lazygecko
For those who missed what's been going on, MGM bought the rights for Robocop and announced that they are creating a remake. It is currently set to be ready some time in 2010. Recently this promo poster surfaced: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8651/rc20102et2.jpg What's interesting is the targeted demographic, meaning we won't get any toned down kiddy shit like Robocop 3 or the TV series. What's also been revealed is that the possible director for the film is Darren Aronofsky, whoms track record includes Pi, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain. Poke'G
With the latest in Frank Miller matierial hitting the screen, I'm wondering if the famous Frank Miller's Robocop will get screen treatment. I'm also a bit worried about how they'll choose to do him. I'm hoping they don't opt out of the real live suit option.
The Coop
Robocop 3 was a successful sequel?
Shadow Wolf
I love the honesty. Obviously not a press poster. It's like, "We're remaking a movie, and you too can make a FUCKTON of money riding this bandwagon."
lazygecko
It's from a licensing expo in New York.

Raziellink
Robocop 3 was a successful sequel? My thoughts exactly! The franchise grossed more then 170 million worldwide? Probably mostly thanks to the first part....
Strike911
lol, yeah, I wonder how that 170 million is divided up between the 3 movies. Is there anywhere to get that data online? edit: Wikipedia has everything, n/m
EdgeCrusher
As long as its as violent and semi dark as the first movie, possibly as good as the director's cut, I'll watch it.
Dyne
As long as its as violent and semi dark as the first movie, possibly as good as the director's cut, I'll watch it. If Tim Burton directed this film, Robocop would be a brooding, dark mess of a revived dead cop, out for revenge.

Zombie
I have strange memories of seeing these movies as a child... ...And zombie robocop definitely wins indeed.
EdgeCrusher
A robocop needs two things. The "I'd buy that for a dollar" guy. And Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker saying "Bitches.... leave".
MechaFone
No Robocop vs The Last Unicorn ideas? Maybe Zombie Robocop Rides The Last Unicorn? Again?

Three things: ED-209, in all its inept glory. Can't forget ED.
lazygecko
Aronofsky confirmed as director, not 3D CGI, most likely R-rated, ex-Orion people involved with project
Toadofsky
If Tim Burton directed this film, Robocop would be a brooding, dark mess of a revived dead cop, out for revenge. "I'LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!!!"

Sinewav
"I'LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!!!" that's what she said roffle This actually looks like it has the chance to be a decent remake. It would be cool if they stayed more true to the Frank Miller version than the original did... unlikely, but cool. Still, unless the previews really suck, Hollywood has probably made another 9 bucks off of me.
Poke'G
Man, news regarding this just keeps getting better. I hope they keep Robocop's theme.
Guy In Rubber Suit
Well I feel better that it's going to be a reimaginning and not a remake. I hope it keeps some of the satire that Paul Verhoeven put into the original. I'm causiously optimistic about this film.
Strike911
I wonder if they're going to keep the classic RoboCop look or redesign it. Hmm.
