3. completed Mega Man 2 - Metalwave (Metal Man's theme)
MartinH posted a topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
https://youtu.be/lhpri7saOwU Remix of Metal Man theme from Mega Man 2 released on christmas eve 1988 for Nintendo (NES) I really felt like doing something from an old classic Mega Man game. The choice landed on Metal Man's theme from Mega Man 2! The original is a real banger indeed! So what was I thinking during the creation of this one, well... I thought: "something funky, something bangy, something ambient, something beautiful, something cool, combined with some of that nostalgia and memories". Can't go wrong. But something did go wrong for sure, after I finished the transcription of the original parts everything went blank. My imagination and ideas were totally gone. Lucky me, it only lasted for a day, but that's way too long for me since I've got so little time doing this. Oh man, I wish one day were like 28 hours instead of 24, would be so amazing to have more time for this. Something new I learned doing this remix: I will not listen to the song to be remixed for several hours before writing it. I think my ideas got more narrow because of that, not making enough room for improvisation and taking a step or two outside the box. The hardest part of this song: definitely the bass. I didn't have any problems but it was the hardest part for sure. I could go in so many directions and got stuck several times writing bass lines that was the exact same as in other remixes of mine. I hope you dig the beats I created here, and that you're reliving some sweet memories of playing this game. This is the 2nd or 3rd most played Mega Man game for me, after Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 3. Take care folks! /Neon X -
Hello, I got inspired to try to make a fairly long and varying remix of such a short theme as Heat Man’s is. I’ve been working on this for some months now and I feel it’s time to get some feedback on it. The composition, instrumentation, and balancing are done, and that is what I would like to get some feedback on first. I haven’t done any EQ, compression, or adding any effects like reverb and delay yet. Please let me know what you think about it, looking forward to hearing your feedback! NEW VERSION BELOW!

This is a remix I made of Mega Man 2. I used Winamp plugins to isolate each individual instrument from both the NES and Genesis versions of the game, then I mixed it all together. Some effects such as reverb, distortion, and pitch shifting were used as well. I hope you like it! Part 1: Title Screen, Main Theme, Stage Select, Air Man, Bubble Man, Wood Man, Quick Man Part 2: Crash Man and Heat Man mashup Part 3: Metal Man and Flash Man Part 4: Dr Wily Stage 1 and a huge mashup of all songs

The original version of this song, as you may be aware is very uptempo. Does it work as a slower, "jazz lounge" sort of piece? Realistically, I'm probably done with this piece in particular, but I am looking to hear what people think the major flaws are, and what sorts of things should I be thinking about to improve in future works. I know music theory is a weakness -- I mostly go with what sounds good to me (but I guess I don't have a perfect ear?). Also, I only actually play sax, so I think that I'm probably doing all sorts of incorrect/odd things with the VSTis for piano, drums, vibraphones, or bass.
