RETROMAN
Hi folks! I really enjoy listening to those uplifting 80's rock songs (you know, the kind of songs that were often used for training montages), especially when they feature some nice synthesizer sounds. Since a lot of music buffs frequent these messageboards, I decided to ask you guys if you know any songs/bands I should check out. Any suggestions? This is the kind of music I'm searching for (I've left out the obvious ones like Europe and Survivor): John Farnham - The Quiet Ones You Gotta Watch John Farnham - Nothin's Gonna Stand In Our Way Glenn Frey - You Belong To The City Manfred Mann's Earth Band - The Runner I'd also like to know if this kind of music was still being made AFTER the 80's, and if there are any bands in existence that still produce this kind of sound. Thanks in advance!
Matt E. Waldman
Hey Retroman! I listen to a lot of 80s music, but it isn't quite along the lines you are looking for(very synthy, but more edgy rather than uplifting). Here are a couple that could probably fit in, though: David Bowie - Loving The Alien: Huey Lewis and The News - The Power of Love:

Meteo Xavier
Who the hell suggested Money for Nothing? If you're going to go Dire Straits and keyboard, you need WALK OF LIFE. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_lfqKbOvTk Also, and God forgive for this cheese marathon, but also consider this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY2WxSNuU_8

The Coop
Neither of these are 80s, but they fit the bill in many ways because they have an early 80s feel and sound to them... Don't Bring Me Down - Electric Light Orchestra
Monobrow
hell yes to ELO and Mr. Mister
Flare4War
Bryan Adams is an obvious one. Belinda Carlisle probably has some stuff up your ally. Roxette is late 80's early 90's but they have a very 80's sound and I've always enjoyed them.
