Tanianol Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 So, I heard this song on the radio the other day at work. And it is an exact replica of Terra's theme, the vocal version. The chorus, the beginning... and I was so amazed I just had to share it with someone who would understand. Therefore my friends, I bring this to you. And I hope it's not old news or something. "Mexican Heaven" (make sure to listen to the chorus and the beginning). "Terra's Theme" Vocal Do you agree? Quote
DarkeSword Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Never heard this before, but ti's clearly sampled from the Pray version of Terra's theme. :\ Quote
The Vagrance Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Nice find, it seems to be an increasingly common trend for rap artists to use VG samples nowadays. Quote
Bleck Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 quick somebody make a clever joke about Ice Cap Quote
Brandon Strader Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 quick somebody make a clever joke about Ice Cap That's not an Ice Cap, that's my wife Quote
Cyril the Wolf Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Terra apparently endorses Mexican Heaven. That being said... I'M A DUCCCKKKK!!! Quote
Tanianol Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 At least one of them was probably a nerd. Quote
Mirby Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I commented on the video with this: lol Terra's Theme Quote
The Vagrance Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Awww... how dare they. Sampling is more of a compliment than an insult. Quote
Melbu Frahma Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 How DARE they! Someone needs to inform Nobuo Uematsu so he can go all over them. Quote
ZealPath Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 heh, first that Schala one, now this one, that's 2 in a week. FF: Pray is a lot more obscure than CT though, I wonder who gave them the idea to sample that. Quote
Mustin Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Sampling is more of a compliment than an insult. Not sure I'd agree with that, but to each his/her own. Quote
A-RoN Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 rap is evil and SUX Yeah, and we should all listen to country with old beards and no hair. Sampling is more of a compliment than an insult. It really depends on how the sampling is done, enough said. Quote
Rambo Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Most people don't sample something if they think it sounds bad, so it being a compliment makes more sense to me. If someone took your picture, and slapped it all over a graphic and tasteless pornographic film to help sell it, would you be flattered? Quote
The Author Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 If someone took your picture, and slapped it all over a graphic and tasteless pornographic film to help sell it, would you be flattered? Its how I paid for college... I wish. Quote
Brandon Strader Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 If someone took your picture, and slapped it all over a graphic and tasteless pornographic film to help sell it, would you be flattered? Yes. i would Quote
The Vagrance Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I'll try to avoid an argument about sampling and instead post a couple other VG beats/remixes I've heard. Percee P - 2 Brothers from the Gutter (Feat. Diamond D) Oh No - The Ride (Feat. Medaphoar) And for something slightly different: Quote
A-RoN Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 If someone took your picture, and slapped it all over a graphic and tasteless pornographic film to help sell it, would you be flattered? Like I said, it really depends on how the sampling or graphic editing is done. Quote
Melbu Frahma Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 And upon the quality of the pornographic film, too? Quote
Avolii Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Thankfully, I will always remember Terra and not that horrid 'rap'. Good find on that btw. Quote
