.
From http://www.l4d.com/blog/post.php?id=4433
The big surprise today is… there is no surprise and no that isn’t one of Gabe’s three surprises. We have moved today’s surprise to Wednesday. -
From the same page:
Since this is the L4D2 thread, I assume he's asking about L4D2 which will be released today, not L4D (which won't).
Ah, good observation. I've sort of blended the two together without meaning to
Also, I'm DLing the updates now. Woo!
-
RELEASE THEM FOR MAC ALREADY! It's the 5th you valvey bastards.Sorry Left 4 Dead owners, the Mac version is coming but we are running a little late. We hope to have it out in time to celebrate Halloween on the Mac. When released, L4D1 Mac players will receive the same great treatment. All the previous released updates and DLC for free and the ability to play an extensive library of community content. More information on the release date as it nears.
sorry broseph

1:12 PM - BGC: I bet people won't be able to start DLing the game until 9-10 eastern
1:12 PM - BGC: then the servers will get overwhelmed
1:12 PM - BGC: steam will crash
1:12 PM - BGC: the game won't be actually PLAYABLE until tomorrow I bet
That's basically my prediction of release
-
Not that this actually answers your question, but I just wanted to throw out a reminder that "composers/arrangers" are often (and sadly) not the copyright owners.
The nadir of music
in General Discussion
Posted
haha, I love that dude's stuff. Been following him since the "Upular" remix.
Larry's video wins.
The guys in the OP's video are huge tools, I think that's their major selling point. It's like shock rock for the new kids. Everyone's trying to get noticed and be original these days, it's really no surprise that people make music that awful. One day we actually will hear death metal + polka + autotune + electric slide guitar + orchestra hits + chimpunk vocals and a rap breakdown all in one, and someone will be serious about it, and the same discussion will happen for their video.
