Powerlord Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 A required update for Team Fortress 2 is now available. This is also an optional update for Counter-Strike: Source. The specific changes include: Dedicated Servers (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2) - Fixed a case where servers would lock-up while writing .dmp files. Team Fortress 2 - Fixed a bug in the Steamworks internal stats reporting. I'm installing now and will restart servers when it's finished.
Cinderwild Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 August: Month of the tiny ninja updates that don't really pertain to anything.
Powerlord Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 August: Month of the tiny ninja updates that don't really pertain to anything. Now if only they'd fix the Simple Disguise Kit's Team Change key, I'd be happy.
phill Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 screw fake crits, I want TF2 to stop kicking me to my desktop at random.
Bleck Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 dont worry guys theyll fix fake crits wait is this a real thing so I'm not crazy after all!
atmuh Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 been happening since the game launched yup bleck
ParanoidDrone Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 A Team 1 vs. Team 2 scrim is scheduled for 9 PM EST, Friday, September 3. Events have been posted on both Steam groups. We'll be using the Highlander server again, although that's probably obvious.
RussellChamp Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Haha! So I found this video on Reddit depicting the birth of rocket jumping in real life. Enjoy.
ParanoidDrone Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Herp derp time: I can't confirm since I'm away from Steam atm, but I may have accidentally set the time for Group 1's event to be in the morning, not at night. If so...I'm sure there's a way to edit the event. Somehow. I'll take care of it tonight.
bonzai! Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I don't get home from work until after 9pm EST :/ I could probably make one at 9:30 or later, but you should go ahead and sub me out if it can't be pushed back
Powerlord Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Valve moved a second master server from one IP to another. RED, Highlander, CS:S, and L4D2 have been restarted, but BLU is actively in use. I will restart it later. Since each game server is connected to two master servers, it should remain connected even if it has the moved one's old IP address. Although I was under the impression that it defaulted to the time you created the event, so if you created it in the afternoon, it would default to PM.
ParanoidDrone Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Yeah, I just checked and it was set to PM.
Cinderwild Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 The original Highlander Community Challenge post says that the final matches were supposed to be announced on August 29. Does anyone know where that's at? EDIT: Found it. The announcement has been delayed due to how many people have signed up.
ParanoidDrone Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 atmuh if you honestly believe they're going to say "lol no" to literally 2/3 of all the teams that registered then you're off your rocker.
Powerlord Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Another minor TF2 update today. All 3 servers have been restarted. Yeesh, isn't this the third update in a week that says it fixes stats tracking?
atmuh Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 this is what i envision happening ever time i fire the direct hit but it never actually works that way
ParanoidDrone Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Something tells me that's what it was intended for. Except no one uses it because the splash is hideously tiny. Reduced splash damage instead of radius would have worked better for it imo. Maybe increase the knockback to compensate if it's proportional to damage.
atmuh Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 the weapon is fine im just saying i always envision me getting those airshots i just never do

Brushfire Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Not until they nerf it in close range. It will never happen. Cause Valve hates me. And me personally.
Powerlord Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 the weapon is fineim just saying i always envision me getting those airshots i just never do Yeah, about that... didn't Valve nerf it so it only does crits in air if they were thrown into the air by an explosive? At a guess, their own rocket for a rocket jump counts for that...
ParanoidDrone Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Yeah, about that... didn't Valve nerf it so it only does crits in air if they were thrown into the air by an explosive? At a guess, their own rocket for a rocket jump counts for that... Yes and yes. This was mostly because running down stairs and falling down ledges counted as being in the air, so people were getting minicritted left and right. The fix was supposed to make it so it only minicrit on a juggle->airshot, but it doesn't check to see who caused the target to become airborne.
atmuh Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 yes it works for both juggles (you knocking them in the air and hitting them again with rockets) and airshots (you hitting someone after they rocket jump)
