Less Ashamed Of Self
Ok, the ultimate in nerdy VGM thread topics: Have you ever heard any pop/mainstream/commercial music and thought: "Oh my god, the arrangement, the instrumentation, if you just took out the vocals that'd be a perfect overworld theme." or Title Screen theme or Boss theme or Dungeon theme This happens to me on a semi-regular basis but of course, now that I bring it up I can only think of some weak examples: Gorrilaz - Melancholy Hill = End Credits Anyone else do this? Charlie's Angel
- The Brazillian by Genesis. I always thought this sounded like videogame music.

yangfeili
I think this would be a great theme for a first enemy-free puzzle-centric dungeon: And then at the end, you revisit the first dungeon and open a deeper level, which is the final dungeon:
Iggy Koopa
Throughout, this sounds a lot like the cave music in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island:

Darlos9D
A couple of Epica songs I always thought would be great for some pivotal battles in a strategy RPG. Such as this one: This one I picture being set to an assault on the capital of some desert country. Here's a track from the Haibane Renmei OST that I always imagined being set to some weird asian-style city: I actually don't even remember how it was used in the show. Monobrow
Definitely has some secret of mana undertones. i can also hear some FF3 in there too. Invisible Touch also has this crazy Secret of Mana type part in it. I love it.
ocre
I think this would be a great theme for a first enemy-free puzzle-centric dungeon: Reminds me of Chrono Cross (Shadow's End Forest) or something. It would be a great forest theme!-- Not so much the song but this bass melody from reminds me of something I'd want to hear from a Contra-type game. Throughout, this sounds a lot like the cave music in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island: SORT of... Really messed up vid. There's some good music in this thread in general, and anime music is almost like cheating.
