Good Battle Music

Recommended Posts

I often like to listen to music while playing fast-paced games like Megaman X or Smash Bros. Anyone have some favorite tracks to fight to? Post links if you can. I'll start with a few.

Das Omen - E Nomine

Fight Until We Die - Man 'o War (most of their music is like this)

Lost And Damned - Kamelot

Devil's Dance Floor - Flogging Molly

Everything Louder Than Everything Else - Meatloaf

And a few from OCR...

BloodyHell - Castlevania

Power Puppet - Sonic 3D Blast

Take the Red Pill - Kabuki Quantum Fighter

I recommend just playing the music from the game, especially for the X series. What I'm trying to say is "What the hell is wrong with you??!"

Yeah, FF7 battle music is all good, I just posted a few examples. As for what's wrong with me, I like to get an adrenaline kick from my music. The whole megaman series has great music but sometimes I like something different for the 20th+ playthrough :P

Playing megaman X...with another music?!

I actually like to listen to X soundtracks while playing other games mostly fps's like unreal-quake.

I also like playing them on drums and guitar lol

On my fav ever, is Big man with a gun - Nine Inch Nails

and why not Irresponsible hate anthem - Marilyn Mason

I always thought Filter had a few really tight songs. If you ask me, 'Hey Man Nice Shot' would be really sweet (to anything but Megaman X or the like, 'cause it's music is really good anyway.)

Not I, because I'm often pleased with the music in game. And if I don't use the main music, I often use remixed versions of it. Occasionally for games like Civilization I use music from various RPGs, including Chrono Trigger, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, and a handful of others.

Can't really help you with adding a new soundtrack to X. Sorry.

My roommate here at college, on the other hand, likes to use his various assortments of metal (Fintroll, for example) while he plays games like Dead Rising or Burnout. Dunno if metal's your thing, but there are so many sub-genres of metal that you might find something appropriate that you like. That seems as good a place as any to start. *Shrugs*

Being a site about music and video games, I expected better responses than this.

It's a site about music in videogames. And I love Super Smash Bros. music (Probably one of my favorite soundtracks of all), because they're almost always reinterpretations by the actual composers, which is kickass in it's own right. I usually do listen to other music when I play FPSes, and MMO(RPG)s. I don't have any specific playlists, per se, I just listen to my whole library on shuffle. But, if that's what you like to do, I'm cool with that. :-P

Don't worry Voltrox, I've got a great reply for you. When I'm playing Starcraft I listen to Star Ocean and Xenosaga music. Some songs fit WAY too freakingly way. Try the Star Ocean 2 Arranged album's song "Silent the Universe." It was MADE for that game.

I like zircon's Acid Dominion from his second album Impulse Prime.

\m/

If you pick up Antigravity (see sig) check "Warhead". It's AD's spiritual successor.

Good gaming adrenaline music has gotta be SSH. That guy gets you PUMPED!

Thanks Zircon, I hadn't heard of SSH but I just found his version of decisive battle from final fantasy 6 and it's just what I was looking for. Also, I'll agree that star ocean and xenosaga both have great soundtracks, though I haven't played either. I'd suggest the Tales games as well if you like those. Also can't forget Chrono Cross (best opening I've ever heard, that violin in the background ROCKS). If anyone knows of anything similar to SSH please post.

If we're talking along those lines, be sure to check out Hellion Sounds. Click on the song titles for samples.
