Ginnsu
Dig Dug 'Six Feet Under' One thing I've noticed a lot of artists on this site like to do, is mimic those authentic old school gaming system sounds and then morph the song, add high quality instruments, or sometimes maintain the old school sounds with a re-arranged melodies. That’s one thing that I really love, because to me it brings me back to the things I love most about the systems plus all those memories and nostalgia. It makes me want to go back to those days and play it again, and that’s makes emulators so cool. Back to what I should be talking about, starla’s Dig Dug Mix contains a lot of that old school sound mixed in with some really snazzy drums and a lot of 303. Makes you just want to move, keep up the good work, starla. We got to love ya.
AnotherOneBitesTheDust
Highly amplified noises! Doesn't stray away from Starla's style. Download this if you aren't afraid of video game music, which this actually follows a lot in the "traditional video game music mixing style". None of the samples sound instrumental, sound effects from the game are used, and finally the game over music, which I can already tell it's game over music even though I haven't played the game...why must they all sound the same? Play this in your car really loud if you wanna scare everyone. Just be sure to stay under 100 Decibles! ....Decibals....whatever....sound units! Don't wanna be caught by the police even though the music will probably give you plenty of time to escape from the cops.
Eccles
Hrm... First thing I notice is that its too repetetive. By far. The samples are pretty good, yes, but it sounds like a twenty second loop with little variation throughout. Using the sound effects in time was...well, I think it could have been pulled off a lot better because if Im honest, it got very VERY annoying after a couple of bars. Im also not overly keen on the abrupt ending, though I like what you did with it...with the game over theme and all.
Kamikaze Noodle
This song is really good for sneaking up behind someone and playing in their ear very very loud. other than that, it's too repetitive.
Vash the Stampede
Oh yeah baby!! Freakin awesome sound effects, great variety of clips!!! Excellent job man!!!
Jacquismo
The people who say that this is too repetitive were obviously never fans of Dig Dug. I remember playing it on the 2600 and trying to keep the little guy moving at all times just to listen to the song. It's catchy, and there's plenty of variety, incorporating practically every sound in the game. It stays close to its inspiration, and that makes it great. Nice job. RandomDragoonKain
Beautiful. I get this stuck in my head, but it makes me happy. Slightly repetitive, but in a good way.
Superrpgman
Sorry, but this is yet another remix that I personally found annoying. It makes me wonder if there's a reason that no one else has attempted a dig dug remix. Don't get me wrong, I can certainly see effort here, but it seems like kind of a lost cause. Also, for what it's worth, I'd love for someone to prove me wrong. Consider it a challenge remixers who love Dig Dug
OceansAndrew
I gotta say that even though all the stops are being pulled on making this sound fresh throughout, with melody drop outs, counterpoint, and some beats, but it repeats way too much for me. The synths were pretty nice and the added game effects were cool, but it was too much of the same for me.
Polo
The party percussion has a lovingly intricate startup pattern, which unfortunately is too short and hands the floor to the leads too easily. The leads themselves are an odd match: one moodily sways to and fro and the other shines with a smile that's oblivious to the activity around it. I would've liked a key change somewhere in there, or at least more of the level startup or game over songs (0:02-0:05 and 2:22-2:25 respectively). Still, Dig Dug sure sounds peppy for an underground lurker pumping hot air into fire-breathing Fygars and bug-eyed Pookas.
