The Original is always better

I feel like there a ton of people who think covering The Beatles is sacrilege, but I think that's stupid.

It's a funny thing you brought up the Beatles, because I thought

did one of the greatest acapella tracks I ever heard with their take on "Come Together". For the record I can also throw in
and
but nothing beats their Beatles effort IMO.

I also thought Machinae Supremacy did a much better take on

- seemed to feel so much more uplifting given the song's context.

And Brandon Strader's mentioning of Children of Bodom's Britney cover similarly made me think of

. Don't get me wrong, I love Poison's original just as much, but with a line like "At the drive-in, in grandma's wheelchair", you just can't help but smile, to be sure.

Even though he was a decent songwriter, I don't like Kurt Cobain's singing voice. I just don't like it. It's moany, droney, and it paved the way for Nickelback and Creed. That's what covers are for.

This Nirvana is a late-60s psychedelic rock band who reunited and covered the other Nirvana.

The Wounded is an unremarkable Dutch metal band, but this melodramatic cover is drastically different from and better than the overplayed original.

Here's two other covers.

Axel Rudi Pell - In the Air Tonight

The singer is Johnny Gioeli, the same guy who sang "Open Your Heart" and "Live and Learn" from the Sonic Adventure games.

German metal cowboys? Sure, why not?

Johnny Gioeli was best in Hardline IMO.

Axel Rudi Pell is pretty badass.

It's worth noting in response to the OP(rather late response, but still) that 80% of comments are made as a direct response(if not a copy) to a popular opinion found within other commenters to get approval. If one person says "the original is way better" and gets met with even modest approval everyone will jump on the bandwagon to be in the cool crowd.

That said though, I dunno if it was mentioned before, but Jonathan Coulton's epic cover of Baby Got Back absolutely smashes the original out of the water.

The Mortal Kombat cover puts me more in the mood to go in a killing rampage than the original does, actually.
