Geoffrey Taucer
I just found these lying around on my hard drive. These are some of my earliest mixes. They suck BADLY. So I thought I'd share them for lulz, and perhaps to encourage n00bs by demonstrating that it's ok if they suck, because we all sucked when we started (except for assholes like sixto and CPac) http://www.geoffreytaucer.com/wips/sonicice.mp3 (yes, it's icecap zone) http://www.geoffreytaucer.com/wips/zeal.mp3 (yes, it's corridors of time) EDIT: Another of my earlier ones, courtesy of skrypnyk: http://www.geoffreytaucer.com/wips/poochy.mp3 (poochy's theme from Tetris Attack -- sucks slightly less than the other two)
Skrypnyk
no poochy on acid?
Geoffrey Taucer
HAHA! DO you still have that one? I couldn't find it. If you have it, send it my way and I'll add it to the first post.
HoboKa
Funily enough, I actually enjoyed these mixes. If this is your cream of the crap GT, then you must shit golden nuggets, cuz this stuff isn't all that bad lolz. Good first mixes
LuketheXjesse
http://www.geoffreytaucer.com/wips/poochy.mp3 (poochy's theme from Tetris Attack -- sucks slightly less than the other two) This sounds like a DarkeSword song. The other two are bad because of cheezy samples. Also where's the acoustic guitar??
TheHands
Funny, these don't really suck. Not your usual stuff that we're used to, but un-sucktastic. Edit: Okay, Corrodors of Time wasn't so good. That first one wasn't bad though, and the third one isn't beyond repair if you wanted to revamp the old stuff down the line.
halc
they suck even worse than i thought they would
SoulinEther
My question to you is: what prior experience did you have when you made these? I mean obviously they're not great but there are worse things that come up in the WIP forum... I'm not sure you've quite achieved your goal, lol. Geoffrey Taucer
My question to you is: what prior experience did you have when you made these? I'd been sequencing midis in NoteWorthy composer for a year or two before these; these were all made with modplug tracker. I mean obviously they're not great but there are worse things that come up in the WIP forum... I'm not sure you've quite achieved your goal, lol. This sounds like a DarkeSword song. ROFL The other two are bad because of cheezy samples. Also where's the acoustic guitar?? This was before I learned to play guitar. Come to think of it, my initial post wasn't quite accurate: I think these are actually my second, third, and fourth attempts at remixing. I still haven't been able to find my first (which got direct-rejected, and never made it to the judges panel)
djpretzel
I think Keyboard Cat needs to play the ice cap mix off Thanks for sharing, this was fun. Also, I wouldn't feel too bad... at least you don't have anything like this on the site. I have to live with the pain of my Contra and SingingPretzel mixes for eternity - omgsobad, indeed. BlackPanther
I think Keyboard Cat needs to play the ice cap mix off Rofl. I will agree with SoulinEther though, some of those still sound better than what you get here sometimes and that doesn't really make for a good example but everyone has to start somewhere. I didn't use compressors or anything during my nub years so everything was upfront and clipping like a pair of hungry scissors and I'd rather not go back to that time xD. Nabeel Ansari
This sounds like a DarkeSword song. The other two are bad because of cheezy samples. Also where's the acoustic guitar?? It's more like the EARLIER Darkesword's style.

TheKrow
Rofl, I think I have the same shitty horn sample from "Corridors of Time" laying around my hard drive somewhere...

Geoffrey Taucer
Rofl, I think I have the same shitty horn sample from "Corridors of Time" laying around my hard drive somewhere... I sampled it myself (from my shitty radioshack keyboard)! I was quite proud of that.

This made me laugh...hehe. Geoff...this stuff isn't that bad, it isn't that great either though. Ur recent remix with mephisto = great stuff. Nabeel Ansari
I like the style. It's nice and cool. I don't know, I guess you could call this genre of music "Chill"? Hehe let's give the world a new genre called Chill music! (Not to be confused with chillout)
DarkeSword
There's already a genre of music called "Chill."
JJT
MIDI COUNTERATTACK (early MIDI remixes I did as a teenager) http://championvinyl.net/ff9.mid http://championvinyl.net/Frogstheme.mid (this one is particularly bad) http://championvinyl.net/midi/finalfantasy6_overture.mid Rejected version of Enter the Frog circa 2002 http://championvinyl.net/midi/enter_frog_wip.MP3 sloppy, sloppy execution all around
Subz1987
I was enjoying that Corridor of Time remix before the French Horn sample started playing. The sensation was like enjoying a piece of pie but then realizing moments later that it was rotten right before you vomited. Also, were you remixing Day of Summer in the Ice Cap zone remix? Cause parts of it definitely sounded like Day of Summer
