not surprised that dhsu beat me to the bs inc. joke. happy birthday really late anyways.
-
yes, just like those people were 'only cheating a little' in wow. that article even says that blizzard tells you not to use third party programs, or you run the risk of being banned. so i am not sure how you get to be surprised when you use third party programs, and get banned
-
they've had this in WoW for *years*. The guys who are 'totally innocent, i swear', and get banned, and then someone digs up that they were actually 'just hacking a little' or 'i just let my friend use my account, and HE must have done it' or something.

am i the only one that plays really late? like 2 am central? i get off work around 9:45, spend a little time with my girlfriend and then come home, and it always seems to be way late before i feel like playing.

Humans and Games: my new blog about game design and culture
Scrobble replied to ella guro's topic in General Discussion
oh, cool, you got it going. -
unfortunately, the practice league ultimately will not give you any sort of applicable skills for the real game, as the maps are changed to have more destructible objects, and i also believe the game speed is lowered. Everyone loses a ton when they start out. If you can accept that (or at the very least just take a break after some dork cannon rushes you), then sc2 will be a lot of fun. but skip the practice league.

it's incredibly amazingly ridiculously important to not get stuck on the concept or even the word 'counter'. obviously something that can't shoot upwards will be beat by an air unit, but battles don't take place in a vacuum, and thinking about 'counters' will lead you to say "oh i see he has x, and y 'counters' it so i should make y" but that's not super useful when you really needed a good mix of units to start with

not that i know of, but people are idling and sometimes talking in #ocrsc
-
the best thing in the galaxy is the feeling you get after someone 6 pools you, you hold off their first set of lings, and then have 3 or 4 zealots at their front door. Bonus points if they call you a faggot before they ragequit. also: Use the irc channel! i know nobody's in there, but if people start idling, it will pick up steam.
-
very few people use it now, but i'm hoping that will change if i post here: #ocrsc on etg! if people actually come and use the channel, it might be a cool thing to have.

After a small bit of an interest check in the main sc2 thread, i decided to start a seperate thread to plan a small tournament. Details/rules/guidelines: 6 to 8 people, probably. I'm open to suggestions on these or other rules, but i was currently thinking best of three, loser picks map, and each player gets to veto one map from the pool. I'd have to actually look up all the map names again, but it's likely that any 2 or 4 player map aside from the novice ones would be in the pool. I think we can all work out among ourselves when the best time to play matches would be. Ideally, you'd play all three at once (if necessary). If it ends up that your first game is an hour long or something, i'm sure nobody would care if you postponed until the next day. save your replays in some standard format where it's clear who is playing who, and what game # it is, like Scrobble_vs_someguy_game1, so everyone can watch the matches afterward if they want. please please please don't rage and be a bad sport. friendly trash talk is one thing, but keep it within reason. with that out of the way, please post here if you have interest, and give me these pieces of information. 1. battle.net character name and character code (found by hovering over your avatar picture in the top corner) or email if you don't care about people adding your email. 2. current 1v1 placement rank. I'd like to not have super pro gosu diamond players against a guy whose first sc2 match was the day after release. but that shouldn't stop either of those people from signing up! 3. some way for people to contact you off the forums. AIM/msn/yahoo etc. any suggestions, comments, etc, let me know! gl, hf!

it seems like there's a fair amount of interest, so i'm going to start a thread to get it more organized, and not hijack this one.
-
different skill levels is not really a problem unless there's one person that's just ridiculously better than everyone else. So far i can only really count one person that's expressed any interest though.
-
Figured i'd post here instead of making a new thread about it. Would anyone at all be interested in a sc2 tournament? if we got 6-8 people it could be pretty enjoyable.

scrobble - 878 i've been tearing through the single player right now though.

you are obviously a rather talented artist, and now i want to get a tetris necklace made for my girlfriend, but i'm still sort of weirded out.
