The People's Remix Competition 318
PRCv13-06

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

DzejPi managed to get a song in last round. He was the only one so he's the only winner of this round. The source is selected, so it's time for a new round.

Phew! That was close! I'm feeling adventurous, so my source for the next round is Mystic Cave Zone (2-player) from Sonic 2. Thanks!

To submit a song at the compo page a ThaSauce account is required.

If anyone has problems with registering or uploading the song to ThaSauce, please upload the song somewhere else and post a download link in the thread. I recommend Soundcloud, don't forget to allow downloads to enable me to upload the song at ThaSauce.

  • Click the ThaSauce Link.
  • Click the 'You are not logged in' button in the upper right.
  • Click on 'register' (at the bottom).

  • Continue the process by filling in your information.
  • You will get a question to confirm that you're not a robot. Here are some possible answers:
    • Name a compo: PRC
    • Who organizes One Hour Compo: Starla
    • Name a ThaSauce subdomain: compo.thasauce.net
    • Who created Mega Mans: Capcom
  • A confirmation mail will be send. There might be some issues with it (meaning that you don't get it), if that is the case, upload the song somewhere else as described above.

  • Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
  • Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score.

  • The winner of PRC317, DzejPi, can only take part by submitting a bonus mix.
  • You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

GOOD LUCK!

For the poll, what does making original remixes even mean? I mean a true remix uses original samples from the original piece you're using, and a cover would be just like using the straight midi but with new instruments. So does it mean like a cover remix?

And this source is awesome! I just started replaying this a couple weeks ago when it was on sale on steam!!! YES!!

I made a mistake here, it should be making original mixes, so not making a remix.

I'll try to get a song in for this round.

I'm going to do a remix of this myself so please keep me from winning (I have a bizarre Electronic music style and I'm bad at mixing). I'm planning on a mix that's both Gothic and surreal (I'm basing off/using the lead of the original but changing the drums and bassline). I'd love to see  an Anime remix thing and this could be the subject (I'm a big Jojo fan and think this is extremely catching and fun).

@Ronald Poe

FF7 Birth of A God already has three OC Remixes and One Winged Angel has 8 OC Remixes, so these cannot be used as a source for a possible next PRC. So please suggest a different source (I guess you won't have time to select one after the voting stage).

The Anime Idea (or whatever the outcome of the poll will be) won't be used for the next or upcoming rounds. Maybe I plan something at some point, but it won't be one of the next PRC's. I might use it in the summer around the vacation period. Probably a special anime round will have multiple sources or will be a free round with the restriction that the source has to be an anime theme.

Bundeslang, I meant both songs combined as a round (nobody's remixed them as a single theme on here or Youtube for that matter). I worked harder than you think on my mix and am hoping I win but I'll be fine even if I get last place. Tell me what you think of it (be nice but honest)?

Also I didn't expect my suggestion for the "Oingo Hol Horse ED" to pass anyway.

@Ronald Poe

Normally people only suggest one song. Remixing multiple songs in one is harder and if people have to do this it mostly results in rounds with mostly 1 or 2 songs.

You are right about the Birth of A God source, it is an interesting point you make. I will change the rules about this, songs which are remixed at OC Remix, but not as a single source still are allowed as source for PRC, so the Birth of A God source is fine. But One-Winged Angel has 'single source remixes' so this source would not be allowed.

So you could pick 'Birth of A God', but since winners only may select one source, it would be enough for participants to remix this source, no additional bonus is given if they mix both sources in one mix (this bonus is only given if two different people selected a source). But you are free to say that people who also use the One-Winged Angel source 'will probably get your first place vote'.

To summarize: selecting Birth of A God as a source is allowed, the request to remix it together with One-Winged Angel can be a recommendation but not more than that.

I will edit the rules page soon, thanks for bringing it under attention.

EDIT: Rules are edited, check at the site:

https://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc

If you read them you can see that there won't be an extension this round since I also submitted a song for this round.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 3 songs. The following people compete against each other this round:

PlanarianHugger                          Bundeslang

PlanarianHugger.jpgVS RonaldPoe.jpgVSBundeslang.jpg

                            RonaldPoe

To vote, do the following:

  • Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries.
  • Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen.
  • Fill in the entries from first to third.
  • State a reasoning for it.
  • Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they only have to fill in the first and second box box. They get a free first place if they vote, so it is attractive to vote. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments as well.
  • DzejPi has a vote that counts twice, as last rounds winner
  • Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results.

You have until THIS Wednesday, March 23rd 10:59 am ThaSauce time to vote. Check the ThaSauce page for the exact time you have.

The winner may choose the source tune for PRC319.

Check the ThaSauce Page to vote.

If anyone have issues voting via ThaSauce you can vote by sending me a PM at Ocremix.

I just wanted to say, good luck  PlanarianHugger and  Bundeslang. No matter which one of us wins, I won't give up and will keep trying to do better (one day I'll hopefully get a remix on OCRemix). Also I think I'll try to participate in 'Castlevania: Cacophony of Incarnation 2016' (if I can)

Good luck as well.:nicework:

Remember the slogan of PRC: 'The only way to lose a compo is to not participate'.

Good luck to you too.

Also the Castlevania: Cacophony of Incarnation started weeks a go. You can still vote on it and I encourage it but it is too late to enter. Sorry.

But there's still MnP and of course PRC has a new round next week.

Results Time

The results are as follows:

lastplace.jpgRonaldPoe.jpgRonaldPoe got a first place vote but still gets the last place wooden spoon with 6 points.

Secondplace.jpgBundeslang.jpgBundeslang only got one point more, his 7 points bring him second place.

firstplace.jpgPlanarianHugger.jpgAnd the winner by unanimous decision is PlanarianHugger with 9 points

Congratulations PlanarianHugger, you are the winner of PRC318. You may select a source for the next round which starts as soon as possible after receiving the source.
Send your source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix).

Send your source as fast as you can, but before this Friday (25 March), 10:59 AM ThaSauce time.

You may select any source for any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links:

http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).

Check the ThaSauce Page for the results.
