OzGuy
So... I guess it's official. Archie Sonic is dead. I read it a lot in primary school, and I loved it. At the time, I was a bit biased towards Sonally... which is unfortunate, as I started reading after the reboot, but looking back, the stories told were great, and always managed to pull off "dark and edgy Sonic" in a way Sega's own writers never could. I hope the new publisher is great, but Archie Sonic will always have a place in my heart. What are your stories? orlouge82
Ah, that's too bad. I'm still bummed from the end of Archie's Mega Man series in 2015. Seems like a lot of comic series continue to struggle, even with the success of comic-inspired movies.
duskvstweak
I've been adding a bunch of the Sonic and Megaman comics to the kid's section of the library I work at and they're always extremely popular. Super bummed to find out I can't get new ones. A lot of disappointed kids when I don't have Vol. 5 of Sonic the Hedgehog.
AngelCityOutlaw
I think I have a few 90s Archie Sonic Comics kickin' around somewhere. Anyway, I'm actually more surprised to learn it was still going. I legit think that in 10 - 20 years, comic books will be essentially extinct. Back on "Free Comic Book Day" this year, I was reading an article documenting the industry's sales and comic books are like, the one industry where the digital sales have not eclipsed physical. In a business where physical sales are at an all-time low — that's a pretty ominous sign.
Pipez
The guy also tried this with the colorist as well...
AngelCityOutlaw
I know this is a bit off topic, but I find it a bit ridiculous that there is a twitter account dedicated to "outing" people who — the majority probably crappy hobbyists — want artists to work on their projects for free. Just say "no" and move on.
OzGuy
Does anyone have any fond stories of reading, or a favourite story/arc? The shipper in me says "Heart Held Hostage", but I liked "Sonic Adventure 2.5" as well...
OzGuy
Although, "Heart Held Hostage" shows Sonic visibly cry (even if they are tears of joy) so it gets a point for reminding us how BS Sega's post-reboot guidelines are.
MindWanderer
And a new publisher has already been announced, with releases starting next year. It's IDW, which specializes in cartoon and movie adaptations.
OzGuy
Are they good? Like, has anyone read their work and can we trust them to do a good job with Sonic?
