Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other)

  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqh-sx-bqEo Let me know what you guys think if its a good beginning and ofc critizism is welcome, i have alot to learn.
  2. This one started life as an original called "Victoria's Cove"...but then I started experimenting with the Kakariko Village theme in it, and it just seemed to fit after a few chord tweaks. It's annoying when that happens unfortunately...lol Done on iPad + GarageBand, and not finished yet https://app.box.com/s/omr33gjhk8z7ur01h8g7 Not even sure iPad submissions would be accepted, as GB iPad has a limited amount of stuff in it.
  3. Go ahead and check the "Too Conservative" box if you're not into exact replicas. I enjoy learning and playing these video game tunes as an instrumentalist for the purpose of developing my melodic repertoire, as well as developing as a sound engineer (yes, I know I suck). Lastly, I just enjoy hearing the songs get an "update", as it were.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7fgAGJrdSQ Wizard & Warrior - Wizard Form Figuring out what genre it would fit in ^^ there is pretty much potential in the Wizard & Warrior nes songs.
  5. It's still a doodle at this point, plenty to fix up. Especially sine I've not truly sat down yet to actually apply effort into EQ-ing/Mastering yet. ANYWAYS, this is my first true attempt at the genre Hardstyle. Probably something that's never been seen here on OCR before, or at least not in a long time most likely. I think I will try to work with different lead synths because while these three layer nice enough, I don't think this has a very "Full" sound yet... then again any help on how to get that would be appreciated it along with any other feedbaack~! :3 Original Source: Remix Preview/WIP: http://tindeck.com/listen/zlza Note: I had to cut it off there for this version as I'm developing the other part that is to come in at the moment and will respond to any suggestions too for this part
  6. Hey guys! I know...I already have a WIP ReMix, but I'm not going to finish it (so go ahead and delete it). This one, however, is for REAL. It's a jazz ReMix, but I'm also going to have it be a live recording, of a jazz combo of the same name. So anyways, to the links! https://soundcloud.com/touchsoundmusic-1/possible-remix-bosses-of-nova The two songs I'm using are "New Wave Bossa Nova"(Majora's Mask) and "Song of Storms."(Ocarina of Time) Please, I'm an amateur, so any critique is helpful!
  7. Hey guys, Could use some feedback. This just got rejected on the judges panel (http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45785) and as much as I'd like to resubmit it with a few changes. I don't have the original source file anymore since . My only option is to rebuild start from scratch, but before I do that, i'd like to know what the biggest problems are. I feel that if I do this again, I should focus on getting the right samples. should be easy enough, but since I know nothing on music theory I'm having a bit of trouble understanding some of the judge's feedback. What exactly is soundfield and how would one make it deeper? What is roomsound? How can I make this less two dimensional, should I try experimenting with balance and reverb? Original songs: Main theme: Lith Harbor: https://soundcloud.com/vortigon/maple-syrup
  8. SOURCE: As always, it's free. Anybody think it'll make the cut? -----JourneyJay's My Gerudo----- From the title: "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" 1998 https://soundcloud.com/journeyjay/my-gerudo
  9. a quick orchestrated version of the pokemon RSE route 104 theme. Feel free to give your remarks ps : just for fun, I'm not submitting this to OCR I know it's not what they like since it's just the same theme and there is no variations.
  10. Hey everyone, The range and diversity of skills on ocremix always amazes me - but I'm looking for something - don't really know what yet but I am in need of aid for this project. old: https://soundcloud.com/lukebarden/smw-castle-wip/s-iWq8T updated: https://soundcloud.com/lukebarden/monstawrs-in-da-castle/s-Ua8B8 Does anyone have some experience mixing these bass heavy + fast tempo kinds of tunes? I struggle off and on with arrangement but that seems to take care of itself. However, my ears are in the dark when it comes to the mix approach of this genre. I'd be open to the idea of sharing this project as a collaboration and any suggestions you may have with the subtle problems of dnb / neurofunk that you see related to my project. That being said, are there any neurofunk remixes/artists on ocremix? Peace, Luke
  11. I grew up on OCR music as much as the game music it's based on, and this is my first WiP track posted here. None of the existing Perfect Dark mixes tickle my fancy, here or anywhere, and that's always bugged me. Krispy did a great job with his music for the PD Source team, but his tracks all veer pretty far off the original style. I'd like to contribute an interpretation a little closer to the original. https://xenmen.bandcamp.com/album/alone-with-joanna-dark
  12. I haven't posted anything here in a while! This is the track I made for round 2 of SZRC, mixing Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2 and Sky Road Zone 2 from Sonic Lost World. I wanted to make something funky! Link: https://soundcloud.com/jnwake/sonic-2-sonic-lost-world-sonic I want to polish the mixing and fix some mistakes (there's a mistimed note near the end ) so I'm interested in your feedback!
  13. Hi! So this is a very early/short WIP/attempt. I have a tried a couple of things but nothing that i liked. Any feedback is appreciated. I'm realising that i don't know my DAW very much. Particular things that i would like to know are : how the composition sounds, are the samples used of mediocre/bad/good quality. What you like and don't like about it. I know it's short and very close to the source. My attempt Thanks for your time.
  14. Hey guys, this is my work in progress ReMix called Elegy of Kings. It is still very beta, and instrumentation is bound to change. Currently it's 2 pianos and a pan flute. Any and all comments would be helpful! Sources: (Farewell Hyrule King) (Midna's Theme) Elegy of Kings: https://soundcloud.com/touchsoundmusic-1/elegy-of-kings-updated-wip Enjoy!
  15. These are my first attempts at chiptune but don't let that hold you back on giving it some serious critique. I'd love any advice I can get. The last song is a remix and not my original. https://soundcloud.com/jason-b/sets/chip-attempts
  16. So... lately I have been working on a kind of dance track version of Castlevania's Vampire Killer song with some nice retro bleeps and (an attempt at) complextro basslines in it. The track needs some polishing but is near to being finished. I would really appreciate some feedback to make it the best track I can Without further ado: Remix: http://www.jorito.net/files/Vampire%20Killer/Vampire%20Killer%2020140220.mp3 Original: (PS: I still need a name for this track. Apparently all my creativity went into the music so I'm a bit dumb struck atm. Any suggestions? )
  17. I just recently bought a USB microphone and can finally FINALLY play all my instruments together! I plan on doing a bunch of similar songs from different games, and hope to submit at least one of them and try and get it on the site (I'm working on a Stickerbrush Symphony as well). Anyway, In this track I'm playing guitar, ukulele, ocarina, my bamboo flute (that I made myself!), high and low Irish penny whistles, as well as bodhran and a cheap bean-filled practice pad from when I was in the 6th grade hahaha. I'm probably adding a trashy sounding tambourine once I find one, or at least some shakers of some sort. I do plan on doing more arranging of course, and it will definitely sound more clean and more interesting once I can sit down, write some things out, practice, etc. But for now I'm just posting the very first recording just to throw out the instrumentation for some basic feedback/suggestions. I haven't done much with effects/mixing, since I'm just using audacity and really don't have a clue how to work most of the features. http://picosong.com/YxU4 -----my track http://youtu.be/5W_bFLwB0WY ----source
  18. Ok this was a last min remix made with the sole purpose of finally trying to mix vocals into my parody/remixes. Sadly I am with out vocal prowess(love that word) and needed someone who can freestyle over the track. Look at this track as built for the main attraction to be the person who is rapping with a little humor in the middle section so it's not too serious. The blips and chips are simply a reminder of the roots of the game. Seriously Im going to go back to this point, this is a vocal-centric( probably not gonna win me too many friends) and should be viewed in such a light. 19. Ok so after realizing that I am not cut for the type of music I tried to make with my Shock Troopers mix, I took a swing at a techno song. The first techno mix I did was a simple arrangement of memories of puyo from puyo puyo 1. Everyone I played that to said it was really good, so I decided to try something more. What I have here is the basic outline of a panic puppet ReMix. I really want to make sure it is great before I submit this one. So please tell t.hings I should add, remove, improve, anything to make it sound good. Thanks http://m.soundcloud.com/dantesubicus/club-panic
  20. Source: Mix: http://picosong.com/YBe9/ New to remixing, so I don't really intend on submitting this anywhere, although I would love to learn how to make this mix better. I know this source has been done to death although it is quite simple to work with and also sounds amazing so it was a good place to start remixing. Any criticism, good/bad/whatever, is welcome because this is all a learning curve for me. Thanks in advance!
  21. Lately I have been working on a medley with music from Space Manbow, which is a classic game for the MSX by Konami in the Gradius series. The song is a rock/pop/symphonic mixture and contains 2 songs (the first level song and the intro song, in that order). I'm considering submitting it to ocremix after lurking around for ages, but some feedback would be highly appreciated before I do that! The song: https://soundcloud.com/jorito/beyond-the-battleship References to the original songs:
  22. This is actually a new arrangement of an old song of mine. Very different and only in good ways. Just got to a good point in working on this song to upload it and let people have a listen. Still an early WIP but it's going well. Unfortunately Soundcloud lowers my sound quality a bit but I still think it sounds fine for getting a little feedback https://soundcloud.com/brad-charles/you-shall-go-no-further-boss Made using the VSTs that I can afford on my budget - Miroslav Philharmonik, SampleTank, EZDrummer guitars recorded using PODFarm
  23. Mad Sometimes electronic, aggressive, fast Can anyone guess the what the title is referencing? Question, I use Battery and sometimes I layer drum sounds by clicking on a cell and choosing "add sample" a few times. Sometimes, all the sounds don't play, especially when I try programming quick notes. I'm not sure why that is, does anyone know? Any tips on how to humanize the snare sound a bit? Thanks and enjoy (hopefully)
  24. Ok so this right here is my 2nd (see what I did there) ReMix that I did for the sake of people hearing it (the first is up on youtube). I am pretty proud of this song, though it was a pain to figure where what should go where, etc. I mark it as finished because I have submitted it for evaluation by the judges. Since I expect to have it turned down, please feel free to tell me ways I can improve it. Link: https://soundcloud.com/dantesubicus/heroes-of-shock Thank you and have a nice day/night d0s-OmEga8
  25. I have to thank Timaeus222 for giving me such critical feedback on my tracks. I am starting to look a little closer at smaller details which create the bigger picture. So here is Street Fighter II Theme I am working on. I am not sure what else it needs though. (Constructive Criticism Wanted) https://soundcloud.com/schematist/street-fighter-ii-vega-theme
