I've been missing from the forums lately posting but I've been lurking listening mostly still! Anyway I just finished up a mixtape dedicated to the Nintendo GameCube which I released today on my little brother’s birthday to remind him how I will always destroy him at any GameCube game. Synopsis: “Join 1-UP in the second installment of “Nerdcore Emulation Station” (NES 2) as he teams up with party collect star sprites and free the GameCube from the Imagidrain army. Party Members: (Mega Ran, Sammus, Lex Lingo, Xavier Woods, Richie Branson, Shubzilla, Eye.Q, SkyBlew, Press B, TYT, MC Ohm-I, Shammers, W!SE, Force of Will and MC JB) Venture through 8 stages filled with plot twists as they collect the star sprites and free Kadesh Flow from the Imagidrain king’s mind control spell.” Here is the link to check it out! So, this song is the first part of a *hopefully* ongoing series of videos called Gear Spotlight, where I write a new song for each video using only one part of my electronic setup. For the first video, I wanted to challenge myself, so I picked the mono-synth with no preset functionality. I wasn't sure whether to post this or not as I have a feeling its probably one of those sources that has been done many many times, but fuk it. Archangel inspired me to do some orchestral arrangements and I thought I'd kick it off with a source I truly love. Its really early days. Some things I'm aware that need altering: The string sequencing at the start Trumpets at 00:44 need some more humanizing I need to actually learn the guitar part properly Write a drum part that doesn't loop Mixing at 1:51 needs cleaning up as it gets a bit too busy 2:15 onwards is just a skeleton arrangement. Need to flesh it out. I shared one of my new videos a few weeks ago, and was encouraged to put more of my own spin on a song, and so with this song, I decided to do just that. I wanted to keep the idea of slow building the layers going, at least at first. As with last time, everything was crafted from scratch. All sequences were hand entered, no midi (other than a clock) was used.
