Eden Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 Someone else in this thread called it soothing and I think that's the right word for this piece... makes me calm inside, smiling and dreaming away. Beautiful piece... thanks for sharing. Quote
Asterin Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 This piece reminded me how far I have yet to go as a pianist. I can play some tricky pieces, but I certainly cannot yet compose or improvise anything like this piece. The sheer amount of musical variation upon this one theme totally blew me away. I can certainly hear how improv makes more sense than direct composition, especially considering the very "human" feel to the rhythm and tone, but this improv sounds as if created by a master composer. ...sigh...have to keep practicing... ...Oh, yeah. Thanks for such an incredible remix, gutzalpus! Keep it up! Quote
Straziante Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 Uhm maybe I'm missing something, but this sounded very planned out beforehand, and I still have a hard time buying that this is "live". The sound quality sounds like it's a MIDI piano track. The only thing that supports this is the drag on tempo at the end of some phrases. I'm not saying this is a bad song, it's just not "the greatest" as everyone claims. Still highly recommended. Quote
Daniel Ocean Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 I'm sure he knew the basic structure of the song before he started, but there's some obvious (and inordinately kickass) improv going on there. OK, QUICK POLL: how many people picked up their respective instruments and started practicing after hearing this piece? EDIT: OK, I've figured out the arpeggio accompaniment of the intro. It's played on a guitar, but it's ok for any instrument. I'll post it if there are any takers. Well? WELL? Quote
Tregan Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 It's beautiful. There's nothing like a beautifully-performed piano piece. This epitomizes OC Piano Remixes and really raises the bar for anyone thinking of doing a piano-oriented piece. Melodic, somber, uplifting, the transitions are extreme, yet flawless. Definitely one of the best. Quote
Daniel Ocean Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 Bah, nm. You can find it all at: http://www.kontek.net/vgjam/ Quote
Supernerd42 Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 www.squaresound.com Piano scores for a fair number of SquareSoft games. Quote
gutzalpus Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 I find it very interesting that someone thinks this recording sounds like midi. If anyone knows of a midi device/keyboard that sounds this much like a real piano, please let me know where to find it (this was recorded on a young chang grand piano) Also, I did obviously know what the structure was going to be before doing it...however, if I were to record it again it definitely would sound very different each time Quote
Acey Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Hey! I have a grand Chang too! Sounds good ya? Quote
Figo Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 I love this song, and the piano gives it a beautifull feeling, i would love to hear this in a piano recital or something Quote
premiumg Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 can the person who played this please make a sheet music for this beautiful remix. i have music for the original but i want the remix! Quote
Tzeentch Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 I registered just so I could post a comment on this. (Okay, so there were other reasons. But this sent me over the edge when I was far away from it) This is simply amazing. The fact that it was improvised makes it even more amazing. Exellent. Quote
XxSwtDreamerxX Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 Why isn't there anymore mixes??? I hope to hear more. I love the piano and your mix really was something. I listen to it again and again and again... believe me or not, it's true. Quote
premiumg Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 if gutzalpus doesn't mind, i'm gonna commission someone to transcribe this song onto sheet music. Of course this is going to cost me money. Anyone else interested in getting this song on transcription? We can split the fee. Email me at premiumg@yahoo.com gutzalpus, do you mind? Quote
Ingonyama Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Wow...I'm touched by this one. It seems so subtly graceful...Everything I have to say has already been said, but...I have to say it too. This is one of the most beautiful songs I've found here. Keep up the fantastic work, gutzalpus. Quote
gutzalpus Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 I would be happy to have it transcribed, and would love a copy of the music if this actually happens. I do have a few other remixes. However, the performances are somewhat flawed in a couple of places, so I have been hesitant to submit them to the OC Remix site. You can download them here if interested - and please let me know what you think. My favorite is the Radical Dreamers one. Despite one hugely glaring error in the performance I think it is the most creative and the most passionate of all my remixes. http://joek.org:81/music/piano%20session%20072902/02%20-%20Chrono%20Cross%20-%20Leaving%20the%20Body.mp3 http://joek.org:81/music/piano%20session%20072902/04%20-%20Chrono%20Cross%20-%20Dream%20of%20the%20Shore%20Bordering%20Another%20World.mp3 http://joek.org:81/music/piano%20session%20072902/05%20-%20Chrono%20Cross%20-%20Radical%20Dreamers.mp3 Quote

Tzeentch Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 There is no music for this piece yet. The remixer improvized it. People are currently working on a transcription, though. Quote
kosvo21 Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Just wanted to shout out and say that both this and your radical dreamers remixes were awesome...didn't get the other ones yet due to the evils of dial-up... Quote
Eden Posted April 5, 2003 Posted April 5, 2003 gutzalpus: I'm listening to your other remixes right now... and WOW! Theyre wonderful and dreamy. You are my god. *dreams away with the music* Quote
Zimmerman Posted June 8, 2003 Posted June 8, 2003 So, was the song ever transcribed? If so, where can I get a copy? Also, I can't seem to load joek.org. Are the other pieces up anywhere else? I would love to hear them. Quote
