DarkeSword
No, we don't need reality TV like this.

Schwaltzvald
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Why are we calling it reality TV? Because it's utilizing actual tools who are classified as "humans" who got nothing better to do. Seriously Sony you could have actually worked on making all PS3's compatible with your old PS2 library via patch or hardware update/trade-in instead but noooo it had to go with this shit. Arcana
The teaser video made me cringe. I merely sighed when I saw "Survivor: Heroes and Villains" appear on TV as a commercial, but I think that Survivor's almost more acceptable to me because the ultimate goal is just cash. It's not a job or anything like this is.

Sporknight
I present Penny Arcade's opinion on the matter: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/1/25/ Not too reassuring for somebody seriously considering QA with a major game developer as a career path, but from what I hear a majority of testing jobs (games industry or no) are like this. DarkeSword
Gameshows didn't run for 45 minutes. Arcana, they're gameshows. There are contestants competing for a prize. The contestants are just persistent and turned into characters.

Got me a sweet $65 out of them bets back then...Nick Arcade HOLY SHIT DID THIS SHOW EVER MAKE ME RAGE AT HOW UTTERLY STUPID THEY WERE. Where's the fun these days..? BardicKnowledge
Gameshows didn't run for 45 minutes. The Price is Right runs for an hour, and is still better than 99% of reality TV.

"Fun game.... but people like story, too!" So they mashed up the game with the story with the characters and ta-da! Reality TV!

Good God, what happened to filling out an application to get a fucking job? I think being a video game tester might sound like fun, but if I have to go through all this bullshit, its not worth it imo.
Arcana
I groaned when that guy was like, "She's attractive. AND she plays games? That's a double win." or whatever. It's no wonder gamer stereotypes don't go away - it's because, like it or not, so many of the gamers are actually like that.

K.B.
Right. Anyone who was actually interested in pursuing (their fantastical notion of) the job has already investigated it and had their hopes dashed. Doing a show about it is moronic. Edit: I guess that's not what the show is about at all. Just your usual run-of-the-mill 'reality' crap. Nevermind. Remember when reality shows were called gameshows? Back when we were wild and crazy kids?
noTuX
Really? I know you'd probably have to play some stupid game over and over to look for bugs, but is it really THAT bad?

Arcana
I keep hearing stories about how game testing sucks, but there seems to be no shortage of people who want to go into it... so good for game companies.
